Used 1998 Buick Regal Consumer Reviews
First time Buick Owner
This has been a great car to drive. However there have been a few things that are very annoying. Mainly the wheel noise is horrible, the cup holders for the front are VERY inconvenient to use. And they are placed in the wrong angle. It makes it very difficult for the driver to reach their cup as it is in a ackward position to begin with. I had to replace the battery and the blower fan mower at less than 100K miles on it.
19998 buick regal will last forever
I am 20 got this beast when I was 1 got it at 230,000 miles it now has 273.000 miles on it haven't changed the oil in about 20,000 miles.. getting bad but will soon and just took two trips 250miles away and made it perfectly!! seats are ripping up changed the speakers all banged up ive been off roading in it sort of. never got stuck only problem was the thermostat went out and the mass air flow sensor went out. other then that I should get well over 300,000 miles soon. and hopefully more to come!! ive gone through so much with this car im running this tank to the ground!!!! oh yeah I bought it for 500 bucks.
Awesome Engine, Decent Car
I have owned my Regal for over a year. I am very happy with the performance-- straight ahead performance is great for a sedan and leaves annoying sport compacts in the dust--and also happy with comfort and powertrain reliability. There have been too many minor problems however...I wish GM would spend the extra dollars to buy higher quality interior and amenity equipment. Power window switches keep dying on me, the heated seats malfunctioned and burned the leather, the console has some sort of rubber coating that is peeling off...etc. Overall, I love my Regal but I must admit that while the stuff under the hood is bulletproof, the rest is mediocre.
Automotive comfort food....perfect !
I simply cannot say enough in favour of this great car. I had a Cutlass Ciera before this and the Regal way outclasses that as you might expect. I wanted a cruising-type ride as I have a long freeway commute every day, and something that would handle IT tech calls to businesses with comfort and classy style. Back then "Government Motors" could sure build 'em. 96K miles and routine maintenance only. This is a tank-- solid and safe and substantial in every way. Not sportscar handling, but that's what Pontiacs (were) for. This will float you down the interstate in a plush cocoon, and deliver you calm and relaxed. It's automotive comfort food, nearly perfect. Ps. Look for Canadian-built.
Fun Family Car
I bought this car fresh out of college planning ahead for a family. I have owned it for exactly one year with no regrets whatsoever. With leather, a great sound system, fog lights, and a sunroof it's a blast to cruise around town in, even without the supercharged engine. The interior styling uses a little more plastic than I would like, but the exterior lines are well coordinated. I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a well designed 4 door ride.
