Used 1998 Buick Regal Consumer Reviews
I love this car
I have owned this car for about a year and a half and have nothing but good things to say! I recently read an article that ranked Buicks as one of the most reliable luxury cars! Go get one if you haven't already!!!
Evelynn, My Love
I purchased a 1998 Buick Regal LS for my first car for $3000 with 133,XXX miles. What caught my attention was how easy it was to drive. The car practically drove itself! You could steer with your pinky finger and the ride was so smooth. I loved the heated leather seats, the Concert Sound system, and the whole car in general! I only had 2 issues with my Regal- 1. The MAF sensor and a vacuum hose had dried out so my car would stall going between 30-40 mph, but once these were fixed the car was the love of my life. The seats were so comfortable and the suspension was so supple yet could act swiftly if necessary. Legroom in the front and rear were great as well as the gas mileage (31 MPG highway OMG!). The second problem was my rear brakes failed. I had stopped at an intersection and noticed my brakes felt a little spongy out of nowhere. I made my turn and I was going 38 in a 40 and the woman in a Wrangler in front of me slammed on her brakes. When I slammed on mine, the nose dove down and the ABS activated but a split second later I could feel the brakes quiver and give out. I tried to steer out of the way but couldn't and ended up slamming into the back of the stopped wrangler at 34 MPH. My airbags went off and I hit it hard enough to make me black out for 30 seconds. I had to kick my door open and saw the front end had slid under the Jeep and the passenger compartment almost slid under too. Without that Buick I would probably have been more injured than just having airbag burns and a bad back (from my backpack slamming into the back of my seat). That car that I had loved more than anything had saved my life. I was forced into a Lexus after this but once the Lexus is gone, I will forever only buy Buicks and Cadillacs for the rest of my life.

1998 Regal GS (l67) powered
I got my buick regal gs in february 09 with 27k miles on it, and so far i am very happy with it, no issues what so ever performance is great out of supercharged motor, interior is comfortable, buick`s theater seats makes you feel like you seat higher, radio controls are easy to access, ride is nice and quiet, automatic climate control may seem confusing to operate, no ac button, just gotta get used to it
Good looks aren't everything
Great looking car, but every winter my heater turns my lights off. Major electrical problems, plus the Dexcool builds up an oily residue in my coolant system and I have to flush every year, not every 5 like they state. Try to stay away from this car.
Toe to Toe with Toyota
Original used Toyota as benchmark. Regal matched Toyota w/o paying the premium. Have owned GS and LS. (98&99) Love the supercharger but it has added to service costs. 2X CD failures in factory radio. Change oil every 3K and service transmission + filter change every 2 years and this car will get you down the road in comfort plus tight handling (GS). LS fast enough just have to stomp on gas to get the performance. Electric Windows are the biggest weakness. I just lost my GS to freakish but major engine fire. Something shorted at firewall after my daughter got home from church. Even with freakish engine fire will likely replace this with another Regal.
