Used 1992 Buick Park Avenue Consumer Reviews
A long lasting reliable luxury-sedan
I bought this car for my wife when we were in college. I have owned it happily ever since and its moved with us across the world, from California, to the south, to the NorthEast and to beautiful Hawaii. It was the first car my baby-girl rode home in and I would put her in another. This car is fun to drive and very reliable - I have had absolutely no issues other than normal wear and tear items. The supercharger allows it to accelerate smoothly for a car of its weight and I have NEVER ridden in a more comfortable automobile. Ithandles very well for this class of vehicle They are very easily acquired as an absolutely fully-optioned ULTRA for very little money and they are worth EVERY penny
Best car I've owned
Come this July , I will have owned my Park Avenue for 5 years. That is also 83,000 miles later. She is now rolling with 208,000 plus miles on her. This is all I have done since I bought her. Brakes and calipers. Shocks and struts. 2 sets of Tiger Paw tires. Oil and lube every 3K-5K. Tranmission flush. A/C charge.
Sounds like a V-8
This vehicle has been very reliable for over 5 years. The cruise control still works and the maintenence has been to the minimum. In the couple years it has been around the only things needing repaired goes as follows; windshield wipers, alternator, starter, battery, and tires and a couple spark plugs. Very reliable car something for everyone to love. I can't say gas isn't a problem but the quiet ride and smooth journey more than make up for that.
One Great Car
Bought this car for my oldest daughter for her 1st car when she was 16 (big safe car) it had 180,000 mi. She loves the car and "when it dies, I want another just like it" she says. We took it on college visits and got 36 mpg hwy! It averages 25 mpg. She is now 23 and is crying 'cause it finally let her down at 240,000 mi. Mechanic who is saying drive chain is likely culprit and will be about $900 to fix (more than the car is worth). We have had no major problems w/ this car in the 6+ years we have had it. Besides normal things like plugs & breaks. Over the years we have replaced the master cylinder, alternator, and ignition coil. That's all. Even the tires were just replaced last winter.
Still Running Strong
I bought the car with 120K and I'm almost to 200K now. The car runs great and consumes vast quantities of road in quiet comfort.
1991 Park Avenue
This car is mechanically sound. Unfortunately this will be the last GM product I buy since the front seats are VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. If I had known the manufacturer "cheaped out" on seat construction I would not have purchaced the car. If you look carefully under the seat you will find that there is no support other than some wire stretched across two pipes and a thin piece of foam placed over top the wires. The same goes for the back of the seat as well.
19 mpg?
I have owned several 90's lesabre's and park avenue models, they all routinely got mileages in the 30 mpg range. many people have told me the same was common to buick's they had owned. this site rates them at 19 mpg must have a lead foot
Best car I've ever owned!
I bought my Park Avenue 5 years ago and it has been a pleasure to own and drive. I now have over 222,000 miles on it, and it doesn't burn or leak a drop of oil. Besides oil changes, tires and brakes, I have had nothing major go wrong with this car. The book value is now basically a wash. But, I only paid $2950 for it back in '02, even though the original owner paid over $29,000. My car is now 15 years old and I'm planning on keeping her to run during the winter months to save the new one I'll be buying soon. I can't say enough good things about my Buick.
Amazing Gas Mileage
I've owned about 25 cars so far but never have I owned one as amazing as this one on gas! The car is heavy, somewhat slow to accelerate and doesn't feel sporty in any way. However it rides like you're on a cloud and on the highway I regularly achieve 34 mpg (at 75 mph) and have even gotten one trip at 38 mpg which is phenomenal for a car of this size and weight. Its already got 260,000 km on it but still running strong. I think the 3.8 is the best engine GM has ever produced.
Exceptionial car for the money.
A very well made, dependable car. Has a need for injector cleaner added at times. At 93000 gear selector does not want to move at times. Will then shift into gear and work properly. Awesome gas milage at freeway speed.Driver seat should move farther back. Most car for the money.Has stood up great. I love this car, will keep it many years to come.any one looking for a good car may check out one just like this.
ULTRA COMFORTABLE!
Don't leave home without one. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Overall Great Car
I purchased this car because I found it really cheap in classified newspapers. I thought this car was going to be one of the biggest mistakes in my life. This car was exactly the opposite of what I thought that it would be. The only thing the car needed to start was an ignition module. The only problems that I have had with the car is that the brakes needed to be repaired because when I stop at a stoplight for a while the brakes kind of move a little and release pressure. Overall this is a great car. I would reccomend the Buick name to anybody looking for a car.
I only drive Buick's
Never had a Buick that wouldn't start everytime. This is my third Buick now. It always turns over on a dime without fail. So comfortable to drive, it's like flying an airplane. Great solid indestructible engine. I've drove 20.000 miles across country in first Buick. My first Buick finally died at 299.000 miles. My current Park Avenue comes in beautiful sky blue particularly showroom quality. Great sound system, all the electronic features, I really can't say enough about how great of a car a Buick really is. Like the song goes "I've been everywhere" and it's been in a Buick. Only thing I would complain about is these cars really aren't the best on gas mileage other than this it's ultimate.
Great Car 1991 Buick Park Ave.
My 91 Buick PA has been nothing but pleasure. I had to put new front breaks on it at 160,000. The engine still has no leaks and the performance for a grandpa car is amazing.
Just love it!
I just love this car. If you think this is a car for seniors only, think again. You just get so much car for the money.
Not so good
Had many problems with my Park Ave. Anti-lockbreaks act up. Headliner looks bad. Car cuts off as I deccelerate. Also had to replace some small sensor on crank shaft because it went out. Other problems make this nice car unreliable.
great vehicle
I bought my car at 69,000 miles. I now have 163,000 miles on the car. It drives great. The 3800 V6 engine is one of the best GM has ever made. The car is 12 years old and still going strong. There is not a Ford product on the road that could even come close to matching the quality and durability of this GM product.
1992 Buick
This vehicle is an excellent vehicle for those who want dependabilty in a car. It has one the smoothest rides, great features, and as long as you keep up with the required maintenance gives you no problems.
Not Necessarily an
Excellent Buy with tremendous comfort and reliability. The 3.8 litre V-6 has plenty of power and at 50% City/50% Highway, it averages 20 MPG. The biggest downer is with all of the gadgets and "creature comforts" I anticipate a lot of little problems in the coming years.
Great car
The Ultra is a very nice car, drives and handles great, plus good mileage. It is 18 years old, and still gets noticed as a sharp car. Mine has only 128000 kms and is near mint. The seats are not as comfortable as older GM luxury cars. These cars are great overall and a lot of car for the money. The'91 has no supercharger. So less upkeep, and uses regular gas. Still lots of power.
'91 PA
Hate the spongy suspension, but car feels agile compared to the next generation. Had a lot of reliability problems btwn 30k-40k.
91 park
my 91 has 89,000 miles on it, very comf. and great driving car. Bought the car a few yrs old. now has 89,000 miles on it..recently new transmission and complete new ac and heater..have had a lot of problems with the brakes..but overall dont like the new 03 park because of they only leather interior and no whitewalls..I am thinking of keeping the 91 for that reason, other than that I have been very happy with it..
My first big one...
After driving Euuropean cars all my life before, the Buick was my first full size car. It is marvellous! Comfort, reliability, power. The only problems - with 240k miles, was the steering system and the A/T cooling system hose which destroyed itself by rubbing on the hose mounting :-(
A well built car
I moved to the Buick Park Avenue from Volvo ownership based on the recommendations of my car dealer. I buy ucars that have high quality but are unfairly depreciated. This is a car that you can buy used for a great price and expect 250,000 miles. Bought the car with +70,000 miles and it is still all original at 197,000 miles. It has been a phenomenally reliable car. Fit and finish is above average and the interior remains in good shape. The power seats provide excellent support on long road trips. I was surprised by the gas mileage, above 26 mpg on the highway. This car is quiet, well mannered and easy to maintain. Brake repairs are the only minus, but
Takes a licking and keeps on ticking
I purchased this car new and have put every mile on it. The engine is still strong, it still has factory compression specs! Have replaced all rotating parts (Alternator water pump, compressor) except power steering on engine once. Not bad for 260000 miles. Great car for road trip, very quiet and comfortable. Had to replace the automatic transmission at 217000.
My Buick Park Avenue is in great shape
This car has only got 67,000 total miles and has been maintained excelently with good tires, very low oil consuption and very good appearance inside and out. I am only selling it because my wife recently passed away and I will keep her 2001 Lincoln Town car
Almost got me killed, but...
1991 Buick Park Avenue Ultra, with 240hp V-6, fully pimped with every option of '91, right down to the huge mobile phone that I ripped out to put in an extra console. A hand me down from my Grandfather, I shared it with my parents often, but cleaned her up, changed some lights and the radio HU, raced it a few times, hardly ever let me down. Comfortable as hell, plush red leather seats, ambient old school lighting. It was maroon ext, too, sure miss it sometimes.
great Buick
Great car. I bought this as low mileage in excellent shape. Lots of miles later, almost 170000, and still going strong. Comfortable seats, the best sound system, and sports handling make this car great on long road trips. Also, such a big car with lots of space, yet I get 26 miles per gallon on the highway. Hope my next car is this reliable, very few minor repairs.
Awesome Quality!!!!!!!
Bought car with 120k miles from original owner. Now has 268K with original engine, transmission even exhaust system! Only repairs other than routine maintance include ignition system, water pump, couple small oil leaks and one set of struts,Still gets 25-26 mpg and has never left me stranded!!!!!!Hope quality and long term durability have not been sacrificed on the newer models.
when better cars are built Buick will be building
Always have had great reliability with this Buick ,Great ride good handling(touring suspension) GREAT style still looks modern! This model is an Ultra with every option!

very good car
I have not had the car very long, but so far, it seems like a very good car. I use the car as one of my daily drivers/work car. I hope it will be a good dependable car.
not just for old people
I bought a Buick Lesabre Just a couple of Years ago for $500.00 a 1986 it was in good condition plenty of Power a couple of blemishes on the body and very little rust at the bottom of the door. I liked the way it rode. Later the Tranny failed, so luckily we found a great deal on a 92 Park Ave. I paid about the same price for it that I would of to get the LeSabre fixed and it was newer so I sent the Lesabre to the junk yard and Never looked back.
ULTRA buickk
I have to say my buick ULTRA is the best used car that I have ever owned. The supercharger is great, especially getting on the freeway! You wouldn't think this car has almost 200,000 miles on it. Aside from minor repairs, such as,A\C, starter, and belts\hoses this car has been very reliable. Changing the oil is key in maintaing the longevity of a moter. An oil change light on the dashboard is possibly the reason for all those trouble free miles.
Great car
I bought the vehicle when it had about 80000 miles on it in 1999. Now it has 136000. I have had following bigger problems: Needed new alternator, A/C quit last summer, right front ball joint was replaced (hit a pot hole real bad). Not too bad I suppose.
The 91w/sex appeal
It's a top #1 classic from the age when cars were made of 100% American muscle. It runs like a scaulded hound from downtown. It's in tip top shape from A to Z. She may be old but she's still got the get up and go that a Buick has had for 100 years.

Buick Park Avenue
Vehicle did not hold up as well as the Chevrolet Lumina of same year
