Solid Buick
The LeSabre continues to be a solid made vehicle. I expect this 99 LeSabre to yield 200,000 miles without serious problems as have my previous LeSabres. Seating is somewhat uncomfortable. For long drives a lumbar support would be beneficial.
One of my favorite cars
This is a very simple car. It goes up and down the road and is very comfortable. It's not a quick or a new car but it's reliable and it's cheap. I found that you can eliminate most of the road noise that you get with a good set of tires. It's easily one of the best cars I've owned for taking trips.
The Plenum theory, a story of an intake
I have put on 40,000 miles since buying this car. No problems, great ride etc, except two weeks ago I became stranded because of the plenum burned out and coolant was logged in the lower intake causing the piston to stop thus stopping my car in the middle of nowhere. I had to walk for miles before a gentleman stopped and offered me a ride. Why was this part (egr) made of plastic and not metal...to save $.20 on each one? Now its going to cost me over $600. to repair it.. Good engineering. One thing is for sure and that is I will stick with Japanese cars..My last was an Acura and I sold it at 181,000.miles.
Nice car,typical problems.
Suspension soft to an extreme,O.K.with me. Very good acceleration and fast tight-turn feel, perfect for on/off ramps. Security system with chip in key is a loser, the second place I was towed repaired it,over $300 total. Also a battery terminal was over-tightened and stripped out of the battery case when built,It didn'show up immediately and confused the security system problems.Xmission slipping in 1st@50000 mi.
225k miles and runs like day 1
I've had this vehicle from inception and only given it the routine maintenance. Regular oil changes, tire rotations and a fresh tune up every 100k miles. I had the belts and hoses checked at 215k miles and all looked fine (all original). The interior has begun to show some age, but with the vehicle running so well and averaging ~27 MPG mix between highway and city, I continue to be pleased with the vehicle. I have aspirations of running this car beyond 300k miles.
