I bought this car with 40,000miles on it. 2 years old. Every thing is still under warranty! I have owned it for 50 days and it has spend 40 of them in the shop. It is one problem after another. The technicians don't know how to fix it and are talking to GM support frequently. Every time they fix one things, another thing comes up. GM has so far been of no help to me as a customer. They will not buy the car back because I am the second owner. I am extremely disappointed in my purchase. This has shaken my faith in the Buick brand to the core. Update: Edmunds has asked me to update my review. My car stalled a couple of weeks ago and had to spend another day and night in the shop. Because of all of my issues, the Buick dealership has given me an extended warranty of up to 90,000 miles. Luckily the car is still covered under this warranty but the nightmare continues.

Reliable Compact Utility Vehicle!

I have have owned my Encore for 16 months now and have driven about 18, 000 miles. I bought the vehicle used with 15,000 miles on it. It gets Very good gas mileage (average 31 MPG). The Encore handles fairly well and looks stylish. It appears to be a fairly reliable vehicle and a nice vehicle for a single woman. The rear cargo area is small and you will not fit a whole lot unless you put the rear seats down to expand the space. I did have one issue at 32,000 miles, the battery died with little to no warning. I am hoping that I just got a faulty battery and that there isn't a design defect that drains the battery. I also like that this vehicle has a better warranty than most vehicles. I like the Convenience package as it has a rear camera, rear sensors and side warning light on the mirrors. I am pleased with the Encore and am hoping to have it around for several more years.

Middle age empty nester

Not for the 20, 30, or early 40 year olds. I just turned 50, with 1 college bound child of 4 leaving home. My husband and I Love the small but Jazzy SUV style. I will not fit all 8 grandchildren in it. But when we hit the road (just us two), the quite but efficient city to highway drive is fun and just fast enough. Exceleration is there, just push down on the pedal!! No it's not my grandfathers car, but this Jazzy Nana, is happy driving her 2015 Buick Encore. 4 stars.

Buick Encore Review You Must Read

The Encore looks nice, and the interior is well designed. It handles well and has very good gas mileage. I own the base model and it has everything I need. I am an empty nester, and the vehicle works very well however the Encore has common problems you need to be aware of. If you fail to address the common problems larger issues will arise down the road. The most important in my opinion is the PCV system. The PCV system will fail on every 1.4 engine in time. The failure of this system will create other engine issues that you see in the review section. You must be aware of the PCV system issues and address them as soon as possible. The PCV valve located in the intake manifold will fail and in all cases the intake manifold will need replacement. This is a very costly repair but is very necessary. You can find a fix for the PCV valve system I used at Cruzekit.com that works fine and is very cost effective. If the repair is not made it causes other engine problems. Other issues will arise such as valve cover replacement, turbo problems, and excessive oil leakage. Indicators of PCV failure are rough engine performance, loss of engine power, excessive oil consumption and high internal engine vacuum pressure. If you notice poor engine performance, get it checked immediately. IN MY OPINION YOU NEED TO GET THE PCV SYSTEM CHECKED BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ANY USED BUICK ENCORE. Change oil at 5000-mile intervals religiously. Try not to push the engine. It is a small four cylinder and should be driven carefully. The Buick will perform for many years, but you must keep up with maintenance and drive carefully.
