Great!

Awesome vehicle. It's very attractive with great styling. Tons of room - I'm 6'5'' it's fun to drive and is very responsive. I have the larger engine (1.3) and Awd. I had huge doubts about getting a vehicle with 3 cylinders. This thing has power and pull. I never want for power even when merging onto the highway. I've gotten as high as 38 mpg on the highway. I love the sound canceling system and it keeps the interior quiet. I absolutely would buy again.

Great little SUV

2023 Buick Encore GX Essence 4dr SUV (1.3L 3cyl Turbo CVT)

This is a great little SUV. We were looking for a vehicle that could be serviced locally for us so we traded in our vehicle which was a Subaru Outback. We do lots of research on vehicles before purchasing including checking out IIHS safety ratings and the NHTSA, Motorweek, Car & Driver and of course, Edmunds. We were pleased with most of what we saw about the 2023 Encore and made our purchase. We’ve owned the car almost a month and so far, we are pleased. The Essence model we bought is very well appointed with leather seats, sunroof and power lift gate. The cabin is quiet and we have had no issues with acceleration. This vehicle even seems to have better acceleration - even on the highway - than our Outback did. The seats could be a bit more cushioned which would probably make them more comfortable but they also aren’t the worst we’ve ever sat on. The A/C was quick to cool the car down and we hope the heat works equally as well this winter. A couple of things I think could have been designed better - the placement of the steering wheel controls and the Driver’s Information Center. It could just be operator error with my navigating the Driver Information Center but I don’t find it as user-friendly as it probably could be. The steering wheel audio controls, although not horrible, could have probably been better. We are pretty well pleased with our little Buick and are not regretting our purchase thus far.

Great mountain climber

I got caught on icy roads last night in the mountains and it was great. I love being able to put it in 4x4 without stopping like I have to with my Ram 4x4.of course 12 mph in my Buick and then back up to 35. It climbs the hills with no problem. The guy ahead of me was all over the road. I live over 9000 feet for the last 54 years and I have had all kinds of 4x4's and I love my new Buick GX.

I miss my regal. Worse vehicle in years

I have owned my 2023 Encore for just over a year. Price is good, but lacks power and i hate the transmission with a passion. When climbing hills it feels like the CVT transmission is slipping and you can see the RPM's jump up and down. Mechanic says it's fine when he drove it around town. Happens from 55 mph- 85 mph when in hills. Climate control is crap in auto. Normally we can set our other vehicles at 72 and it moderates it nicely. This encore you can set at 72 and it may be hot, or it may be cold. When it's cold, it's ice cold to the point you have to turn it to 78 or 79 to get it out of the artic zone, but then it stays in heat mode and you have to move it back to 70 to get any cooling again for a never ending roller coaster. Miss my 2018 Regal and this is the worst vehicle purchase I've had in 25 years.

Not Good Buick!

I have leased a Buick Encore Preferred or Touring for the last 4 times in a row that I have leased because I love the Buick Encore. I love the size, height of the Encore and all the storage options and everything inside and out. I also love the way it drives, handles and how safe it feels. I am of the understanding that in the future the Buick Encore models will be replaced with the Buick Encore GX. As a matter of fact, I just renewed my lease with the Buick Encore GX. I had the car 2 days and took it back because I was expecting the same quality that the Buick Encore models have. In my opinion, that is NOT the case. The Buick Encore GX has almost none of the same storage options such as the little drawer on the left side of the steering wheel, the storage between the two front seats, the storage under the passenger seat and the storage options in the back of the vehicle. None of these exist in the New GX model that I leased. The New GX is lower to the ground as well, which I hated. I am short and I like to be sitting up high in the vehicle so I can see to properly drive the Florida roads. I could definitely notice the change in the height of this SUV. The thing I disliked the very most is the quality overall of the GX as well as the way it handles. The car feels cheaply made, it does not have the heavy feeling of safety as the Buick Encore and it certainly does not handle the same or better that the Buick Encore. The steering is loose on the GX whereas the steering on the Encore is tight. For lack of a better word, the GX drives "wobbly" and you can feel ever bump, divet, pothole in the road when you drive over it and it feels like you will lose control of the car when driving over these types of things. I am not sure if this is due to the loose steering or due to a cheaper suspension system. Then let's talk about the glare on the windshield! I can tell the difference between the Encore and the GX on how the windshield and infotainment center and how it slants. I believe that is what is causing the glare. Definitely don't have that same situation with the regular Encore. Another issue that I noticed while driving it is the way it shuts down at a stop light, (stop engine feature) is just loud, you can hear it over the radio. My previous Encore did this as well, but much more quietly to the point where you barely noticed it. The seats are Meh and certainly not as nice as the seats in ALL of my previous Encores. My closing comments are this Buick -if you are going to replace the very popular Buick Encore with this Encore GX, shouldn't you improve it or at least make it of similar quality as the previous model? I mean you buy/lease Buick for the luxury and safety, right? Well, at least I do. I hope you take my review into consideration when you ditch the Encores for the GX and make some improvements to some of these things that people are complaining about with the GX. If you are not able to improve this model by the time my current lease is up, I am afraid I am going to have to move on from Buick and go to something else.
