Great utility vehicle that drives like a sportscar
I bought my x7 a year ago after considering this and an Audi Q8. I liked the Audi as well, but the dealership was 80 miles away versus 3 miles away in Bentonville. Sales process was the smoothest I have ever experienced. Came in, drove the car, decided I wanted it and was done purchasing it 35 minutes later. Service to date has been equally smooth. Unquestionably, the best dealer experience I have every had. As far as the vehicle itself, I had always liked X5’s, but would never consider purchasing one as they were too small for my liking. The X7 addresses that, giving me enough storage for trips and a third (albeit cramped) row of seats for when I have a lot of kids to haul. The driving experience is awesome - particularly in sports mode. The pickup from 50-80 miles per hour is impressive and makes passing a breeze - which is important for me as I drive many 2 lane roads in the country. And the technology, is fantastic. The center council is very well done. It’s easy to navigate and the sharpness of the screen is tough to beat. That is the first thing people comment on when they are in the car, particularly when the cameras are on when I’m reversing. I don’t know if the video is 4K, but the quality is exceptional. Overall, I’m very happy with the car 1 year in. I did have one issue with key fob about 1 month after I bought it, but it was taken care of promptly and I was given a loaner while they fixed the issue. Other than that it has been perfect. I would definitely buy another given my experience so far.

Best vehicle I've ever owned
I have a 2020 X7 M50i, which I ordered in December and picked up via Performance Center Delivery at the end of January (an experience I highly recommend, if you're able). We drove it home, which was an 1800-mile road trip, and have basically just been using it around town... other than a day trip up into the mountains. The X7 has performed flawlessly. It's amazingly quiet, the interior is downright sumptuous and it's got more than enough power on tap. I purchased rather extensively optioned, and I have no regrets — by the way, if you're on the fence about the Dynamic Handling Package, get it. It does handle well, particularly given the size of the vehicle, and the integrated active steering (in which the rear wheels turn to help maneuverability and handling) is extremely helpful — particularly in parking lots. No mechanical issues, no rattles, no software glitches (in fact, I've been surprised at how rock solid the wireless CarPlay feature has worked, considering the fairly regular problems I had with it in my 2017 540i). If there's one negative, it's fuel consumption... but I was aware of that before I ordered the vehicle, so I can't complain. On the trip home, I got about 26 MPG, which isn't bad. But on my last tank, which was 100% stop and go traffic around town, I only got a little over 13 MPG. But, hey, it's a heavy vehicle with a 523-hp V8 — can't expect miracles. I love the X7. Very glad I got it, and I look forward to driving every time I step in.

2020 BMW X7 xDrive 40i MSport Package
What else can I say, I absolutely love this vehicle. First BMW I have ever owned. Have owned various SUV's in the past - Armada, MDX, Pilot, Xterra, Tahoe. Nothing compares to the X7. This vehicle has all of the bells and whistles, is plush, and luxurious. Nothing that I have experienced before. The X7 has plenty of power (even in the 40i). Completely satisfied. Completely sold on BMW. I cannot see myself going in a different direction as far as car manufacturer in the future.

Great ride, technology lacking, in shop alot
I have a 2019 X7 fully loaded. I love that the car is quiet and handles great. It basically drives itself, when their are no errors. I have had it for 3 months and it has been to the shop 3 times for technology/safety features not working. Currently it has a camera malfunction error and needs to go back for a 4th time. For the price of the vehicle, it seems unacceptable to be in the shop so much in so little time. I really have concerns about short term, never mind any long term reliability. Three stars if for the powerful, quiet engine and smooth ride. If there was a separate reliability and technology field it would be one star.

A+ in Luxury, Looks and Tech, B in handling
I've owned all the major luxury brands and wanted a large SUV with three rows that looked amazing, interesting to drive and all tricked out. Cayenne and Rover would be at the top except for the third row. The new Escalade/Yukon/Tahoe would have been considered but did not come out when I was shopping. I like the looks of those, but not sure about handling. I chose the BMW X7 over the Mercedes GLS because I loved the low grumble of the X7 even with the base engine and the handling seemed less boring than the GLS. The newer GLS also seemed very muted in design and not commanding as the current trend is. I bought a one year old 2019 X7 with M sport, 2nd row captain chairs, upgraded leather/multi way seats, parking assistance, cold weather, premium package and M sport brakes. I use this car for all family activities from kayaking, hiking, soccer practice, road trips, not just a garage show item. I've had the X7 for a year now and here are my thoughts: Pros: The luxury of the seats, material and finish is amazing. Every time I close the door I feel like I am in a bank vault. The exterior look with M-Wheels is amazing, love just looking at it, even with the large grill. Seems almost all large SUVs have massive grills and large pick-ups are getting even bigger. The X7 facia is almost small in comparison with the Escalade. The interior room is good and seats are amazing. Hard to go to any other car after getting used to the massage seats The split tailgate is super useful with kids and outdoor activities. Can't imagine how we changed shoes after a muddy hiking trip before The braking is best among many cars I've had outside of Porsche and even comes close to that. Lighted sky roof and third row sky roof is a nice party feature Infotainment and Apple Car play is good, with touch or knob feature. Voice command is useless like pretty much every car I have had. Updated BMW app seems good, with send to car feature now available. Parking maneuverability is good and 360 feature with memory for garage front cam is handy. Minus The handling while I said interesting, it is not super. There is incredible body movement on turns and anything outside of Sport mode should be avoided on freeways and winding roads. With Sport Mode it is decent. I feel like I am driving an 85 Cadillac Fleetwood with the X7 comfort mode engaged and driving on winding roads. Kind of strange on a Beamer. It is a tall 5000+ lb SUV, but still. Did I mention head room is amazing? The acceleration with base engine from 0-40 is lackluster in city driving. Unless you push hard most cars leave me at the signal light. Wish I had a bit more starting juice after spending this amount of money. The power on freeway passing is much better and totally enough power there. Again Sport modes helps. The front doors have an aggressive radius versus straight edge so I always need to watch my face when I open the door in a tight parking space so I don't get hit when opening. The glove box is the smallest I have seen and next to useless. Honda and more practical choices obviously win the storage test. Captain seat do not fold flat. Not planning on using the X7 for carpentry, but the occasional airport Costco purchase might be nice without delivery. Overall a solid car that loves the highway and long trips, not so much in the city. Would I buy it again - Yes. If your driving is all city, might want to consider Q7. If you want pure size and command then maybe Escalade/Yukon. For slightly more space MB GLS. The X7 is good balance of luxury and some interesting drive dynamics, though not typical BMW sporty.

Love my X7
This car is really fun to drive, and it fits my family comfortably. I will say that I need a lesson in all of it's features because there are a bunch of surprises in technology - but I need to go to dealership and get educated. I traded an Escalade and had a Yukon previously. I gave up a little room, but the car is definitely sportier and more fun.

BMW X7 Brand New Lemon!!
I purchased a brand new x7 501i, and I’ve had nothing but problems since day one. It was over 100k and brand new, but I had to take it in twice for a bad alternator. I then had to bring it in for a recall for the rear view camera. I now have to bring it in for a fourth time due to issues with the chassis. This is beyond ridiculous for a brand new car from any manufacturer and especially embarrassing for such a reputable brand as BMW. This car sucks.
So far so good
I used to own an X5 before and everything was good except for electrical problems which kept me away from BMW for a while. So far, the X7 delivers. TLDR: It's good, but you have to suck it up to some of its outrageous flaws and inconveniences, just like your wife. :D Pros: Quietness: It's surprisingly insulated, couldn't even hear the person outside yelling with the window up. Engine: smooth and powerful, my paranoid parents didn't notice when I was at 65mph or 90mph. Transmission: very suave, no jerks. The paddles are quite easy-to-use. If you're new, it will help to automatically revert back to Drive. Recommend Sport mode unless you're on a road trip, then go Comfort (don't buy it if you're gonna drive Eco) Head up display: this is HUGE, got everything you need: navigation, directions, digital speed, limits, tachometer, like a dashboard on top of a dashboard. Dashboard: Idk why people hate it but personally I love the reverse tachometer and the whole layout. It fits so well with maps, infotainment, trip data, etc... It looks so avant-garde and balanced, apart from all comtemporaries dashboard. Panoramic roof: stretching from first 2 rows, then another sunroof for the third row, the only car of its kind. Great for your claustrophobic 3rd row passengers. 3rd row: Spacious, with all the USB ports you need. Also collapsible, easy to get to with all fancy electronic buttons. Backup automation: Works like magic, restep everything you do 50ft back. Helpful in tight parking and garage. If you can get it in, it can get you out. Gimmicks: Gesture controls, very fun to impress your friends, though the volume and phone call gestures are quite useful (though you can also learn that on the steering wheel). Also remote engine startup is cool, just remember to go into climate control to set it up. Cons: (tis gonna be brutal) 1)Who designs this stupid center console!!!! Glaring glossy that shined into my eyes when I'm trying to find the buttons. 2)In order to reach the buttons, you need to move your hand AROUND the stick (who does that). Not only that, they FLATTEN buttons, there's no way to figure them just by touch. Same with the Mode buttons. It's dangerous to have to look down at it while also having it GLARINGLY BLINDED you. 3) The stupid suspension thing is slow and just for show, the car will revert back to whatever level the modes tell them to. 4) The kicking trunk thing: yeah, you need a key with you, so you have to endure your parents shouting at you when you were chatting with a nice cashier girl because "the grocery is too heavy". blah blah 5) The whole fancy programmed one-button-rules-it-all that collapse all the cargo space: even if a tiny little purse got in the way, it will not proceed. So you have to empty out the fcking car every time. And it was bloody slow. 6) No vents in 3rd seat unless you pay for "Cold" Weather package: who bloody thinks that COLD weather actually means Cold air A/C? Who thought of such "briliance" in the marketing department. 7) Parking assistance: apparently somebody at the engineering department was "Hmph, my program is not for amateurs and open spaces. Let's make a program so that it will only take the super hardcore task of trying to jam itself between 2 cars, screw ample open spaces next to it." Overengineering "genius". Extra: there's no turning lights. It's a BMW after all.

Not reliable
All it does is malfunction and errors The worst 360 camera at night you can see from the side camera Rain roof sensors always error even after changed the sensor and reprogrammed it still error ( they changed it twice and four times programmed) The speaker has a noise when play music they reprogrammed it 3 times and still [non-permissible content removed] The steering wheel always drift to right side when releasing your hand from it I had the car for 6 months and I send it to the dealership 11 times (each time take over than a week ) and still has the same problem

The best ride available in a SUV Silent and Smooth
You need to get some options in order to get the best out of this SUV, Don't miss the luxury seating option for the best seats you've ever had in a car. I came out of a Porsche Cayenne Turbo into this X7 and have never looked back. Component quality, fit, and finish are the same level as the Porsche and the price is 1/3 less. Test drive them both and you'll see what I mean. After 2 Years of ownership, it still manages to impress me every time I'm in it. VERY Highly recommended!! This one has been replaced by a 2022 Alpina XB7. What a car!!

High maintenance costs
I have a 2019 x7 40i with 35k miles. First off, we are on our third set of tires. This is a leased vehicle. It is ridiculous that we have had to replace the tires twice at 1500-2000 dollars each time. BMW needs to address this or include coverage in lease/finance options. We have owned or leased bmw’s for over 10 yrs and this is the first vehicle we have ever had this problem with. Secondly, the check engine light has been coming on and off. Took it to the dealer and was told the fan blades behind the front grill are physically broken and not covered under warranty. There has been no known damage to the car, so this happened from normal use and the dealership refuses to cover it under warranty. I am very disappointed in bmw. The x7 is a fantastic car to drive, but high maintenance cost during a 3yr lease will have me looking at other luxury brands for my next lease.
7 is a lucky number
I have had several luxury SUV (SAV for BMW fans) and I am coming out of two Audi Q7's which are great cars for the money. I have also had MBenz GLS 450 which doesn't hold a candle to the new X7 M Sport. The exterior is strong but sort of like the MB, but he interior is something else. Everything you touch feels great and the ride and handling are very sporty for a suv this big. I got the 5.0 because it just sound so cool, but it does drink gas. But then hey if you are going to spend six figures for a car you can't complain about mileage. around town 17 on the highway 22 so its not that bad. Never had a BMW before but this is the best big suv on the market. An MB Gls 63 cost at least $20k more and looks old and tired.

Major problems with entertainment
1) After the announcement of launch by BMW I waited for almost 2 years to get this car. 2) I ordered the car on 2/28/19 with a delivery promise in 4 weeks. I got car in 11 weeks instead. 3) Paid 2200 $ extra for entertainment system, they were not working from get go and Bluetooth headphones are not connected. They kept my car for 4 days and car came back with even more problems with entertainment center. It takes many many phone calls to know about updates on all these issues

disappointed BMW owner
I have been driving Lexus 470 & 570 for the last 20 years. since Lexus waits so long to bring out a new model, I looked at Mercedes and BMW. Decided on BMW X7 50i, V8. Am putting the vehicle in the shop for electrical problems for rhe second time. 3600 miles and six months old. My last LX570 was never in the shop in 4 years except for maintenance and brake service.

X7 a Masterpiece
My feedback is based on comparing my 2019 X7 to previously and currently owned cars: 2017 LC200, 2018 RX350, 2011 Toyota Alphard, 2011 Range Rover Sport. I currently purchased a 4.0 X7 and I have no words to express how beautiful, comfortable and responsive the car is. The technology is so advanced that I needed to attend the BMW encore class to fully enjoy all the features and functions. The ride is exceptional, very comfortable and the engine is very responsive. I thought that the Rx350, RRS and Toyota Alphard were comfortable but it pales in comparison with the X7. The suspension control of the X7 really makes a difference. If compared the the LC200, of course the off road capability of the LC200 is way better but if compared to driving on a freeway and surface road - the X7 proves to be the better choice and Im sure an owner of a X7 wouldn’t be taking the car off roading a lot. Fuel consumption is fare for its body and engine size. Driving it on the freeway is comparable to the driving comfort of the RX350 and RRS.

BMW X7 Best Vehicle I've ever had!
This SUV looks great has tremendous room inside the vehicle and drives great with very good gas mileage. The X7 looks so good in black with the big grill and huge 21 inch tires and mags. The SUV drives great with the standard 6 cylinder 4.0 engine. Very fast and 19 + miles to the gallon average highway and city. The extra leather seating is luxuris and feels great and after 2 years has held up well. The X7 looks great and drives even better it may be the smoothest ride I've ever had. The concerns or dislikes are no 3rd seat row ducks, crazy but unless you buy the 5th zone air they don't provide ducks for those rear passengers very bad miss. The paint job looks good but really needs upgrading on the base vehicle too many dings from stones on the road which I have no control over. An option for a better paint job would make sense but for $77,000 a great job on a BMW should be expected. I wish I new about the ducts I would have bought the 5th zone for $800. Overall the X7 is a great SUV and really is fast and has great room in the back even when the 3rd row is up and you have a 7 passenger or maybe a 6. The driver assistance professional is well worth the $1700 price and there too many nice options to mention and customize the X7. Great SUV I highly recommend it.

Run flats blow
If you get a flat tire the only option is to have the car towed to a dealership to have the tire changed. It can not be changed on the side of the road. You have to hope the dealership closest to you has the tire in stock. If not you have to wait 4 days like I did to have your tire changed.

Possessed Rear Seats
The back seats tried to close on my infant twins TWICE, and I had to forcefully stop the seat from closing. I tried pressing the button to make it stop closing, but it resisted. So I used all of my energy to stop the seat, which had a car seat attached to it with a baby inside, from continuing to close. This alone makes me wish we never got this car. It is brand new with no miles, I've driven it maybe 15 times, and will never drive it again with my children in the car.

A true luxury SUV that's fun to drive
It's is rare to drive a large/luxury SUV and really enjoy the experience. My 40i has plenty of power and those twin turbos kick-in when needed. This is a very comfortable auto...it may take a while to get your profiles set to the individual drivers' needs but it's worth the time. We really like having key funtions still controlled, if you wish via buttons!

The power the 523 horses make is amazing! It’s my wife’s car, so I only get to drive on occasion! The interior is awesome to say the least! She had the X5 but was a bit cramped for me, the X7 has a ton more room ! The rumble of the V8 reminds me of the power this bad boys has !! Sound systems and the 2nd row captain chairs are a must in my opine! I’m ready for a road trip ! Hard to keep my heavy foot off the pedal!!

Consider this a warning....UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED
I had the X7 for 2 years (2019) and 42,000 miles. Going through a school zone my steering AND brakes went COMPLETELY out as kids were crossing. Luckily there was a bend in the road and I was going uphill. I went off the road (not by my doing). A non-event. BMW acknowledged there was a "software" issue. I sold the SUV immediately! DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE...I am a 61 year old man. You have been warned. Superior SUV
This is an affordable LUXURY SUV. I have owned 3 Mercedes Benz GLS-450 (2007, 2013, 2017). They were very good vehicles and I occasionally use the 3rd row seats. I have never owned a BMW because of the stiff ride and interior noise level. The X7 was quieter than the GLS and the ride a bit smoother. The price for comparable vehicles with identical options was significantly lower for the X7. I was also ready for a change. MB does little in the way of cosmetic change. My 2017 certainly had more features and technology than the 2007 model but it was essentially unchanged inside and out.
Very bad
This car always needs to be taken to service for recalls. I paid 120000 dollars

dissapointed
I wish I would have read reviews on the X7 before buying. I'm now at the point of selling or trading my 2020 X7. The main reason is all the issues I've had with a 1year old car. so far the car has had the car computer repaired, one suspension strut replaced, brakes replaced, water pump replaced, moon roof shade replaced and now the charging pad is not functioning properly. I truly loved my car but now I'm worried the warranty won't be enough for me to keep this vehicle any longer.

unreliable and unreasonably super expensive to fix
I have owned it for 6 months. This is THE MOST unreliable car I have ever owned from a company that has THE WORST customer service I have ever experienced. After a few montsh later...my review stands ...I am not gonna post much more as this would only exacerbate the picture...junk for sale... and I hate BMW ridiculously pathetic customer service and attitude to CHARGE FOR A TEST and only if THEY ADJUDICATE to refund a customer... like it was a damn pleasure to keep visiting those dealers to have them retest it right due to intermittent issues. several month later: TERRRIBLE CAR. BMWs are KINGS OF PLASTICs that detriorate and break ALL OVER. JUNK ENGINEERING. BOSCH components guarantee disposability and obliterate ANY reliability. NEVER A BMW AGAIN

Best vehicle I have ever owned.
Quality luxury inside and out.
Beautiful SUV Blue with white Leather smooth
The kids are gone so no more interior colors to hide spills and crumbs. The 6 cylinder runs very smooth. I always like a 8 cylinders vehicles so it doesn't have them quick pick up like my 750. However it is very quick and you don’t need the 8 cylinders engine. Had X7 loaner when X7 needed yearly service the 8 is much louder inside so that is a draw back. Because we already own a BMW the learning curve for idrive was quick. Love the interior leather everywhere. Room enough for six passengers the grandkids get the 3rd row. Went to a wedding took 4 adults son 7 foot I’m 6’8 and the wife’s are 5’10 we drove 1000 miles round trip better comfort than 1st class flight. CON my wife has driven a Yukon XL for 30 years so going to the X7 was a shocked about the lack of interior storage in the center bin is small. On the wedding trip we took luggage for 8 people the kids flying didn’t want to check bags at airport. So packing all the luggage was an engineering marvel for me. Surprise the under trunk spare tire area has a lot of storage space so don’t get the spare.

Hands down! Hands Down!! Hands Down the best car i have driven. So smooth, so fast, and so comfortable. What a CAR!!! My kids love it, and my family is so happy for me. I have had many different kind of cars from BMW, Benz, Audi, and Range Rover, Tesla and this SUV is the best! The acceleration when needed just blows annoying slow drivers away that try and speed up on me, when i try and pass, lol. They get to eat my dust!

Technology is needy and annoying
My X7 is beautifully finished inside - and out with superb road manners and unbeatable comfort however, the technology has numerous unprompted options that require attention and are just simply over-done to the point of being annoying. Climate controls require manually adjusting the fan speed - which is mystifying given all the technology that is seldom needed/used. Accidentally pressing the speed limit control and anti-rolling buttons (easy to do) can be very disconcerting
