Love the phytonic blue color, the peppy v8 that has a muscle sound to it upon start. Interior is gorgeous. The upgraded B&W sound system has amazing sound clarity especially on the HD radio channels. I like the standard shifter versus crystal shifter. It’s smooth in your hand rather than the nice looking but sharp in your hands plastic feeling one. Wish all knobs though had the glass coating. Storage is adequate and better than our Audi q7. The massage seats give you many options to choose from but really aren’t that strong of a feeling even on the strongest setting. Heated arm rest, seats and steering is warm, but not that hot. Love the interior ambient light choices. It’s very bright at night and not bad during the day. Gesture controls are easier to use than I thought they would be. Charging plate warms up my phone and while there is a chime that dings to remind you to grab it out of the car, it’s not very noticeable. Our Audi tells us “your cell phone is still in the car”. Wish the button for “auto turn off” of engine at lights would stay off until you want it to come back on but you have to reset it each time. Same with heated seats and stearing . ( our Audi stays on until you turn off ) heated and cooled cup holders are nice but it’s not that warm or cold. Wish the great looking wood covering cup holders was spring loaded so you didn’t have to pull it closed. Also would of liked drive mode to stay on last one you used like the Audi Q7 does. Each day you get in you have to push a bunch of buttons. When parking in garage and leaving key in it, it doesn’t power things down.not sure why.you have to manually do it..opening doors doesn’t do it. I like the feature of auto locking and unlocking upon approach and departure. The remote for back hatch works for opening but not closing. Kick gesture doesn’t work as quickly/ easily as our Audi. Sound isolation is very good on the road. V8 allows a quick passing of other cars on the road. Heater warms up fast but I don’t luke that it has only one button for heated and cooled seats and you then on the touch screen you have to choose the one you want.the “hey Bmw” like Siri works way better than expected for everything..heating, cooling, massage, interior lights, radio, navigation etc. I love that bmw has buttons, steering control, voice commands and touch screen choices.Apple car play is just ok. The bmw I drive works the same, but my complaint with it is that apple car play won’t stream pandora, Spotify, Amazon,or I heart radio.. only the bmw I drive will. ( in our Audi ,,,,apple car play works for all functions) I don’t like having to go between both I drive and apple car play settings. So apple car play really is only good for Waze, maps, and responding to text. So for now I’m not using it. It’s nice the idrive does send your text thru and streaming music is the best benefit, but why can’t bmw either do all functions of apple car play or adapt all functions of apple car play to the idrive system? Laser lights look beautiful on the car, but I’m not sure really what purpose it really has. Wish the back seats reclined like in Audi Q7. Leather quality was the premium choice and it’s very soft but with the stitching of patterning I believe it will hold up well. I like that you can store a heck of lot of radio channels on presets and it blends in satellite, fm, and am as one rather than going in between bands to get to satellite. Great looking suv. Expensive though with all the options. Love the look of the m package

Bimmer Guy 34 Years & Counting

At 29,000 the quality and reliability of the experience continues to be outstanding. It is still the five star performer. This is why I have been a Bimmer owner since 1985. Specifically, the highlights: wonderful comfort of the ride; smooth and quick acceleration; superb performance of and information provided by instrumentation and computer systems; amount of storage is excellent (wife and I have taken numerous long trips (weeks or months) up and down East Coast with lots of luggage and household goods; never short of space!); and, only normal maintenance required at 10,000 mile intervals. We will definitely be buying another X5 in the next 2 or 3 years; perhaps the new all electric coming in 2022. UPDATE: After 23K I love it as much as I did at mile 800! And now I am totally comfortable with all of the new technology. The one small improvement I would recommend to BMW is the lane control needs to be less strong. I have set it at lowest level but the “bump” when I get close to center divide line or road side line is still too “strong”. Wonderful redesign!! Traded-in 2015 with 81K. Driven 16K miles since December 31, 2018. This 2019 model is more comfortable, spacier, better technology, bigger and clearer screens, smoother transmission, more power (faster start from standstill), better driver’s frontal highway view, almost all “buttons” are easier to see and reach, much more convenience (e. g. start/stop easy to see/reach, both tailgates are automatic), more technical data and travel info (at first overwhelming, but after one or two weeks weeks and 500 miles you start appreciating value of data/info available), and, of course, it feels like a Bmer!! This may be the ultimate, ultimate Bmer gasoline SUV (I presume this SUV will only come with an all electric power train in about 4-5 years).

I owned a couple of BMWs about10 years ago but never an SUV. For the family hauler I had Acuras and most recently a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which I loved. I decided though to upgrade to a more lux SUV with the latest tech, specifically looking for some autonomous driving capability. I researched for months, also looking at MB, Range Rover, Audi, and Volvo. The 2018 X5 left me cold. It felt a lot like my 2006 550. When the early spy shots of the 2019 X5 appeared I was interested! Boiled down, the MB was a little stuffy. The tech didn't impress. Same with the RR. The interiors look great but the electronics are slow and awkward. The Volvo was very nice but I was shocked by one odd feature. The sunroof cover is a thin mesh that let's the sun through. Unacceptable in AZ! It was blaring down on me during the test drive. Glad I drove it when it was 100 outside. And the Audi Q7 is super nice, but I think the rearend is bloated and it's a little large for me. So the 2019 X5 launches and it hit on on all cylinders... beautiful interior with awesome high res screens. Seats are nearly as good as the Volvo (which means GREAT). I loaded it with nearly all the options, so got the drive asst pro. The traffic jam assist is awesome during rush hour. Totally hands free for miles at a time, while I get a seat massage and have the news read to me. Note it will yell at you if you look away from the road for too long! The Harmon Kardon stereo is fabulous, barely needing an adjustment for beautiful thumping sound. The cooled cup holders actually get pretty cold and easily keep my drink cool. Wireless charging is nice and even gesture control is turning out to be less gimicky and more useful than I expected. Comfort access is nice with soft close doors and kick open hatch. When approaching the car everything lights up and the welcome carpet appears...nice touch. A few nits include the cheap glove box material, and a radar sensor that came loose. Trip to the shop was quick though. I wish the gauge cluster was more customizable but it's easy enough to see all info. IDrive, touch, voice, and gesture make it easy to get to the info you want. Unlike other comments, the software has been fine...no glitches to report. I've only briefly put in sport mode and punched it. It's plenty quick for an SUV. Overall a VERY nice package. Luxurious, hi tech, and quick. Very happy with my X5! UPDATE AFTER 7000 MILES... I still love my X5! It's still very comfortable and quiet, and I find myself utilizing the technology on every commute. We moved recently and the garage requires a sharp left turn. Pulling out of the garage and hitting backup assistant allows the car to pull out and retrace the route down the driveway. It's a helpful feature. The traffic jam assist is fabulous. I always watch what it's doing as someone cutting you off could require in a sudden stop, and once in a while it loses the lane and starts to drift, though that is very rare. 99% of the time it works flawlessly. It's such a great feature when taking a work call and having a sip of coffee. BTW it was a little tricky getting the system engaged at first because the instructions are poor. Here's how to do it: There are 2 modes available...regular cruise and lane keep. Engage the cruise with lane keep. When the conditions are right for several seconds (speed under 40, on a freeway, and it's tracking the lane), a 3rd cruise option icon appears for traffic jam assist. Hit mode again to engage. The steering wheel will light green when it's engaged. It will retain control until traffic exceeds 40 and then the wheel will turn red and an alert will sound. That means it's about to disengage. As I said I love this feature. It's takes the fatigue out of rush hour by allowing the car to manage all of the stop and go...just stay alert ;). I also use gesture control often. It allows you to control items without taking eyes off the road. No issues with reliability and I'm averaging 22.4 in mainly city driving. My only complaint on performance is with sudden acceleration. It's definitely a quick car but there is a 1 second lag when gunning it. Kind of bad if you have to make a sudden maneuver...I would expect more instant response. Overall I still highly recommend this car!

I've been driving BMW's since 1999 and have never had any type of mechanical or electrical issues or problems. This cannot be said about the 2019 X5. Mechanically the car is perfect. There have been at least 5 recalls one this vehicle for electronic issues associated with the new iDrive 7. BMW has repeatedly blamed Apple for poor integration of the Apple Car Play feature. That's all well and good. However I purchased from BMW; not Apple. I wanted to trade out to an X3, which in 2019 still utilized the iDrive 6. For 2020, it's the iDrive 7. Talking to BMW technicians has indicated this is a widespread problem across all the BMW lines that use iDrive 7. UPDATE: BMW agreed to take the vehicle back in December 2019. Issues I was having were never resolved.

No A/C for a $75k car

This is my 5th BMW. No problems with any of them before. Get a new one every 3 years. But this time, a/c only works on Max a/c. If you try to use the regular a/c, it isn’t very cool. Then about 10 minutes into the drive, heat comes out of either the passenger side vents or the driver side vents. No matter how much you turn down the temperature, only heat comes out. The only way to make it stop is to turn off the a/c or push MAX A/C. If on Max A/C, you turn down the temp b/c it is too cold, it reverts to heat again within minutes. BMW telling me this is normal. WHAT? I know this is NOT normal. Why would anyone want heat instead of a/c when selecting a/c? Only had the car 5 months and I know the service dept very well. Right after I got the car, internal battery warning went off. Couldn’t get a replacement for 5 months! Meanwhile, electronic systems glitching out constantly until finally the car alarm would go off every time I shut the engine off. Finally got battery replaced. But they tell me other BMW’s on the lot have the same a/c problem, other people have complained about same a/c problem with 2019s and nothing can be done. DON’T BUY A 2019 BMW. Unless you want to sit in the 7th Circle of Hell.

2019 BMW X5 M-package and almost every package available. CONS: I have to comment on the shifter, the parking position (P) is bad. Not much storage in the front. Last model had a flat cover on the cup holders where you can put your glasses, etc... this one is not available. Large lights in the inside front cabin don't do it. It takes too much space and they don't look good. Electronic problems, I get almost everyday a warning that safety systems are not operating properly. Engine OFF when stop; Previous model you can press OFF and stay OFF, new model resets every time you turn off engine... Valet parking setup, All I have to say is REALLY, it takes a week to set up your setting and add your password when someone is waiting for your car. Instrument panel is complicated and does not give you the basis like total miles. There are too much redundancy in information; map on instrument panel, map on screen, music of instrument panel and screen, etc..etc... Brakes don't seem to be as good as the traditional BMW breaks. Looks like they take longer. Hate the new maintenance rules for the car (it was on the reasons I like my BMW). Warning signals: Hate the "too close" to the car in front of you signal. PROS; Love the look of the LASER lights, the car looks nice and has a smooth ride.

2019 with 6,000 miles on it. Handling and power are great. Seats are comfortable. Averaging 25mpg. Cabin is quiet - so quiet like the phone and microphone are off. Which they are as the system appears to be broken. Brakes were squeaking, now they smell like they are burning with any moderate braking. Car will not recognize the key fob sometimes unless I hold them right up against the dash, and yet once it's running I can walk away with the key and sometimes it decides to stay "on". Rear hatch has opened on its own twice now, but doesn't want to open when I do the foot kick thing. Surges like crazy in Comfort mode. I guess I am opening a $62,000 lemonade stand?

Terrible infotainment

I had a 2015 BMW x5 that we loved, and when I saw the redesigned model I was very interested. When I first test drove one the first thing I noticed was the lane departure warning throws you back into your lane very aggressively. We eventually found the perfect one with all the options that we wanted. When we picked it up at the dealership, the product specialist tried to connect my phone through the BMW connected app, but couldn't get the message to go through, I figured it was fine and didn't think much of it. I've tried to connect it several times since then and set up the driver profiles but it didn't work. we have also had countless problems with the infotainment, whenever we connect one of our phones to apple carplay it never shows up again, we have also had incidents where it thinks someone is trying to use gesture control and turns the volume all the way up. BMW needs to issue an update or something for this.

I bought a brand new 2019 BMW X5 and since the moment I drove it off the lot, there have been problems. I have had transmission problems, my wheel makes a loud clicking noise whenever I turn right and I’ve had a myriad of electrical problems (including my engine being disabled bc it couldn’t detect my key in the car) I have 1,000 miles on the car and it’s already on day 20 in the shop (and counting). During all of these issues, BMW has given me two separate loaners BOTH of which had some of the aforementioned problems. In addition, my friend bought the same exact car a week after me and they have already gotten a new one due to the lemon law. It seems to me that these models have MAJOR issues that BMW don’t know how to handle.

We bought our 5th BMW 3 weeks ago, and we have had to it back to the dealership 5 times due to poor electronics. Finally we were told that BMW was not compatiable with Apple products, and that they have overcomplicated simple tasks like climate control. Which was surprising since Apple products worked fine on my 3 series and our previous x5. Finally this week, the BMW navigation went haywire, and we now have to have that recalibrated at the dealership. While the driving experience is good, the electronics are poor. Evidently there is a software patch that bmw is working on to fix some of the problems but the dealership was unaware of it when we purchased the vehicle and it wasn't until we had it back for the 3rd time that they were able to explain that bmw and apple had a falling out. Finally it wasn't until we signed the purchase agreement to find out that the previous matenance program up to 50.000 miles had be cut back to 35,000, and the product coverage had been minimized. I have to say, the product quality is not what it used to be.

Maybe it's because it's the first year of the redesign, but I have had a LOT of issues with this vehicle so far. First off, it's been in 3 times to fix 5 recalls. During one of the fixes, the tech cut a radiator hose which had to be ordered from Germany to repair. (After arguing with the service dept and taking the car back in 3 separate times the leak was finally confirmed.) The car's been in the shop over 30 cumulative days. 2nd, the camera system and audio system are VERY quirky. Maybe I'm pickier than most people, but my Audi was perfect and everything just worked the way it was supposed to. With the X5, loading songs onto the car is a nightmare, songs skip all the time (MP3 on the HD), settings randomly disappear (then show back up after the car is off and on again), the camera doesn't auto switch to front facing when shifting into drive, songs are overridden if you use the same thumb drive again to load new songs, the search is terrible and there is no backspace option (???), and the MMI has locked up several times. Some of the safety systems are over aggressive and should be disabled / turned down immediately. For example, the feature which nudges you back into your lane if you cross over the double lines almost killed a pedestrian. The laser headlights are awesome. At night it's like driving in daylight. Driving and comfort-wise, the car is nearly perfect. Detail-wise and reliability, it's been a mess.

Like many of you, I have had my 2019 X5 in the shop multiple times. My dealer has been great and I have no issue with their service; however, the driver’s door creeks and rattles while the car is being driver. While picking-up the car today from the fourth trip to the shop, I noticed the driver’s door was misaligned with this attempt to correct the issue. Does it count as a fifth trip if you don’t leave the parking lot after the fourth attempt to fix the car? I don’t know what to do next.

First, the good: Wonderful exterior design and a gorgeous interior. The bad: This thing is a beautifully designed piece of junk that will not hold up. More plastic parts than ever. Who wants a radiator that can't take the heat? I have had seven BMWs over the years and the 2019 X5 is a joke. I predict plunging aftermarket values and a lot of unhappy customers. Oh, and if you need air conditioning, forget it. The system is so poorly designed it can't cool five cubic feet.

One year later and my X5 is fresh and new. Makes the previous generation seem ancient. Very light/quicker with it’s buttery smooth transmission. Technology and voice control is amazing. Love the touch screen, gesture control, improved controller giving you whatever your preference. Laser light is amazing. Very luxurious and I say this as as former Q7 & S550 owner. Rides like a dream and I find an excuse to get out to drive her. Once again the ultimate driving SAV. I fully recommend.

I have owned four X5s an M5 a 330CIC a 325 and likely one or two I have forgotten about. Obviously a BMW enthusiast. The latest and last BMW was a 2019 X5. Admittedly, 3 of the last four X5s had performance options, sport packages, etc. I traded a 62k mile 2009 X5 4.8is with sport package for the 2019. What a mistake. Evidently, BMW moved from a hydraulic steeling system to fully electronic and now the road feel is as dead as disco. The new X5 is ponderous and has no steering feedback whatsoever even in what they call "sport mode". It would seem that BMW has identified their target market as uninvolved soccer moms who are more interested in keeping BIlly and Susie distracted by all the electronic wizardry than in providing a rewarding driving experience. The techo-crap is annoying, unneccessary and defines the concept of "technology for the sake of technology" - a solution in search of a problem. We have entered a world where Apple Car Play is more important to buyers than a car with capable and inspired handling. Sad. I owned the car for three long weeks and ultimately traded it for a Porsche Cayenne GTS taking a substantial haircut but well worth it. I'll never look back. If I did so I'd likely see yet another frustrated mom trying to figure out BMW's infotainment system to keep her kids distracted. Wasn't BMWs mantra of past "the untimate driving machine"? Not so much anymore. With lane departure "assist", blind spot monitoring, "self driving" cruise control modes, parking assist, autonomous braking and on and on who needs to be an attentive driver anymore? I guess BMW wants to cater to those more impressed by a brand's status than by it's capabilities. Porsche has yet to totally give into the accountants and social media influencers. Thankfully, Porsche still sees a niche for driving enthusiasts.

BMW execution on this model was a total miss. I got one of the early 2019 cars in December 2019 and even the dealer "gurus" couldn't figure out how to make the car work. Connectivity problems all over the place, making all the newest technology irrelevant. One of the back seatbelts stopped engaging and I could only get it repaired if I gave up my car for two days to have "diagnostics run". It was a seat belt! Finally brought it in and ended up losing the car for two weeks because the diagnostics caused the system to fail and I had to wait for a "part" to fix the seat belt. The dealership offered me a loaner car which was handed over with a quarter of a tank of gas. Now the blinker is getting stuck and I am not looking forward to dealing with the awful service yet again.

Bad Experience

After 4 x5s the new x5 was not even close to the previous 4. In less tha 600 miles the engine emission light went on. Dealer said I needed an appointment!! Leaving the next AM for a trip and raising hell, they fixed the problem. Less than 600 miles later the light went on again. Electronics are so sensitive that a simple hand movement causes the nav system to tell you your direction home or some radio station goes on. Too much going on causes an unsafe driving situation. The ride is totally different. As a passenger you feel that on you are driving in a 50 mile per hour wind. So frustrated we took a ‘hit” and traded in for a Porsche Cayenne. No comparission. Fantastic car. Don’t even want to address the BMW sales person. No more BMW x5s!

New to BMW Family--this is a good start

Yeah, its expensive, but its worth it. The engine at 335 HP feels way bigger and really makes the SUV jump. The transmission is very smooth. It takes a while to set things up, you have to read the manual for this one. I have the premium/comfort and executive packages PROS: Engine/Transmission Handling (its more sports car than SUV) Harmon & Kardon sound Seats are very comfortable Head Lamps Safety tech 20 inch tires Breaking iDrive is the best out there (have had GMC, MB, Infinity, Audi) CONS: Wireless charging spot is kind of hidden and hard to get to w/ the gear shift Personal Storage is meh Complex setup---you can change so much now tow/hitch with a vehicle that costs $73k? Gesture in iDrive is a gimmick

I have owned many BMWs including 3 X5's. I currently drive a 2017 M3 as my daily driver. I recently added a 2019 X5 to our household. I expected a lethargic, SUV. But, the X5 turned out to be a fun, powerful performance SUV. In sport mode, this SUV out-performs the Mercedes GLE AMG 43 and the Cayenne S. It is very fun to drive - especially on windy mountain roads. Now, the downside - I expected a luxurious interior - BMW has been marketing the 2019 X5 as a huge upgrade from prior X5 interiors. Well, within 5 days of owning the new X5, the driver's side sun visor fell off in my hand when I first lowered it (and getting a new one from BMW was a nightmare). My phones keep unpairing mid-conversation. The driver's aids are awful - especially the lane assist function. It is far too aggressive. I set it at a moderate level and the darn system almost caused me to crash into the rear corner of a bus that had pulled off to the side of the road (interpreted my swerve as needing correction back into the lane). Overall, I enjoy driving this X5 - but, I'm disappointed with the amount of plastic and the cheap designs in the interior. When compared to my 2017 M3, there is no question that for the same price, the M3 presents a much higher quality interior. And, when compared to the similarly priced Cayenne S, there is no question that the Porsche offers a much higher quality interior than the X5.

Electric Failures and Glitches

Vehicle purchased brand new in June 2019 the BMW X5 has been in for repairs 6x for electric module component issues, automatic engine mechanical failures, key fab failures & recalls responding to the vehicle, GPS failures, side assist malfunctions, radio does not turn off when exiting the vehicle, car will continue to run even after the start/stop is pressed. BMW dealerships do not take ownership if it is new, they are "independent", in addition BMW North America refuses to take responsibility for their vehicles.

I must have leased a different 2019 X5 than some of you. The ride is excellent. The handling is great. Most comfortable BMW ever drove. Tons of cool technology. I often wonder did anyone of these reviewers drive the new Mercedes, nice car but handles like a boat. The Q7, nice car but older technology. Neither of these handle remotely close to the new X5. Yes, its pricey but its a paradigm shift from the 2018. Well, well worth it.

Beautiful vehicle, great body and interior design. So much for the good stuff, extremely complicated this vehicle needs a co-pilot. I purchased the vehicle without driving it as I usually do with my BMW's so, basically my bad. With all the safety features this vehicle has, it is extremely hard not to keep your eyes off the gadgets and on the road where they should be. The "Lane Departure Warning" throw's you back into your lane if you're trying to get out of one with a solid line. "Telephone Blue Tooth" and "Car Play," your phone is never connected, "Cruse Control" has so many features, you need a 30 min. webinar to use it safely. All through the first tank of gas, I couldn't even shut the vehicle off if I left the key in the vehicle. Please Please drive one before you purchase. It's a beautiful vehicle, but, extremely complicated to operate.

Have 4000 miles so far. Performance is great and relatively quiet. Haven’t been for service yet relative to other reviews I’m seeing. Radio volume is clunky and goes up and down on its own. BMW states this a design feature. The presets are clunky but I need to take time to learn. The Apple play is inconsistent in its operation.

Got the SAV pretty loaded, its black sapphire. PROS: Seats are super comfortable Visibility is really good Panoramic roof is great Performance- Hands down the best SUV/SAV on the market. Super smooth transmission, big power band out of the V6, really wouldn't need the V8. Stereo is great, big screen that is clear and has a ton of options, looks great in bright light too. In cabin lighting is awesome. Handles like the best car I ever had. Great Lights CONS: Most over-engineered car you can buy. There are so many configurations that this is the first time I had to read and re-reference the user manual. Even turning the thing off you have several options. Laser lights are marketing, its just HID lights as high beams, is it worth it? Meh...

This is the 3rd X5 that have owned. Refinement and finish is best in class. Handling and ride is so comfortable without compromising agility. The X5 is as comfortable as the best sedans. This came with acoustic glass option which makes the car so quiet. The inline 6 is more responsive than previous generation V8 X5. Gas mileage is decent and able to average 27 mpg on a trip and 21-22 around town. New generation idrive is excellent. Bluetooth connection is buggy. Found that if I leave YouTube operating in the background of my iPhone that there are no issues. I am sure that BMW will fix the bug.

The 2019 BMW X5 is hands down one of the nicest cars on the market today. We purchased ours approximately 2 months ago, and so far it has been wonderful, with only one or two exceptions. Handling and ride quality are phenomenal, as the vehicle drives and accelerates similar to a sports car. The ride is extremely quiet and smooth, and the interior nothing short of coddles its occupants. Material quality is exceptional, especially as ours was outfitted with the extended merino leather, leather dashboard, and glass controls. The only drawback is the glitches in the bluetooth, especially when using Apple CarPlay, which occasionally disconnects and the phone must be removed and added back to the vehicle. Otherwise, the X5 is a great vehicle, and we expect it to last us a good while. Both the front and rear seats are extremely spacious, and the multicontour front seats with massage and ventilation are a wonderful feature to have, as there are seemingly endless ways to configure the front seats specifically to one's comfort/liking.

Update: after driving 60,000 miles the front differential went out and $5,000 to repair it. Brakes and other wear and tear the car just didn’t hold up. BMW isn’t what it was 20 yrs ago - bland and boring is where we’re at. Hands down - BEST BMW ever (yes, I know M's...) I have had an X3 x-drive ('08), X1- x-drive ('11), X5 x-drive ('17) x3M40i ('18) and now the X5 50i ('19). I love everything about this vehicle. The seats, steering, leg room, engine performance, handling, the sound system (I do not have the super expensive one, don't see a reason why you need it, Harmon Kardon is just as great). The front passenger and driver seats are amazing (I have the premium 20 way seats) comfortable and study. Oh, it’s quiet, powerful and just roars off the starting line. This is the way a BMW is supposed to drive. The technology, voice commands, autonomous driving as well as the lane departure warnings (which you can control via using your f^*#@*& blinkers) all work perfectly. Zero complaints about the X5 50i. LOVE everything about it.

This car is fantastic. Can you compare this 70k bmw to a 90k caddy Escalade. No way. Great engine. Quiet ride. Sporty look. Some minor annoyances like the lane assist. If you dont use your blinker. Turn the assist off. Storage could be better designed. Otherwise love it and I have 4000 miles on it - y'all must be hard to please.

We custom-ordered our BMW X5 with almost every option. The experience has been nothing short of incredible. Everything works as it should and is wonderful. The ride is a little rough with the M Sport package, but I suppose that is expected. Handling, acceleration, and comfort are superb. Get the 40i, as the six cylinder is more than powerful enough, and will be much more reliable than the V8. We have not had any issues with electronics as others have mentioned. Everything has worked flawlessly. Expensive, but overall a great value when you consider there is really nothing better on the market - period. UPDATE - After three years of ownership, nothing has changed. This is still the best vehicle you can buy. Replaced the tires at 16,000 miles. Bridgestones from the factory are crap. Apart from that, haven't had one single issue. What a wonderful machine. UPDATE: 27,000 miles and still not a single issue. This is a great vehicle.

Uncomfortable interior, LOUD Air Conditioning, The lane assist is always on but pulls so hard CONSTANTLY... I don't have the muscle power to engage it. The push to park button is ridiculous and awkward to engage, DANGEROUS because you think it has engaged but it hasn't. There is no place to keep your phone where you can access it because there is only a tiny are behind your cup holders so if you have a drink in the cup holder you cannot get to it. The voice assist is deplorable, constantly asking to have things repeated. I miss my Lexus.

If you have the 8 cylinder you might be disappointed with the acceleration of the 40i. The leg room in the rear seats is tight and the front safety sensor might be loose and give you frequent error messages. Other than that, it is Beautiful vehicle with an upscale feel similar to my seven series sedan. Be sure to get the air suspension option

I love my suv. It handles great and corners beyond my expectations. Steering is smooth and not jerky. It rides soft due to 20" tires that are not low profile. I also have air ride with all wheel steering. I have gotten as much as 36.1mpg in eco mode and 29.4mpg in comfort mode both driving at 65mph. It is a rocket. Top speed is 130 and I have the M sport package. Mineral white with Tartufo merino leather and 20-way power seats. I've driven off road and found it has some unique abilities unlike other 4wd or awd vehicles. I have no problem getting in or out of my suv. I can also see everywhere. Currently I have 75k miles on it and just recently replaced my spark plugs. I'm on my 2nd set of Bridgestone Alenza RFT's and they handle as well as Michelin. I've yet to find another vehicle that can take off as fast as I can in the rain. Snow? No problem with it. My seats massage and it is great plus they heat and cool. I also have gesture control. I turned it off since I rarely turn on the radio. Both cup holders heat and cool plus the backseats also heat and they have separate cooling/heating controls. I also have a spare tire which I added when I placed the order. Sport brakes. I love them. I have a heavy foot and drive fast most of the time. I love to high-speed corner too and this suv lets me. I must say I attended the 2 day High Performance Driving School at the BMW factory in SC. It taught me alot about not only my driving but also about my suv. I plan to do it again when I get my next ride...an x3m40i.

This is my first BMW. Not really impressed given this is supposed to be from the ultimate driving machine brand. The interior feels expensive and is well done in my opinion. That’s it for the pros. The cons- This vehicle has a stiff ride and isn’t fun to drive. Acceleration is loud but doesn’t produce much. Put it in sport or sport plus and the transmission works extremely hard to move this heavy vehicle. The 3.0L 6 isn’t strong enough for this vehicle. Turbo? Where? Vehicle is way over priced for what you get. Not pleased. Buyers remorse.

We've had our X5 for almost 3 years. Bought it for road trips but due to COVID we've only put 18K miles since we leased it in February 2019. That said, it is a nice SUV and a great road trip vehicle. Gas mileage is surprisingly high. Power is more than adequate, cargo room is adequate and the ride is great especially on the highway. We ordered it before any of the current issues with unavailable options. It is fully loaded, acoustic glass, luxury seating, heated and cooled cupholders, laser lights, spare tire, trailer hitch, etc. We decided to buy out the lease early since used car prices are so high it made sense.

This included about 40 miles off-road miles in Jackson Hole, WY and Grand Teton National Park. This was an outstanding performance for an SAV that already had 35K miles at start of trip. A great ride as well! Highly recommend!

This SUV has great safety features and nice ride. The engine provides good power and gas mileage is good. This vehicle has a lot of technology. There are camera views all around. The cruise control is superb. In the past couple of months, there were some technology related issues that needed to be fixed.

Got a used, CPO 2019 X5 recently and am very happy with it. Went through all the reviews on here first and can say that the recalls & uodates over the past years fixed it all. Mechanically the BMW is very reliable as can be told by not a single mechanical complaint on here. The b58 engines will hold up well!

Love the comfort, performance and HP. I don't care for the Android Auto app.

This is an update to my previous review. I have now owned this X5 for 2 1/2 years. It has been a trouble-free car. The only thing I have done is replace tires and brakes. But that is on me, because I drive it the way it was meant to be driven. If you're looking to buy one and you're on the fence of V6 vs V8, the V8 M is a game changer. I'm so happy I stepped up to the V8 This is a hands down awesome car. I would give it 6 stars. PREVIOUS REVIEW-Had a 2015 x5 3.5 Xdrive Great car, Stepped up to the X5 50.1 Msport Package w Allacantre leather, massaging seats, 22" wheels. This car makes me smile every time I drive it. This is the most awesome SUV I have ever driven. I bought it in May of 2021, It is now February and I have put 17,000 miles on it. I have enjoyed driving every mile. The V8 is incredible, it handles like a sports sedan, I also own a 2019 M8501 convertible. My biggest problem is deciding which car to drive. The X5 is a definite THUMBS UP!

Drove all the luxury SUVs and no comparison so ended with 2019 X5. 32k miles and not one trip to the dealer for issues. I’m impressed with BMW taking reliability seriously with this model.
