Could Be Great - Comes up Short

Wanted a large luxury car and chose the 7 Series BMW. Loved the ride, handling and overall performance. The suspension recall was my initiation of what was to come. Next, they replaced the cam shaft (no charge), tire monitors were replaced, but the worst and ongoing problem is the driver's door refuses to close. Imagine paying 85K for a car and you have to rope the door shut so you can drive it to the dealership, lol. Lastly, my experience in the car wash when the flood was delivered to the front passenger seat floor. I thought I left the window open, but no, there was a flaw at the base of the windshield. I won't be buying another BMW product if they can't get this car right.

This is the first BMW I have ever owned, but I saved the best for last apparently. Bought the car used for a small fortune, but I'm loving every minute of driving it. I just retired from the Army, but I get looks from people like I'm doing something illegal (lololol). This car is definitely a head turner, and a rocket in disguise. I haven't had it long, so I don't know about all the problems others are talking about. I'm just enjoying my car and life for now.

I traded in my 1997 BMW 528i for a beautiful Alpine White 750Li. When I bought my 5 series back in 97' i wanted a 7 series but they where unavailable at the time, so i got the 5. Finally I have a 7 series and it was absolutely worth the wait. Best car I ever had. The Interior is flawless. I looked at the new model 2009 750Li's but I didn't like them, they seemed too sporty. That is why I ended up with The 06' (alot cheaper too!!!) The exterior is just stunning, I had so many complements on this car, i cant count them. The I-Drive feature is new but I'm getting used to it. My Son figured it out in about 2 hours (he's 14), but I'm getting at it slowly... I can use the Nav so i guess thats a start

This car is awesome all the way around! Make's my 60 minute commute to work more enjoyable. The responsiveness and handling are incredible (and should be for the price). I'm 6'9" tall and the interior room is incredible...more drivers headroom than my wife's Suburban. There's so much room in the back seat that my kids can actually get in the car without climbing all over the seats. I read numerous negative reviews on the i-drive. Don't listen to the critics. This thing is so easy to use. I mastered it in a couple of hours.

The minute I sat in this car at the dealership I was sold, I didn't even have to drive it. I love the new refined look of the 2006 model, they made some very sutbtle but nice changes to the exterior. Being in this car is like being in the cockpit of an airplane, and BMW spared no expense when it comes to comfort. This is by far the most comfortable car I have ever had the pleasure of being in. It drives like a dream, smooth yet extremely powerful and quiet. And the features on this car are endless, and so much fun to use. You feel like a king everytime you get in and drive. By far the best car on the market, and in a league of its own. Awesome Job BMW!!!!

for a big sedan the 2006 750li can also be an excellant road vehicle. its comfortable, and the power from the 2003 745li to the 2006 750li can really be felt. its quite, its resonds quickly, it handles like a dream. i was thinking of a 2006 760I but the 750li is more than I could ask for. for long trips the comfort is wonderful. it really is a pleasure to drive this vehicle. there is a lot of pride when owning the 750li

After 2-1/2 months of ownership I find the 2006 BMW 750Li a dream to drive. I don't understand what all the fuss is about the I-Drive. It's very easy to learn and once you do it's very convenient to use. I also think the interior room, especially for back seat passengers, blows away the competition.

This is my 2nd review of the car after having it 5 months now, its been in the shop to completely replace the ingnition system, because the car stalled in the middle of me driving twice. Very dangerous. I love the car, way too much technology, something is bound to go wrong sooner or later with everything in the car being electronic or computerized. BMW needs to get back to basics and just make a nice car without all the tech. Read my last review, and most of it still holds true.

This is my first BMW and I am a very happy owner! I am a female and was very intimidated by the car but in a few days I mastered the iDrive and now I would not have any other car. It blows the Mercedes S class away, and the comfort is beyond words. The keyless entry and massage seats are a must! The only improvement could possibly be the gas mileage, but everything else is unbelievable!

Essentially a 745Li with a bigger engine, well after all it is just a refreshening. After trading the 745Li for the 750Li, the major difference is power. Its great handling, but some what indifferent to bonding with the driver. It kinda just does its thing, not much feeling... Anyways, compare to 2005 S500 definately better performance although only 6 speed as oppose to S500's 7 speed its still smooth. S500 has a much more comfortable suspension. It comes with 4 year warranty and the best part free maintenance. The BMW free maintenance covers a lot and will save you a lot too because it covers new brakes, oil changes, minor and major tune ups.

After hearing so many horror stories about earlier models of the 7 I am truly amazed at my new purchase - not a single problem after two months. It is one of the easiest handling large cars I have ever driven: nimble and agile. The nav system, though, cumbersome and slow, is manageable once you get use to it. The sport suspension is of no equal - the car comes lower with this suspension. Only complaint is the lack of an aux jack for an iPod. Presumably because there is a Sirius Sat Radio but their service cuts in and out except when you are travelling in wide open space--a real disappointment. For the quality, price and sophistication, the new 2006 750Li is definitely top draw.

Our 2006 750li has been just plain fantastic. The iDrive on the 750li is tremendous if you take the time to learn it and the navigation screen is the best so far. The trunk is huge and the automatic close feature is great when you have you hands full of groceries. I can step into the back seat to put my granddaughter into her seat without throwing out my back. The keyless entry has spoiled me forever. Curves might as well be straight aways. There is no lean-to-the-left, lean-to- the-right when you drive on curvy roads. This car does what you want it to do

I don't understand what the fuss is about this car. The iDrive, while it has its quirks, it's great after you learn to use it, after all this is the computer age. But regardless it is the best driving car on the road unless you want a really bumpy and loud sports car, this car has the performance and handling of a sports car that is actually comfortable to drive. There might be prettier luxury cars out there but none drive like this one.

I really am into my new '06 750Li. It's got great styling ('06 is a definite improvement over the '05). Its got lots of power and hi tech gizmos. Driver's massage chair is a nice feature. It's also got high quality feel both inside and out. And it drives like a sports car, even though its amongst biggest sedan on road. Oh yeah, its road presence is another good feature. This car stands out in the crowd. Better overall package than a MB S class or a Lexus LS.

I have this car for a week and it's a unique experience. We have a Lexus LS430 but the Bimmer is way ahead of it in power, ride, technology and exterior quality. Very luxurious, very powerful, extraordinary ride and steering, a terrific Bluetooth. The design and quality of the interior and exterior are outstanding. It has tons of features and if you take the time, you will find them very useful and convenient (most of them). This Bimmer imposes respect and scream luxury and power.

The newest Avatar of the 7 is by far the best. Bmw handling and engine combined with a Lexus-y quiet ride and ergonomics. Monaco Blue/Beige (750 il) 19 wheels Luxury package Convenience pk Sunshades Pro logic(Just rocks with sirius) I Drive is easy and futuristic( next s 500) Sumptuous interior. Unbelievable handling and acceleration for a car this big. Those of you thinking of getting a blue color consider the fact that monaco blue is extremely dark(almost black) I think the michigan blue is kinda pretty. Get the 7 and you will be in love too!!

The 750 is a very much improved vehicle as compared to the 2002 745Li I owned. The performance and handling is superior and the car just feels better built. I was surprised at the difference in the two models. Feels more like the old 740iL.

The review is from the perspective of a former MB S-Class owner ('92 & '00), new to BMW; and how the 2 compare. The BMW is a great vehicle and I'm very happy with the purchase (and you will be, too). The two are very similar, yet significantly different. Buy the BMW for performance, handling, interior ergonomics, and interior comfort. Buy the MB for looks, snob appeal, heavy vault-like feel, and smooth ride. They even out in technical innovation, each with features superior to the other. The BMW's ride is amazingly good with 19" wheels, vastly better than my MB with 19", but inferior to MB with 16". BMW with much bigger trunk; better interior finish & matierial vs new MB ('92 MB the best).

This is my second BMW, but first sedan. Buying a BMW has always been easy and enjoyable at Palm Springs BMW they are very professional and go into great depth on how everything in your new 750li works. The back seat is meant for long road trips and with the optional DVD player it is like having your own home theatre chair in your car. I only hope that as the driver, I will get the chance one day to be driven around in the back seat!!

I had a 740, 745 and now a 750. While I enjoyed each of them and stayed with BMW, the 750Li is even better, by far. It's as though my 745 went to the gym for 6 months. Tighter, faster, smoother and easier electronics. I looked at MB 550,Jag Super V8, and Audi 8. All were much more money to lease (BMW hs highest residual) and each is a great car. The 750 is the best of the best. So far, (2500 miles) no issues or problems. It even looks better.

Two thumbs up for this car. Suits me much better than the S500 Benz it replaced. The performance/style/fun factor is purely BMW. The iDrive is a much better way of interfacing with the features than an overdone array of icons and buttons and is much less buggy than the Comand system on my last benz. Sound system is wonderful and the Bluetooth implementation is flawless. Well done all the way around!

I purchased a Black/Black 750iL in June of 2006. I've never had to go back to the dealership for any service other than a nail in one of the tires. I've owned Lexus, Mercedes, Nissan, Toyota, etc., and this as been the most trouble free auto yet. I really enjoy driving the car and have become spoiled by the many automatic features (door close, keyless start, bluetooth, etc.).

I bought this car used. As soon as I test drove a BMW 7 series, I realized no other car could match the sensation. The criticism about the iDrive is not true. It is very intuitive and learning reflects the learner's intelligence. Programmable Cruise control, massaging seats, luxurious spacious interior and very comfortable rear programmable seats are unparalleled for an under 100K car. Once you have learned the features and are familiar with the response of the car it is exhilarating to drive this machine. It is a head turner on the road this car will make you drive the scenic road - it handles the road so well and it is so much fun to drive this car.

I bought a demo thinking this is the "Ultimate Driving Machine" boy was I wrong. Everything is too expensive, the car has been in the shop 7 times since I bought it. The sound system is just plain bad, the DVD player doesn't work and it took forever to figure out how to change the clock or even the radio station. That is unless you want to read the 97 page manual which tells you how to do so. Is it a head turner - yes without a doubt. But in today's economy- when you take in to account the price of gas, insurance, the overall cost of owning it I say "Don't do it!!"

Have had more service visits for this car in the first six months of ownership than I have with my Olds Silhouette minivan in the 5-1/2 years I've owned it. Frankly I expected better from a expensive luxury car. Granted it has a ton more bells and whistles and rides, handles, and performs better (except in snow) but it's dash is noisy and it's only got 4100 miles.

Our New 750 died after 500 miles. Multiple warning lights came on Car has been in shop for 3 days and no answer yet to solution or when it will be returned. This is our 12th BMW and 4th 7 series They are great cars until they fail. I have had S classes and the Beamer is both more responsive and has a better road feel. I just wish the reliability was better.
