Great car - with some odd quirks

This is some insight into little tidbits that are irritating, if you're not aware of them. First off, I have a 2018 440i, xDrive, 4-door grand coupe, with the M-sport package. It is a gorgeous carbon black, looks totally bad a$$ with front spoilers all black, no chrome. The exterior styling is the best, by far, in the BMW 7 thru 3 series. The performance is even better. Kick this puppy into M-mode and watch it fly, hugging the road comfortably and with confidence, you will feel like royalty (or Mario Andretti) behind the world. But there are weird things. First off, upon purchase and pick up, I moved my dry cleaning from my other car to this one. There is a garment hook that MIGHT be able to support 1 wire hanger. Does no one drive these cars for business, or on trips? It is ridiculous not to have an option to hang dry cleaning. Second, the horn sounds like it comes from a bulb-horn on a bicycle. It didn't occur to me to honk the horn in a test drive, but if you come rolling up looking sexy in your 4-series and need to send an encouraging toot to someone texting instead of watching the light turn green, and let out a feeble little, warbling, honk... well it's downright humbling. The navigation in the electronics between audio selections is frustrating; go backwards 3 levels to change sources, 2 to change channels, 3 for categories... it's a PITA. There is significant improvement to be done in navigating the display. On the bright side, the voice controls are SUPERB. My friend has a 2019 x2 SUV and gets a British accented voice companion; I wish I had one. Last nit-item is that the headlights on a normal setting are not symmetrical, in the sense that the leading edge of light is not consistent. It's sort of choppy. In summary, I am completely in love with this car. It is hands-down the best vehicle I've ever owned. These relatively minor items are irritating, but the car is outstanding. And great MPG too... I get 27.7 with mine. I am hooked, but do hope BMW improves these little bits. A few years and 50k miles later... this car is a marvel. Zero mechanical issues. I had thought about the 2021 m440i to trade into, but this car still performs exceptionally well and simply looks amazing. I have seen only 1 car exactly like it in the 3+ yrs I have had it. Has made me a bimmer fan for life. Fyi.. mine is a 440i 4 door coupe.. plenty of rear seat space.

I said I would not get a car without ventilated seats and with black leather in nc, until I drove this thing. I also said I wouldn't fork out the money for the adaptive M suspension. HOLY C%$P!!! This is like flying in an f-16. BMW lost their mojo after 2008 but they are back! Updated jan 2021. This car was spectacular. I am trading in to move to an X5 with same engine, which is spectacular, but my knees have aged and I have a hard time getting in and out of the coupe. You will not be disappointed if you buy this car used.

I have a 2018 440i gran coupe with m performance. I’ve had this car for a year now and I still grin ear to ear every time I start it and here the purr of that b58 inline 6. I’ve had zero issues with this car and have no plan on selling it in the near future. If you do get one I would say 100% get it with the m performance and the adaptive suspension. This car is legit fast with these upgrades and the sound of it is pretty much one of the best on the road. I’ll be sad when I have to get rid of this thing but I’ll likely get another bmw as this is my second one and I really love them.

What a fantastic ride. If you are looking for a classy looking sports car this is the one. This thing hugs the road better than any car I have ever owned. I live in the mid west and my daily driver so I needed the x drive. Handles great in the snow and wet weather. The M performance package is a must. This hatchback gives you Plenty of room for storage especially if you lay down the back seats.

2018 440i xDrive manual transmission, M-package

Great car. Manual transmission smooth as butter. Engine powerful and smooth. Sophisticated hum and roar (when pushed). Excellent handling (but not exactly tossable - you'll need an M2 for that). Ride sporty but comfortable. Very stable at high speeds. Superior paint job. Great for everyday and for long distance. Had no problem getting used to the infotainment system (intuitive, do not even have to look down , apple play works well). Already covered 40000 miles. Completely headache free. Still smells, feels, and drives as if new. Superior to 4 cylinder models and much truer to its BMW roots. Superb BMW GT coupe - just the right size (personal but not crammed). I have owned several BMWs before and I love this car. It's a reincarnation of of my first BMW (a 1994 325is, 6 cylinder, coupe) but with much more power and more luxury.

Well I just acquired a 2018 440 xi with M sport package and track handling package with a six speed manual transmission. This is coming off a much beloved 2010 Audi S4. Overall styling BMW probably wins, sleek Coupe versus sedan cabin layout, displays etc. eight year old Audi beats it hands down. Seat Comfort Audi beats it hands-down. Manual transmission Aldi present a much more raw option without automatic rev matching but gives you more visceral driving experience with the ability to practice your own heel toe shifting.BMW seems to use mandatory rev matching having said that That feature works well and the transmission is a supposed easier for inexperienced manual drivers Road feel Is excellent in the BMW but it feels less tossable Power slide on the snow BMW headlights are great but Audis Inot bad either The Audi interior is a decade ahead of the BMW someone has been slouching in Munich. Controls are much more intuitive have more impressive tactile controls, offer better and simpler organized options. Even the engine Looks better in the Audi. The engine hoist sounds good mine was without the exhaust package, but you don’t need such a package to hear the supercharged six rippin it up The Audi is more fun and if you choose an RS 3 ( for a similiar price check your drawers and the giggle meter BMW has always been a bit of poser car Audi pure raw balls
