Used 2007 BMW 3 Series Coupe Consumer Reviews
2007 BMW 335i Coupe nice try but misses
In May of 2007 I bought this car new at a shade under $50000, with premium package, sport package, 6 speed manual and navigation. The car was reliable up until 70000 or 80000 miles. It has 138000 miles now in August 2018, and the last few years has seen myriads of problems creep up. The N54 twin turbo is a great performing engine yet very expensive to replace turbos. BMW extended the warranty on these for 8 yrs total and/or 82000 miles. Mine have now malfunctioned and the estimated cost is $5000-$7000. That is an absurd price for repair. I have the Dinan Stage 3 performance upgrades installed by my local dealer for about $8500 at perhaps 45000 miles. Perfect match of engine with chassis for this car. The Stage 3 included an oil cooler, larger intercooler, ECU Flash with higher performance mapping, and suspension tweaks. The exhaust is changed to a less restrictive raspy note burble that sounds awesome. I have liked this car very much but upkeep and high repair costs with low resale value are to BMW's detriment. The interior is spartan and the leather cheap for a $50000 sport coupe. The electronics for 2007 were lagging with only an AUX line in and not a single USB port. The switchgear and simple controls like for AC vents are very cheap and break easily. OEM replacements are the only option and are expensive. Overall 3/5, with 5/5 performance and thrill to drive. Addendum 9/6/19: Car is a great car if not for high cost of maintenance due to heavy prices for import parts and higher than average repair frequency. The car still looks and drives like new. The Dinan Stage 3 kit opens the N54 drivetrain big time. Best smooth clutch operation I’ve had in ANY car to date. No clutch issues at 145K miles even. Wheels the stock OEM wheels I have to swap out due to chrome rot for an aftermarket wheel from local tire shop. Cheaper price than new BMW rims too

An average in its class
Owned it for 4 yrs now. Nice looking exterior. Agile but not as fast. I have to change 2 run flat tires in the first year. The plastic coating on the steering wheel spokes and on the driver's side door handle started chipping off in a year; dealer rep said it is normal wear and tear. (on the 1st yr?) Brake lamps always malfunctioning. Minor negatives that you don't expect in a 40k+ small car.

The Best BMW I have ever Owned
What a car! I have owned a 325iC, X5, X3, 328i, but I have to say this is the best BMW that I have ever owned. It is just so much fun to drive. Great acceleration, handling around the bends. If you are going to buy the 3 series coupe you have to get the stick, just adds another level of fun to the overall experience. I have been told by my passengers that it is fun even in the passenger seat. The blue tooth works great and sounds great. I love the automatic seat belts. Interior design is just awesome. I have two kids, 14 and 11 and they love the back seat, very comfortable. Haven't had a chance to drive the car in the snow but I am looking forward to that opportunity. Great car.
No regrets
I just got my car last week and only put 200+ miles on it. Its a joy to ride and the driving experience is so intense you can feel your heart beat faster than usual. I compared it to the Lexus IS 350 which i think is the closest rival. Lexus has a better interior for my taste and both appeal to me exteriorly but the difference is the handling. BMW really hugs the road and you can feel like you really are a part of the car. BMW made me agree that it is the ultimate driving machine. I am a first time BMW owner i hope the reliability is not that bad.
Excellent choice, but a few chinks in the armor...
Absolutely gorgeous car, BMW really outdid themselves on the styling. Power is outstanding, feels far faster then the 300 hp rating would suggest, but the off-the-line throttle response could be more linear and not so "right now". The seatbelt assisting device is a nice idea but most of the time the seatbelt slips off the device and I have to reach back for the belt anyway. The retracting cupholders are straight out of 1990 and are extremely flimsy. I-Drive isn't so bad once you get used to it. Adaptive cruise control went out and transmission developed a leak at 40K but thankfully both were covered under warranty. Had the car for 6 months and am still discovering new gadgets and features!
