Used 2000 BMW 3 Series Consumer Reviews
First but no last
This is my first BMW but surely not my last. It was well worth teh wait to try the rest first. I opted for the 323i over the 328i because of cost and fuel economy. Although I've had two recurring problems, the dealer was exceptional at resolving quickly and professionally. Front brakes were replaced twice before pulsing and pulling were fixed at 20,000. Sun roof shield guides had to be replaced twice. Rest has been a dream.
Very Satisfied, but
Overall, the performance, roadhandling, and drivability of this model BMW is outstanding. Also, the interior design and comfort is all you could ask for from this size vehicle. The one disappointment is its poor road handling on snowy roads. My car came with 17" low profile all-season tires that track very poorly on snowy roads. Snow tires are a must in winter environments. Another negative impact of cold weather on my BMW's engine is about a 20% reduction in gas mileage.

Fantastic Car
I have put all 160,000 miles on this car and except for items that go on any car, like brakes, belts, etc it has not had any serious problem except that the sports shift mode hasn't worked in 2 years. Never uses a drop of oil, gets 31 mpg at a steady 75 and I always feel rested after driving it. While it has not been garaged it still looks brand new as I wax and seal each year. Great car and in 40+ years of driving I have driven the best cars available and some dogs along the way. BMW's have become too complex, but I am buying a new 3 series soon and giving this car to my daughter. Buy one and you'll see.
323i 30 months review
Definitely the best looking front end appearance of any automobile ever produced. Constantly being mistaken for a 5 series. 30+ mpg on the highway. Standard around town mileage 26mpg. I love the car, but my wife wishes for an automatic. The 5 speed is the equalizer in performance vs. the 330. Resale is unbelievable on these cars. We are now going to go with a 325 Xi, because we live in a true winter type of climate (in the winter). My wife now also gets her automatic.
Overpriced and unreliable
I purchased this car brand new in 2000 and can honestly say that this has been the most expensive and poorly designed vehicle I've ever owned. I've had the following issues: suspension issues (control arms - 2 times!), HVAC, ignition switch, windown regulators, power steering pump, radio, horns, speakers go bad and require replacement. Latest issues: camshaft sensor, amplifier, and another power window regulator. Stay away from BMW. BMW North America doesn't care about their customers either. After warranty expires, DUMP THIS CAR.
