I have owned a 2011 A8 and 2012 A6 and the basic cars work very well. But I am very disappointed in Audi Company in their technical service department and also with the National sales team. My A8 was having a electrical /mechanical issue with the relay that controls the power brake system. My understanding is that Audi technical support instructed the local Audi Mechanic to wrap insulation around the relay so I would not hear the relay closing and opening. The next item was to relocated the relay to another spot in the car so I would not hear the relay. Both of this approaches did not address the core issue of the problem why is the relay started working that way. Instead it appears that Audi was trying to mask the issue hope the owner would go away. This is very serious problem with this car and I would not aspect Audi would try to cover up of the issue. The next point is that I ask the local sales manager to see what Audi would do for a trade value on my car towards a newer one. The answer he give was that Audi would not help out in this matter besides not fixing the issue. Needless to say that the way Audi has handle this matter is very disappointing for a company that is trying to make inroads in the high end market.

Okay, let me start off saying that I am a little bias. I have owned a lot of the luxury cars, such as BMW 750Li, Mercedes S550, Lincoln Continental, Saab 95, Cadillac Deville, Seville, and STS, just to name a few. I would have to say, this has been the best car I have ever owned. It fits me perfectly, which is hard since I am 6'5". Yes, mine has all the bells and whistles. I already told my wife, when the 2020 get in my range, I will upgrade to that. I love to tease her about how my car is better than her S55 AMG (S550 with better engine). Yes, repairs are really expensive. I had to fork out 5k of the adaptive cruise unit and a few other issues. Hint: Don't leave the sunroof open on days where it might rain (even drizzle). There's a computer just in front of the sunroof that controls the cruise system. Once wet, start crying, very expensive to repair....Other than that, no major issues other than normal items, which can also be expensive. Well, despite the repair costs, I love the car. The speed, maneuverability, options, and overall style makes this a car I will always have. I love my Chelsea (my car's name).

My wife ordered this vehicle in April of 2013 as her company vehicle and we still have it and love it! This is the most luxurious, trouble free, comfortable vehicle we have ever driven and owned. When she retired in 2016, we purchased the A8L for ourselves and love it to this day. In that time, the only repair has been to replace the switch on the passenger vanity mirror light. That’s it! Otherwise, just routine yearly and expected maintenance. The original tires were too noisy so we did get the run silent version ay replacement time which was a great improvement and the battery was replaced at year 7. Our A8L has always been serviced at the local dealership with which we have always been pleased. Service is more expensive than the usual automobile but it’s worth it to drive a vehicle of this caliber and quality which by the way replaced a Lexus LS460. The Audi is a far superior vehicle.
