Beware of Engine Oil Sludge problems

Bought this car new from the dealer in 1999 and did regular oil changes with the dealership. Just last month .. oil pressure light goes on and discovered that the engine developed a major Sludge problem .... cost $5,000 to fix ...beware! If the dealship knew about this problem they should have suggested to change to synthetic oil and do more regular oil changes ... Terribly disappointed with Audi !!!

There are a few minor things that could be done to make this car the best small sedan on the road. It is unbeatable for the price. I love the A4 and haven't seen any car that is a better value. The car's interior looks and feels like cars of twice the price, it is excellent other than the rear seat room.

The quattro is excellent in all weather and the 2.8 engine is a must. Great looking car. Your friends will think it costs much more than it does. Interior space is a little limited in the rear. The cup holders are not the greatest and the climate controls should be placed more conveniently.

...this car has it all. I recommend the 1.8T over the 2.8, b/c the turbo engine is fabulous and it's also lighter (4 vs 6 cyl) which provides the car with an outstanding weight balance.

Poor man's BMW. Every single person that has been in this car said they would buy it instead of a BMW. Drive it in wet weather and there is no comparison - you can't even tell it's raining this thing sticks to the ground so well. No sway around corners and it handles very confidently. Anyway, everyone and their brother is driving a 3-series (here in San Francisco).
