Always in the shop
I have had my Audi A4 for about 6 years. I bought it used in 2000. The car is not bad, but it always has something wrong with it. I have had the Air Bag light come on about 3 times. The Check Engine light comes on a lot, too. The Turbo burned up once. The car has had many problems with the electrical system. I just can't afford to drive the car, since things are always going wrong with it.
1998 AUDI Quattro, 2.8
This is my fourth Audi. It is not as dependable as the other three, with small maintenence problems.

Excellent Car
I love my A4. Got it for $11,000 a year ago. Just throw a APR chip in it and it's a blast to drive. Now it's got 200 Hp / 240 lb feet of torque & still gets 30 MPG. Excellent used car to buy. Be sure to do the timing belt before 75K & let the car run for a minute or two to cool the turbo before turning it off. These cars hold up great, still nice and tight with 80K on the odometer. Just change the oil, spend a little extra for mobil 1.
Pain in the you know what
Bought it in 03. The thing is expensive to repair 1200 for a timing belt??? Also the control arm on mine is going or gone along w/ the tie rod ends and I've heard that it is a problem on the 98's but audi has not officially made it a recall on all 98s...thats another 2k down the drain. The car is very good in the performance area but could use a hp boost seeing how a chipped 1.8T would already out do it in hp.
Born to drive
I bought my 98 A4 2.8Q in august of 2001. It had 70k miles on it. Since, I have put 22k miles on the car and have not had 1 single problem with anything mechanical or electrical. The build quality of this car is superb. With almost 100k miles the car doesn' creak or moan anywhere, it is solid as can be. Very impressive for almost 100k miles, but that is why it is an Audi.
