A funny thing happened when we took our 2018 Stelvio in for 50K mile service: We came home with a new one! These are truly special cars to drive and own-- the Swiss Army knife (Italian Army?) of vehicles: Space for 5, haul capability (my bike fits in the back) but a great drive train that purrs when it needs to (30 mpg on a trip, no problem) and roars when you want to have some fun carving back roads in 'Dynamic' mode! Thoughtful improvements for 2020 but the truth is this is my favorite all-time vehicle for driving, economy, comfort, and luxury well-equipped right out of the wrapper. Adaptive headlights turn with the vehicle; carbon fiber driveshaft; 8 speed ZF trans; Brembo drive by wire braking with accident avoidance and safety features. Beautiful and great build quality with no issues (other than recalls on the early builds). Highly recommend. Hope to see many more Alfas roaming the streets in the future!

Just purchased a Stelvio Ti sport after cross shopping Audi Q3 and Q5, Porsche Macan, Volvo XC60, Mercedes GLC, and BMW X3. The Stelvio and Macan had the best handling characteristics of the group, however, the Stelvio delivered the more engaging driving experience overall. We also preferred the styling of the Stelvio....ours is Rosso Competizione with the Nero Edizione package....it is absolutely stunning and draws quite a few curious onlookers. The leather interior option (dash, door panels) is very upscale....the interior controls have a quality feel to them and the new infotainment system is very intuitive and easy to use. This vehicle puts a smile on your face every time you get behind the wheel....handles like a sports sedan....so much fun to drive....very pleased so far!!! Update- 04/02/21. Absolutely no issues to report....the car has been very reliable so far! Still feel the same way about the Stelvio as I did when I wrote the review.

Was a long time VW owner and ended up in Tiguan R Line but it spent most of the 1st year in the shop with so so many quality issues. Driving experience sucked too and engine gutless. Gave up on VW and started shopping.....looked at Q5, GLC and X3 but the Stelvio beat them all for looks, fun and power. So far this is the most reliable vehicle I've owned and that includes Toyota and Mazda. Seriously impressed, you should give it a chance.

As I was reading through reviews on your site, it bothered me to see only 3 stars for this car’s review. I have owned this car since February ‘21 now and it’s been fun to own and drive vs my 2019 BMW X3. Both cars are similar in a sense that Alfa is the old BMW. It’s more exciting to drive and significantly faster.

My Favorite Car to Date

I replaced my 2019 Kia Stinger GT with the Stelvio. Prior to that, I was driving a 2011 Audi S4, Volvo S60R, Subaru Legacy GT. Being my first SUV and going to a 4-Cylinder, I was a bit wary, but wanted something that stands out (vs an X3, Q5, CX-5, which are a dime a dozen), and handles well. Despite coming from much lower vehicles, I'm shocked how much better the Stelvio handles and drives...literally feels like it's on rails. With that, you do not sacrifice ride-quality - on smooth roads it literally glides. If you are looking for a tech-laden vehicle that basically drives itself, this is not the car for you. This is the driver's car in the segment - I find myself making excuses to just get out and hit the road. Unlike the competition, this car actually has character and a charm to it that super hard to find in new vehicles. I do have a few qualms - small dealer network, no sunglass holder, the panic button on the key is too large (you can hit it my accident a lot), base seats are too flat, fit and finish could be better, CarPlay is a little slow, and sound system is meh. Sounds like a lot of stuff, but all the nuances disappear once you drive it.

2020 Alfa Stelvio is incredibly fun to drive. Fast and confident in the turns, fuel economy could be better, but the lead foot dosent help. Traded in a Lexus GX 460 (great car, had it's prupose) would not go back.

We bought stelvio after driving GLB, Macau, and Q5 for my wife. The handling and power from base engine is good. Steering is precise and body roll is minimal. It’s comfortable and quiet on highway cruise. The touchscreen is little laggy and not high resolution but adequate with CarPlay. We are enjoying the driving dynamics and lot. Hope it’s good in long term reliability

Practical sports car

Reviewers tend to knock the Stelvio for its lack of practicality and technology vs other SUVs. That is because other SUVs are basic driving appliances and their mission is to get you and your family from point A to point B. The Stelvio is not a driving appliance, it is a practical sports car. It has the personality, handling and fun to drive factor of sports cars and sports sedans, but in a much more practical package. I wanted a sports car, but needed the practicality of an SUV so the Stelvio was the obvious choice. My Stelvio puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Try to say that about any other suv.

Truly a SPORT utility vehicle!

Truly a SPORT utility vehicle. While this may lack a fancy entertainment system, it makes up for it in the handling & drivetrain department. This Stelvio has a special flare that makes you instantly fall in love. Not only does it make you look good, its plenty quick & has sharp handling. Opt for the 14 speaker H/K audio, Active driver assist package & Nero Edizione. I would also recommend to sit in both seat types (base & sport) I found the base seats narrow and lacking in adjustments. The sport seats have better thigh support and way more usable adjustments. Also note that a temporary spare tire is optional and these cars usually do not come with one equipped from the factory.

We had a Giulia Quad but needed more room and ride height. The Stelvio Quad is outstanding and seems to drive as well as the Giulia but has AWD and clearance for bad roads. This car/SUV is so much fun and fantastic for road trips.

I have a 2022 Stelvio Veloce and it has met or exceeded my expectations. I traded a 2020 Audi Q3. The Q3 was smaller by 7 inches as well as noticeably narrow. The Stelvio is much quicker and reacts with precision when the need be. Overall comparing the two, I have to give it to Alfa to building a quality automobile which is fun to drive.

Handling is excellent - this is what makes me choose this over the 911 parked in my garage next to it 4 times out of 5. Turbo 4 is great, though it really would be better with a manual gearbox. Rear legroom is tight, but good for kids or adults on short rides. Ti sport is nicely kitted out, the way to go.

Updated 10/9/22 - Alfa Romeo parts supply problems

Koi Anunta, 09/26/2022
2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 8A)
17 of 22 people found this review helpful

*********UPDATED REVIEW 10/9/22: My original review had only one star, but I've updated it to two stars due to the excellent customer service I received from the Alfa Romeo dealership in Glendale, CA with my issue. In summary, the car had been sitting disassembled in a body shop from June 2022 - October of 2022 since it couldn't be put back together without one particular part that had been unavailable for that entire time period on a nationwide level. We had been given the runaround by basically everyone involved, most especially the national Alfa Romeo "premium" customer care line, and had been simply told to keep waiting--which we patiently did!--but the part promise date kept getting pushed back. After 4 months of not having a drivable car, I finally had it, and got in touch with the service manager at Alfa Romeo Glendale (Jerry Gordon). To my surprise, he was able to find a solution when no one else could: he was able to think outside the box and came up with a secession number for that part that was no longer current (i.e., previous years' part numbers get superceded by a new number, but instead of only looking for the new part number, he checked on older ones!) that would still fit my vehicle. Thus, he actually was able to locate a suitable part in Florida, and had it shipped out to our body shop in California the next week! So, as of 10/8/22, our car is finally repaired and drivable again. I'm just sorry that I was never put into contact with him earlier, and that everyone else--from the independent body shop to our car insurance to the national customer service line at Alfa Romeo--was content to simply let us be without a car for multiple months. And it was multiple months of waiting with no end to the waiting in sight, either, as the part literally had no estimated delivery date, and they were telling us "maybe sometime in 2023" until this single part came back into stock, which would have put us at no less than 7 months of waiting. Again, the bottom line is that, in my opinion, if you purchase or lease an Alfa and nothing goes wrong with the car, you'll probably be very happy with it. But if something does go wrong, you might be in for a very long wait with an unusable car due to persistent supply chain issues. So, personally, I would not recommend getting an Alfa as a daily driver, unless you also have a second/backup vehicle for your use. We were just lucky that Jerry Gordon happened to be so resourceful, once I finally got to speak with him, or else we'd still be out of a car right now. ****ORIGINAL REVIEW from 9/22****: The car may look cool and drive well, but if you experience ANY problems with it, customer care will not help you!! We purchased a brand new $58,000+ Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and while it was parked, someone hit the headlight in the parking lot. We took it to the body shop. The tab on the old headlight was broken, so when they removed it, it could not be put back. The body shop placed the order for the new part in June 2022. The part was apparently backordered. We understand that there have been worldwide part shortages due to COVID, so we have been patiently waiting since then, and paying for Ubers completely out of pocket. To our dismay, the ETA for the part kept getting pushed back--eventually, until Sept 2022. But now, in September 2022, Alfa is saying that the part will be even more delayed--and the best they could tell us was a vague "early 2023." That is MORE THAN SIX MONTHS after the car went into the shop for a completely minor issue. This is a car that is still under warranty with only 2000 miles on the odometer. Despite the vastly delayed part date, Alfa has completely refused to help with a loaner, a rental, or even Uber costs despite the fact that this brand-new car will not be able to be driven for more than SIX MONTHS. We would gladly accept used parts, but no used parts are even available. To make matters worse, when I called customer service and asked to speak to a higher-level manager, they actually HUNG UP ON ME. "Alfa Premium Care," my ass. I have owned Lexus and Infiniti vehicles that I bought used with 100k+ miles and I was always treated like a #1 customer whenever I went to the dealership, given loaners and coffee and super kind and respectful customer service--i.e., the way it should be when you buy a luxury brand. There have never been any issues whatsoever with parts even during the pandemic since the cars are so plentiful and popular that there is always a good supply of everything available. Alfa Romeo is clearly RARE FOR A REASON. Alfa Romeo treats the few customers it has managed to get like old news--once you've bought the car, you do NOT get what you pay for, and it apparently is no longer their problem once the deal is over. I will NEVER buy another Alfa Romeo for any price, no matter how cool the car may look. There is simply no support and with their vehicles, and obviously SOMETHING will eventually go wrong. Nothing but Lexus or Infiniti from now on! #alfaromeosucks

2nd stelvio for me. First was a 2018 Ti Sport, great vehicle, no big issues, put on 35k km. For this one, 2021- be sure to check the fit and finish before signing- the boat ride over trashed the paint on our green 2021 sport Ti. Stock stereo is just ok vs premium, no adaptive suspension option in this year, some interior improvements some disappointing ones. Optioning is wack- no options on the quad, but the Lusso (or whatever they call it now) has light interior options but not on the upper end versions like the sport ti. The console is a nice upgrade but the rear camera is still small- BUT not that bad, especially vs the jag. Fender wells are lined with a felt that should be reserved for under the hood. I suspect this will not wear well and keep moisture and mud. It also exposes electrical clips and suspension innards not with cutouts inside the wheelwell- also exposes, what appears to be bare metal. Alfa going back to its roots of oxidization. Good news, the driving is great, this is a drivers SUV, and the buyers will not care about the bells and gadgets in other brands. Recommend the sport edition as you want the seats that are bolstered and have manually extendable seat base- like the old bmw's. Vs other brands like audi, the interior pales, vs bmw the tech lags, vs American its much better, vs porsche base macan the alfa is leagues ahead in terms of drivability. If you want a fun, very drivable unique car that you want to just lease (I would not own any new car)- this is the SUV to get, it's worth it to at least test drive it. In many cases, the alfa dealership is in Ferrari dealerships and you get a nice level of service. The dealer fees (vs Mercedes $5000cad) are great and the lease maintenance costs are very good. The car is basically fully optioned and I didn't feel the need to get the premium package with the better stereo and leather dash wasn't worth it to me- but I do miss the better sound. I get complements and school kids all the time staring and waving at the car. Pretty good vs the multitudes of A5's, x5's, CLA's and macans out there. Update: part 45k km, and it's been great. The initial quality concerns have not played out. Highly recommend staggering tires, have 295's on the back, sooooo much more traction. To future buyers that want something different but higher end, go look at the Maserati Grecale, it's the stelvio but the interior is done the way it should be. But at the moderna and trofelo levels, you could get a used or new quad. I still recommend this brand.

I have had many top end SUV's. Volvo XC60, VW Eos, BMW X5, RAV4 - but the Stelvio was a bit of a let down.. A month after I took delivery battery was dead. Battery replaced and I was told to lock when car in garage for something was draining the battery. Two months later the new battery was flat. Took into Alfa Service and told nothing was wrong. The car then developed an odd grinding noise in rear wheels upon reversing then straightening. I need a reliable car so I sold the car with 7500 km on clock and bought a Peugeot 3008 which is a delight. I found Alfa Service very disinterested and notice dealership in Brighton no longer do Alfas.

I have driven the Giulia for six years, but decided to change it up and go for something more practical and more comfortable. The Stelvio is essential a Giulia but more spacious. I am not sure how Alfa Romeo engineers managed to make it a near identical experience with the two cars. The only main difference is the AWD feel on the Stelvio vs. RWD on the Giulia.

I have owned many cars and so far this is probably the best driving SUV I have ever owned. It is responsive, handles amazing, very quick, and comfortable. I purchased the car used and I did purchase an extended warranty up to 75000 miles just to be on the safe side. So far I have only had the car into the dealership for a window actuator that was a little noisy. Other than that, no issues. You will love driving this vehicle. For reference, I also have a 2020 Audi Q5. The Audi has better tech and a bit more comfortable seats but in no way compares to how fun the Stelvio is to drive. The Alfa gets way more looks too.

Good looking car, that's pretty much it and customer service whether on the phone or service dept at dealerships really sucks and service people have no clue

Incredible handling. Great acceleration. Never knew a SUV could be so fun! 25,000 miles on the car and no problems.

Too much to talk about...from the dealership to the terrible Alfa Romeo Corporate customer service. Not worth the cost, not worth driving far to any dealership, not worth the problems, promises not kept, etc. You name it. Do not buy.

My Stelvio has problems with tire wear at 35k, started losing the quick pick up at 37k and interior plastic began falling apart at 41k. My VW and BMW held together without problems through 60k and I still have VW with 73k without a hiccup. It up to you if you like wasting money, go for it.

Realmente me gusta todo. Lo único en que deberían mejorar es en el aire acondicionado y el gps
