Very nice, but not all that

I purchased a 2008 Acura TL 3.2 w/ Nav on March 6, 2018, with 136k miles on it. Bear in mind for this review that I purchased from an individual. I am very car savvy, but what I can say honestly is I most definitely jumped the gun on purchasing this car. I absolutely LOVE the exterior of the car. I had an aspec model, meaning it has an aero kit and shorter springs from factory. This car got tons of compliments, "is that a Lexus?" "what year is your mazda?" "THAT is a 2008?" just to name a few. The Nav system was really nice (once you bought the upgraded system in 2018, aka $160). The bigger display screen was a nice plus too, as it is a bit bigger than standard screens. As far as positives go, unfortunately that is about all I can say. Now onto some cons... bearing in mind I was probably the fourth or fifth owner, this car had it's fair share of "love." I had a continual small oil leak the whole duration I had the car, the A/C started to go out randomly even after a shop said everything was functioning properly, and my rack and pinion started to leak. The most major inconvenience of all was my HFL (hands free link) module did not work. This controls the Bluetooth, cruise control, and any other hands free feature, so that was a huge bummer. When my battery went out, my Acura required the most top of the line battery Walmart offered. Their middle of the line battery would still not crank my car, even though that was the battery the associate said the manual called for. But worst of all, THE GAS MILEAGE IS ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS. I did not realize exactly how often I would be filling up, and on top of that, it calls for 93. It doesn't help the gas tank does not hold as much either. I was filling up every four days, and I did not drive much every day, maybe 20 miles total. I would have never bought the car had I realized exactly how much it was and how often I'd be filling up. Those are probably the worst cons, but some smaller ones are the leather was absolutely atrocious. I had seat covers on the front because of how awful it was, and the rear was spreading and tearing more and more by the day. The front leather door cards were falling apart (probably an easy fix, but still). To sum it all up, I had way too many repairs on this car to justify me keeping it. I traded it in for a 2015 Toyota Camry. I had 175k on the odometer when I traded it in, and I miss the sporty aspect of it, but that is it. The 3.2 was peppy and I enjoyed the bump shifting, but I am much more happy and comfortable in my Camry.

I drove 1993 Honda Accord LX Coupe for 15 years, 400,000 miles. and I traded in for this '08 Acura TL. I really liked the accord and it gave me no pain. But this TL has been proven to be a Rattle box. It makes rattling sound almost everywhere. I went in to the dealer about 4 times in one month starting 2 days after purchasing the car and stayed at the dealer for 2 weeks total in the first month. The first, sunroof problems and engine check light on and drive light blinking not shifting from 3rd to 4th gear, etc. It wasted a lot of my time and gave me so much stress. And all they gave me was the extended warranty. After the first month, I had to keep going back to dealer

It's a great car overall. I love speed and this car has it! Takes off great! It's a manual transmission, not auto. I've taken it for road trips and it's comfortable. Great handles and the reaction is just great. Trunk space is good enough. I have a 2 yr old and the stroller fits well along with camping tents and sleeping bags plus 3 personal bags.

Excellent Balance of Comfort and Power

No perfect care exists, but the 2008 TL Type S comes close for an attainable price. The vehicle is an excellent blend of power, handling, and interior refinement. A comparable BMW would be significantly more expensive. The competitor vehicles, such as the G35 and the IS350 are good cars but lack the professional finish seen in Acura vehicles. After a week of ownership, there are no visible flaws. The voice command feature of the DVD-navigation system does take some time to learn and perfect.

My brother, who had recently purchased a 2008 Acura TL S-Type, recommended that I test drive the car, and stop looking at more expensive cars that I was considering, such as the Jaguar XF and the Audi A6. Well, we are both now driving the same car, except his is Silver and mine is Pearl White. The car is solid, fast and luxurious. In Pearl White, the car is a very sexy sharp-looking car. I was sold within 5 minutes of the test drive, and the driving experience just gets better with time. It will take me time to learn how to use all the features that come with the car, but with the money I saved, I will study the owners manuals as I tan on the beaches in Southern Italy this summer
