Used 2023 Acura MDX Type S 4dr SUV AWD w/Advance Package (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 10A) Consumer Reviews
Nice car
First Acura in 30 years. My, how things change! I've got about 8000 miles on mine. Nice on the road on an 8 hour drive to Florida. It's certainly not the Corvette's or Mustang Bullitt I've owned in the past, but it goes as fast as I want and I'm not too gentle on it. (85-90 mph) Heck of a lot more comfortable then the other sports cars I've owned. Looks like a "MOM VAN" and the cops seem to miss it. I don't know but I'm pretty careful on the road. A couple of things I've noticed, throttle response in Normal mode. Big turbo lag. Be careful pulling out on a busy road. Sport mode is almost too responsive. Someone else mentioned gas mileage. I agree. For a 6 banger its awfully thirsty. That Bullitt did as well with an 8 cylinder and 150 more HP. Rear windshield wiper could be reversed. Why not turn it around and tuck it under the spoiler. Out of the way. Out of sight and a cleaner look. Console pockets in the front seating area. Plenty of room there for it. Drink holders aren't just for drinks anymore. I like to use Wazes and the car's GPS at the same time. Also use hand wipes regularly. Thats both cup holders, guess the drink goes between your legs! I haven't noticed the whine or vibrations others have described. I think they would have popped up by now. I've found it to be a solid car. My first SUV and I'm happy with the storage room in the back. Plenty of room for golf clubs and push cart. If you've had to give up the serious sports car due to age, (my issue) or you've started a family, need the room and don't want to give up a sports car, I think this is a good vehicle to look at. UPDATE: 8/15/23 Just over 16000 miles. I added the spare tire the last oil change. $500 I wonder why I had to spend for a spare on a car priced at over $70,000.00! (Type S) Other than some turbo lag the car runs flawlessly. Another thing I noticed I think Acura should address on every one of their vehicles is XM Travel to be added to the radio. I have it in my 2015 Ford F-350 and use it when I travel. It's nice information to have when you are approaching a storm front and can see the weather on radar. Finding fuel and seeing the prices is nice too. Not sure why that wasn't added. $5 a year!

Problems @1,500 miles
This is my first Acura. "Love" the look, only "like" the car. At 1,500 miles my rear, right wheel sensor failed. Every light on the dash came on. Was told supply chain issues so can't get the replacement part for a month. Also, the car isn't extremely quiet. The tires are loud and road noise can be heard. Lastly, always had a problem with using my phone in the car. When I call out the other person gets echo sound. I've tried looking up how to remedy it but still no luck. Not the experience I expected for a $65k car.

Nice ride, but needs more.
I’ve had my MDX Type S Advance for 3 weeks now. Impressions: 1. Great sound system!!!! 2. Already in the shop for warranty work. I’m annoyed with that. 3. Fun to drive, very comfortable. 4. Interior is TOO LOUD. This is supposed to be a premium product, built for long, comfortable drives. My 10 year old pickup is just as quiet. Disappointing. 5. The infotainment system took a few minutes to figure out. It works just fine. 6. After 2 years of putting up with the loud interior, I sold the Acura and got a Mercedes GLS 580. I know that the new MDX is much quieter than my 2023 was, but my local upstate NY dealership service was so terrible that I decided not to give them any more business.

High pitch whining noise that Acura calls NORMAL
Owned 2 4th Gen MDX’s and each one have a different set of issues. First one is 2022 MDX Aspec which had issues with acceleration and weird vibration in the gas pedal. Acura did not cared to look into the issue and simply ruled out saying it’s normal. Since I could drive the car with the vibration in the gas pedal, traded in Aspec for 2023 MDX Type S Advance hoping that the Type S engine design is different and I’ll not have any weird issues. But, I was completely wrong. My 2023 Type S Advance have multiple issues - 1) high pitch whining noise which triggers at 45mph. This happens only when i slightly press the gas pedal to maintain the speed. Take the foot off the gas pedal and the noise stops. Again, feather the gas pedal, it comes back. My dealer did not even attempt to identify the problem but instead he test drove other type s in the lot which was having similar noise but barely noticeable while it’s pretty loud and annoying in my car. Opened a case with Acura and they took my dealership technicians word and ruled it as a normal characteristic of the car… which is BS! Many other MDX owners are experiencing same issue and Acura is not bothering to look into the issue at all. 2) Rattle noise from the cluster/HUD part of dashboard. My dealer tried to fix it but it just doesn’t go away. Type S Advance is the most expensive and sort of flagship vehicle for Acura. But, Acura decided to screw it up and do nothing about the issues that customers are having and simply saying it’s normal. Seems like Acura knows these issues and yet released a faulty product into the market and bagging the money. If Acura doesn’t take these issues into consideration and fix them, this will be my last Acura product and spread the word to my family and friends who are in the market for a new car and make sure they buy a better reliable car other than Acura who pays attention to customer issues and value them.

Type S / the harder u drive !
This mdx type S , just bought it 2 weeks ago , a fun car to drive , air ride suspension makes a big difference, 3.0 turbo engine makes a big difference again , 1000 watch stereo awesome sound , massage seats yeah feels good , luxurious / yes and the price is expensive $75000 , if you tell me 5 years ago $75000 are you nuts but fast forward now 2023 here we are now the realities of life we’re driving it, gas mileage not great / for its price you probably don’t care about the mileage / is it a fast car for a medium size suv yes ! / feel’s confident to drive once you get adjusted to its size , I came from a RDX now mdx type S , it’s Japanese Honda/Acura realiability proven already for years…
