Used 1991 Acura Legend Sedan Consumer Reviews
150K and still lovin' it
I bought this car brand new in 1991 and can't imagine replacing it. It was hard to find because I wanted a stick, but the performance difference is well worth it. I still love it after all these years. This model year was magic. Classic looks, stellar quality, sedan convenience with sports car handling (almost). I've got 150K on it and my mechanic tells me I can expect to double that before I'm through. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. The only thing that could make me sell it is if I start having trouble finding parts, which happened to me recently with a piece of rubber trim that just decomposed with age in the L.A. smog.
Better than my 2001
Trouble free, purchased it new in 91 and just can't give it up. Only serviced at dealer, current reading on odometer is 57,200. Nice quiet ride, smooth transmission and has just a joy to own. I purchased an Acura TL in 2001 and the Legend is a better car. The Acura service department where we purchased our cars were excellent.
91 Legand Sedan
Hmmm, just looked at how I rated the auto on 1-10 scale and may appear lower than my true feelings. Hard to rate gas mileage and exterior styling a 10 on this auto. I have owned the auto for 3 years. Was originally going to get a Volvo 850 (now v70) but was instantly seduced when drove this auto in comparision. Has held up very well -- very good build quality. It is a great way to get a nice performance oriented upscale sedan inexpensively...and it is much less expensive to maintain than Lexus, Volvo or Infiniti. You sit rather low in this vehicle vs. other cars you might compare it too...took some getting used to.
continued saga..same car:?
CONT>>Now car is clicking whenever I take off or turn the wheel.(needs front axle shafts & cv boots a common problem on Honda/Acuras?) It now has 126k,the clear coat/paint is peeling off roof despite wax & a garage.Brake Lt warning always on but no malf. The seats have cracked worse underneath the "vinyl spray"(applied to simulate good lthr) I read the reviews B4 buying and my expectations for this lux car were much higher. The point I'd like to make is not all acura's live up to the hype. A car is only as good as it's maintanence. Two more things..I WOULD NEVER BUY A CAR FROM THESE GUYS ON EBAY & I WISH I HAD ONE OF YOUR'S-CAUSE THIS ONE SUCKS.
Mmmm reliability.
I have been researching used cars for around 10 months now, and a few days ago I finally got a Legend.Beautifully styled, loads of features, power, space, unbelievable reliability, it has everything I could ask for in a used car.The ONLY problem I have with the car is the gas mileage.I was an idiot and hadn't checked to see which grade to use so I filled it up with regular, while it takes premium. It isn't the end of the world, but from here out premium gas at around 20 MPG may not be too fun...just motivation to not drive as much and keep the car in better condition!I really believe there is no better car for the money.
