1998 Subaru Legacy GT 4dr Wagon AWD

Review

This is my first Subaru. Bought it for wagon versatility, reliability, sporty, value, Honda doesn't have wagon, and AWD was a bonus here in MN. Car has 104,000 miles. It has delivered adequately in all categories but reliability has been below my previous Hondas and Acuras. Beware of dealership performance. It has been horrendous with multiple return trips after expensive head gasket replacement. Problems started after dealer repairs. MPG 22-25.

Best Features

Handling, wagon versatility, appearance, AWD, cruise control near steering wheel.

Worst Features

Cupholder design, breakaway side view mirrors, fuel economy, dealer mechanical skills and aptitude.

1998 Subaru Legacy GT 4dr Wagon AWD

Review

Fully equiped car, great cargo room and versatility. Excellent handling especially in rain & snow. Visibilty and drivability excellent. Slugish acceleration and poor gas mileage. Average 21 mpg but w/ AWD..... Possible engine leak (minor) which drips on exhaust causing burning smell Various backlights on dash radio & controls have gone out-Annoying 94,000 miles w/ only brakes and oil changes.

Best Features

Cargo, nice cruising vehicle on long trips, excellent bad weather driving

Worst Features

Power increase, cup holder placement, fuel efficiency
