Vehicle

1998 Nissan Frontier XE 2dr Extended Cab 4WD SB

Review

First 40K in first 2 years. Has always gotten 12-14 Highway MPG. Not a fast machine. First problems at 98000 ... electrical system Alternator, distributor, entire ignition system, Exhaust Manifold cracked. Passenger compartment seals started shrinking and having issues after 2 years and are now all but gone but no biggie it is a truck after it is gonna be noisy. roof liner completely fell out ofter 6 years. It prefers dry weather. Nothing has stopped me on or off road ... when I have seen other vehicles stuck

Best Features

Wonderful heavy duty cloth seats Good AC (I live in TX so it is hot) It's a truck ... it does what I want it to do.

Worst Features

BETTER MILEAGE MORE POWER ... NEVER put a 4 banger in in 4WD. Better quality seal and roofliner. (most of these were fixed in subsequent versions)

Did your roof leak with water dripping onto both sides of the cab? If so how did you stop/find the leaks. Mine has water coming in , drips onto steering wheel, both floor mats & driver seat. I can't find any place for water to come in. I guess it's time to remove the head liner to get a birds eye view. Any gaskets that leak in the roof? I'm getting free showers on days it rains, lol. And by the way, the tail light at the edge of the roof does not leak, go figure? Thanks....

My 98 extended cab Frontier, has been leaking in the roof some where. I can't find it after looking for nearly a year off & on. Water drips on the sterring wheel, only after I move the car. Both floor mats have water dripping into them and the drivers seat gets very wet. I checked the tail light at the edge of the roof and it's dry behind it. The only thing left... I think is the vinal strips at the edge of the top just behind the doors. They appear to be snug. Are there other problem areas anyone has heard of on these trucks. I've had a windshield installer reseal the wind shield to no avail. He does not know where the water is coming from either. I could sure use some good advice, actually, some bad advice would beat a sharp stick in the eye. Thanks
