Hi mac24, It's a 1992 Jeep Wrangler YJ with what I beleive is an AX15 transmission. 5 speed manual. The service center which just did the transmission flush ~3.5 months ago put in the Havoline Dexron IV fluid. What damage can happen with the Dexron fluid in the transmission? I just started hearing the whining about 2 weeks ago. This was also after I had put the Jeep into 4WD(high) due ... Read More

About a month ago, my husband was in an accident in my in-laws 1992 Wrangler with manual transmission. When the vehicle was towed from the scene, it was on two wheels. During the drive, my husband says the wheels locked up, and the towing company had to call for a flat-bed to come get the Jeep. After the towing company assessed the damage and costs (they are also FIXING the Jeep), ... Read More

Before I could drive, my dad bought me a Wrangler because this was the one vehicle that could make me abandon the plans for my '76 AMC Pacer X. It is a 1992 and when I got it, it needed some serious work. The frame was rusted out, the top leaked a little, the 4x4 didn't work, and it had 155,000 miles on it. However, over the past two years, nothing ... Read More

Assuming that the ignition system (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil) is all good, and that the alternator is putting out a good charge, a blocked fuel filter or weak fuel pump would be a good place to start.

A sight you might take a look at is the TJ FAQ at http://www.visi.com/~tam/tjfaq.html It's no longer being updated, but it's still a good intro. CJs are the "original Jeep" vehicle that eventually became the Wrangler. The last model year for the CJ7 (same dimensions as a Wrangler) was 1986, about the same time Jeep/AMC became part of Chrysler. They have round headlights and a leaf-spring suspension. YJs were the first-generation ... Read More

I guess they just don't get it. legroom: My 1992 Honda Civic hatchback has more legroom than the 1997 Wrangler. Does anybody know a way to move the seat back or if there are aftermarket "seat ... Needs some info on 1992 Jeep Wrangler. I've never owned a Jeep and am thinking about buying one as a family toy. The Jeep appears to be in good shape with oversized tires and doesn't look like it has been offroad. Asking price is $6300 with 85k miles. I need everyones vast knowledge to help in the decision. Thanks in advance!
