The 2003 in particular had several electrical faults, and of course the clutch failures on both the 4 and 6 cylinder engines. I HAVE a solution..THE solution. I personally own a 2004 Tiburon 2.0L, with a 5 speed so I speak with experience. I also have spoke to other fellow Tibby owners with the same issue and figured adding my info in this forum might be useful. When I bought my ... Read More
My brother just had his 2004 Tiburon (GT V6 6sp, 76K miles) into the dealer because the clutch wouldn't fully disengage. They insisted he needed a new clutch, dual-mass flywheel, cover & release bearing for $2300. Apparently after re-assembly, they still couldn't get the clutch to release, so they ended up replacing first the master & then the slave cylinders. It STILL would not release so they tore it down and ... Read More
A clutch should not wear out at 50k. I too am having a similar problem at 50k and the dealer and Hyundai will not acknowledge the problem. It floors me that they have been sued for this in the past and they are playing dumb once again. This problem exists in the Tiburon, Elantra and the Sonota. And they all have the same clutch assemblies. To make matters worse. They are ... Read More
Hyundai never built stronger newer flywheel/clutch combo's for y'all and put them in free of charge as a giant Tibby recall. I was once interested in buying one of these cars, and I would've bought a Tib with a 5-speed manual, too. I think this '03 and on Hyundai Tiburon(with a few mild body changes here and there) holds up pretty well body-design-wise against the new Genesis Coupe, too. Though I ... Read More
You may be able to get a break with a 08 new Scion Tc manual msrp 17900. (perhaps 16900 or better with some free (overpriced) add ons or an overallowance for your trade. In any event, I've read the 4 cyl in the Scion and eclipse much outperforms the 6 cyl tiberon and handling and quality is no match. For you to judge. I would explore this as the deal you ... 2004 Hyundai Tiburon It looks like a 4, but I am told it is a V6. I have only the photos to go by, so it's hard to tell. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/404/feb0820048ck3.jpg http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/654/feb0820049mg9.jpg
Does anyone else have clearcoat on a 2007 model Tiburon already cracking? We have taken the car to a automotive paint shop and they used a magnifying glass to show us the spider web cracking of the clearcoat. We then went to the dealership in Southern California where we purchased the car, and they said that it was fly droppings destroying the paint. Automotive insurance now involved, sending us to another ... Read More
I to hae a problem with my 2004 tiburon. the clutch keeps grabbing and i have to turn the car of if i want to go. I have had a mechanic look at it and he replaced the Hydraulics but the problem was still there. Hyundai have looked at it and have said nothing wrong but could be the mas flywheel. Cost to check and repair Aus $2600 As i have ... Read More
I have to agree with the Carfax idea and having the vehicle checked at a dealer. The clutch issue is a very costly repair, if done at a dealer. They have to take out the engine to do it and the hourly rate is stupid. The Hyundai dealer I worked for had one in the shop for a new clutch and instead of fixing it, the owner let it go back ... And you have asked for / reviewed the maintenance records correct?. I would, especially since this is a manual car, as many have had clutch issues. And with the hole you say is in the engine compartment I would ask him if something was living in there. Squirrels and mice love to chew on wires (and the little critter may be what cause all the little scratches). Perhaps you should take ... Read More

im looking at a 2004 tiburon gt v6 6 speed with about 30,000 miles on it. The person wants 13,500 for the car. I was wondering if that is a good deal or should i offer him a lower price. Any feed back would be much appreciated thanks
no resolution from Hyundai for my 2004 Tib except they lost a customer and got plenty of bad mouthing. My resolution: I bought a Honda agp
I have gone to the dealership where I bought the tiburon and was told the same information, unless it happens again there is nothing they can do. I inquired about the many complains regarding the clutches for Tiburons in 2003/2004 and was told those were bad drivers.. but it's hard to believe there are so many bad drivers. In your case, what was the reason to replace the clutch, was it ... Read More
we had to replace two clutches in our 2004 tiburon before it had 18,000 miles. there was a flywheel problem which Hyundai has yet to recognize and reimburse costs. many people have had the same problem. we dumped our Tiburon and will never by another Hyundai because of their non-action. (a class action suit is pending)
Who said you're considering a lemon? Whatever glitches there were with the 2003 Tiburon, it's history, unless of course, you have also heard that there were glitches with 2004, 2005, 2006, and now 2007. I suspect you haven't. Think all the good things you want to about Toyota, but sometimes when cars get a reputation, they stretch it, along with your billfold. And next thing you know, a person is no ... Read More
I am the owner of a 2004 Tiburon and have had the same problem as your son. They apparantly don't cover the cost of changing a clutch and blamed my clutch problems on my driving as well. I could see if I had never driven a clutch before and grinded the gears non-stop, but logistically, I don't. My car has only 19700 miles on it and there is no way that ... Read More

I have a 2004 Tib V6 5speed. I was wondering if anyone knows where to get the Digital Temp and A/C control unit. I have the standard dials and want the digital unit. Where and how much? Thanks, Todd
I purchased my Tiburon in January of 2004 as a holdover. I began to experience problems at 2400 miles. There was a shimmy and it pulled to the left when braking at 50 mph. The fix was to grind the rotors and put more air in the tires. Then at 6000 miles I lost all power and stalled on a busy street. I was stranded and had to have it towed. ... Read More
I have a 2004 Tiburon GT V6 auto that I bought in October 04. It has 4000 miles on it and I noticed yesterday two things that recently happened and I was curious if anyone else has experienced this and how it was resolved. 1) On the right side of the spoiler, some of the protective rubber layer has moved out from between the hatch and the spoiler and is exposed. ... I purchased a new Tib 2004 Tiburon in November. Since then I’ve put about 9000 miles on it. Just yesterday after a short trip up to my local 7-11 I noticed a massive transmission fluid leak. I had my car towed to the dealer where and it now needs an entire new transmission, that is after only 6 months of commuting 20 miles to and from work. With that said Hyundai ... Read More
After reading all the problems with the clutch assembly in the Tiburon I felt compelled to add my story the list. My son and I purchased a 2003 Tiburon new in July of 2003. I had called the dealership and they told me the clutch isn't covered under warranty--It ran out at 12,000 miles (my car had 25,000 at the ... Read More

offerings from Hyundai for Tiburon. Like you I really like this new Tidal Wave color. I haven't seen one in person in Tidal Wave, yet, but I think I'll like it in person. Also, Rally Red is a great offering. Tibs look good in the silver, although I noticed that it's called something else for 2004 and doesn't look like the same color silver. It almost looks like a silver-something else ... Read More

Hyundai simplifies Tiburon packaging and pricing for 2004 Hyundai has released 2004 model year pricing for the Tiburon. The MSRP increased an average of USD 610 or 3.65 percent. The pricing actions reflect the manufacturer's attempt to repackage the content to better match consumer demand and simplify orders. The base Tiburon gets a new 2.0-liter engine featuring continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) along with a standard low-height rear spoiler. Changes have ... Read More
tuning much at all. I like how it comes stock from Hyundai's factory. The 2.7-litre V6 is the same basic engine in the Sante Fe and Sonata, but has a unique "non-twist" crankshaft casing to improve reliability and overall refinement. What's more it also has a stylish new body that is longer, wider and heavier than the model it replaces. However, Hyundai claims to have improved the car's torsional rigidity by ... Read More
