Just for people shopping, seems Honda anxious to move 2010 inventory so I picked up Insight EX w/o navigation for $18499 and got KBB plus $300 for my 2002 GMC minivan trade in. Insight did not seemed singled out for discounts, Accords and Civic hybrid also had attractive mark downs.
I have a 2002 Insight. CMA light came on, drove it awhile, during this time I got the same mileage as before the light came on. After a short time the car stopped, had it towed to Honda West, Las Vegas. It was confirmed that your code along with another was on and that the battery assembly and a control unit needed replacing. Honda replaced the battery assembly and control unit ... Read More
See your dealer. Warranty should cover . If not call Honda International. My 2002 had CMA light come on 90,000 miles. I called Honda. I was directed to the nearest dealer and a new battery was installed, no charge. Got free rental car while in shop.
I'd find a new dealer. Call Honda. They will remedy the situation. I call them to see if I could get a mechanic outside the agency but they wouldn't allow. They stated the any new installation would have a 150,000 mile warranty. When I called Honda West they agreed with the installation and did so free of charge. Be tough.
Had the battery replaced. Contrary to the info you received my battery has a new 150,000 mile warranty. The new battery is not working properly so back to Honda West.
Purchased a 2002 Insight about March 2010. Pickes it up in Tucson, Ari. drove it to Pahrump, Nv. (between 500 and 600 miles]. Did not need to refuel. refuel cost me about $23.00.Have really enjoyed the Insight, its style, comfort ( I'm 6'4") Attention getter. IMA came on a few days ago. Called Honda ( I wanted a mechanic in Pahrump to do the job but I was advised that (due ... Read More
"Now temps in Minnesota are 10-20 degrees. Mileage has now dropped to 32-35." I can't figure this out either but it seems to be normal for Toyota Prius to lose MPG's in cold weather. It seems a larger percent drop with a hybrid than with a normal car. I had a 2007 Dodge Caliber before gas skyrocketed, went from 30mpg in summer to 23 in winter. Currently have a 2002 Prius ... I just had the IMA battery components replaced a couple of months ago, but the mpg has only dropped to the level it usually does in the winter on my 2002 Insight CVT (mpg is lower 60's in summer; mid 50's in winter.) You might want to give American Honda a call, if you're not happy with the Dealer's response. BTW, my lifetime average mpg is 59.5 right now, but it ... Read More
My Honda 2002 Honda Insight has 116,000 miles on it. When fixing a judder problem they needed to replace my flywheel. As I drove home from that repair I felt a bumping feeling and later on the freeway there's been an intermittent juddering feeling at higher speeds (the recent judder problem was regarding juddering from idle to acceleration). My Honda dealer says this recent problem is due to busted transmission and ... Read More
Don't get scared, flash. I have just over 70,000 miles on my 2002 Insight w/CVT and lifetime mpg is just less than 60. My IMA light came on a couple of weeks ago, so I took it in to the Honda dealer. Nothing seemed amiss, except for the warning light coming on, but they ran a check and found the battery module, condition monitor, and motor control module needed to be ... Read More

I just purchased a 2002 Insight and I love it. But it leaks in the rain. A water stain appears under the rear side window. I'm afraid it's going into the battery compartment and that can't be good. I can't tell if it's the hatch, the side window or the door. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it? The Honda dealer said to go to a ... Read More
Hi Shewith: ___Hopefully the following will help? (1) The other day I looked under the hood of a 2002 Insight at a used-car dealer near me and neither the salesperson nor I could see the version (SULEV, ULEV, ...) listed anywhere. Is there a foolproof way to find out the version? ___On my 5-speed, there is a sticker on both the back rear window and underneath the hood ... Read More
I don't know much about cars, but I would like to buy an Insight to get high mpg (saving money is helpful) and to produce low greenhouse gas emissions (I work at being as green as I can afford). http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm has info on mpg and emissions. I selected the year, Honda, and Insight and it gave me info (and had links to other info) about various versions of an Insight. ... Read More

i has been two months since i saw the insight at pragon honda in queens, ny, well, i was there this weekend and it is still there. if the dealer was a little bit more flexible he would have sold that insight. even though people say that insights are sold at a loss, i still feel uncomfortable paying $20G's for it. it would increase my payments by $100 a month, and ...
