Love this vehicle, Minimal problems, Front wheel bearings were the most costly item I have put on this vehicle. Most maintenece items such as brakes, oil, tires.

I have owned 3 Ford Explorers now, and have loved each one of them. The first one was a 4 door as I had kids, and the 4 door seemed practical. After the kids left the nest I traded that Explorer ( nothing wrong with it) for a 2 door Explorer sport. I owned that vehicle for 13 years, sold it at 220,000 miles and it is still running great I am told. I had to sell my 2 door because I was starting to have grandchildren, and getting the little ones out of their car seats with a 2 door can be a little tricky. So, now I am back to a 4 door... Life sure revolves! But I love this Ford Explorer just like I loved the other two. The seats are so comfortable, the engine runs good, I feel very safe, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it from the Carolinas to California! Lately thought my transmission has been a little quirky, it doesn't feel like it is going out, it just shifts a little hard at times... but I have faith in her!! I will always be a Ford Explorer owner. It is now April of 2019. Since I last left my review above... I have had problems!! Both ball bearrigs went out, had some front end work of which I can't remember what all was wrong... but enough for me to not feel safe driving it, and I had to have the front Differential replaced... NOT CHEAP!!!! I have way more into this truck then it will ever be worth. Might as well just drive it to the ground. I am disappointed as the 2 previous Ford Explorers that I owned were SO good to me!!!

The MPG is not as good as smaller SUV's but it has the towing pkg from Ford and can tow up to a 6,000 # boat or camper trailer; & still have good power in the mountains. Good quiet ride on hiways. Excellent audio system (AM/FM & CD) No satellite radio.

We just are getting to the one year anniversary of our Explorer. We love it! Plenty of room for our kids and their soccer, baseball, volleyball stuff, etc. We just finished a trip to Houston, about 350 miles round trip and got our best mpg yet, a little over 22 hwy! That was with mid-grade fuel and running 75 mph for the most part with some Houston traffic built in. Here's hoping the 2nd yr report is as positive!
