Aston Martin V8 Vantage Prices Paid and Buying Experience

I got bored with my coupe and my LF-A won't be here for at least a year, maybe two, so I just traded my '06 with all options in for an '07 roadster also with all the options. I got $90k for my car (4400 miles) and paid $129k for the new car ($145k MSRP). The color of the new car is not ideal, triple black. The comment about lemons on ... Read More

I am a repeat Aston Vantage V8 buyer and I am very please with the quality and performance. I traded in my 2006 for a 2007 convertible, both with absolutely no trouble at all. I have owned many exotics, including the 91 Testarossa I have now. Ferraris are very high maintenance, just look at the cost of spark plug wires ($900). Typical maintenance on the Ferrari runs $9-11k. All marks have ... Read More

To be honest, I barely remember writing the post you are responding to, and in the meantime, there seems to be a heightened tension between AM and Porsche that I really don't care to exacerbate. They indeed are very different cars, and as I recall, I thought it odd that AM itself would seek to "target" the 911 as the performance standard for the more GT oriented V8, hence my previous ... Where I live Porcs are as common as dirt, so there is no exclusivity to owning one. A raised middle digit is also a common expression by others to a Porc driver, one that I have never received in my AM. Finally, the styling of the 911 does not come close to that of the AM. The V8V is acknowledged by almost all as one of the most beautiful automobiles on ... Read More

I think it's clearly a beautiful car, but I wouldn't trade my particular 911S Cabriolet for it even up. Notwithstanding Aston's claim that the 911 was their target, the V8 is a 2 seat "roadster" that weighs 500 lbs more than the 997S Cab (which can carry my wife AND two daughters). The Aston is a lot closer in weight to a BMW 6 series, Jag XKE or Mercedes SL550 than ... Read More

Waiting for A/M to find me an exact new replacement (more difficult than it may sound due to lack of availability). If they can't supply one within a reasonable timeframe then a full refund will be in order.

Did you get your "full refund"? Sorry to hear about your problems. Makes me want to go out and hug my 911S that has 12,400 virtual trouble free miles on it. I'd have blown a gasket if I went through what you have.

BOUGHT A 2007 VANTAGE V8 NEW, IN NOV. 2006 FOR ABOUT $125,000, FROM THE COLLECTION, CORAL GABLES, FL. LONG LIST OF DIFFERENT PROBLEMS WITH ONE MAJOR PROBLEM FROM NEW. THE CAR DOESN'T START AND WHEN IT DOES IT STALLS OR RUN ROUGH DURING WARM UP, RPM'S AT AROUN 400, SOUNDS LIKE A MILITARY TANK FIRING ON TWO CYLINDERS. DEFINATELY A 'LEMON'. BEEN IN WORKSHOP 3 TIMES, 21 DAYS OUT OF USE, ... Read More

2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage vs. 2007 Maserati Quattroporte?

  • 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage vs. 2007 Maserati Quattroporte?

Written by: benvolio on Dec 14, 2006 7:33:02 PM

I'm trying to decide between these two cars. I know they're very different, but these ended up being two cars I really like within my price range. It's a tough choice because this car would be used as my primary, everyday car, which probably doesn't bode well for the Aston. I've also thought about the Mercedes CLS 63, the BMW M6, and the Porsche 911 Turbo. Any thoughts?
