Great spacious and sustainable SUV
This is my second XC90 Plug-in Hybrid. We are 5 in my family, and having a third row means we can bring friends or relatives along. Now that two of my kids have team sports I can bring them along with 4 other friends. We drive between 12 and 60 miles a day, depending if my wife or I take the car. In my office I can charge the car. At hole we have a 230 volts charger. Our first gas tank lasted for 3 months. We basically need to refill whenever we go for road trips. I love that sustainable aspect. I really like the safety features, in particular, the pilot assist. Being able to follow the car in front all the way toa full stop in traffic is great! But having the capability to keep you centered in your lane as long as it is painted, is fantastic. I basically keep a hand in the wheel so it senses it but all the turning, acceleration and breaking is done by the car when in the highway. It makes driving less tiring and more enjoyable. It is also very quiet. Not just when running fully electric, but because it does a good job isolating outside noise. It also has a great air filtration system. I can barely smell any bad outside odors when driving, specially handy when driving behind smoky cars. Seats are comfortable, and the third road is not bad, although you might need to move the 2nd row seats forward a bit if your guest’s sitting in third row are taller. Plenty of space in the trunk with the third row down. With that one up, you do have less room. The car also has great visibility looking forward. The apple maps with CarPlay now also show in the display behind the steering wheel. I still think it looks sharp and have no complains.

Early days, but seems like a great car.
Have not had it long, but we love the XC90. Roomy, comfortable, and surprisingly fast even when driving just on the battery. We bought the 2024 'Ultimate' trim -- including the fine crystal shifter that looks just like cast acrylic -- but without the air suspension and B&W sound system. The air suspension made the ride feel a bit mushy and standard Harmon Kardon sound system is plenty good. The only slightly unpleasant surprise was learning that it's limited to rear wheel drive when in pure electric mode. We'll see how that works on our snowy streets. But, for now, we're happy with our XC90 Recharge.

Plagued With Issues
I've had my XC90 Recharge for about 6 months now, and I am already shopping for another vehicle. I will say that I love the way it drives. It is incredibly smooth and it's very fast. That's about as far as my positive comments go... I have had endless problems with incomplete over the air software updates leaving my car with functionality issues (or needing to take it to the dealership for an update, but never getting any notification of that), one leaving me stranded at the airport upon returning from a trip. Other issues were with the infotainment screen randomly turning off, the entire dash has went dark, my glovebox wouldn't open, the back hatch sometimes doesn't fully open and makes an awful noise. The lack of wireless car play and uncomfortable seats are two other minor issues.

Where has all the safety gone?????
I purchased a 2024 XC90 Ultimate recharge plug in in March when my 2019 XC90 Inscription was totaled when a deer ran in front of us on a highway in Pennsylvania and we emerged without a scratch and whiplash. My new car has had nothing but problems with the electronics!!!! It has been in the shop for software update and now is in the shop for 2 weeks because 5 different notices of failure came up on the dashboard. I have learned that the front mitigation system only activates at 37 mph and does not have a setting. A bicyclist crossed in front of me when I was making a 3 point turn and the car didn't make a sound. Someone would be killed at 37mph. My previous car had a setting for distance and speed and it saved many a fender bender. The rear break causes the car to come to a stop when backing up with a bike rack and can cause whiplash. The service department tells me they need Volvo central to remotely advise. I am without my new car for two weeks. I am a 5 time Volvo owner and this is unacceptable. I opened a case with Volvo as I feel like I have a lemon. The car drives like a dream but these problems make me concerned about the technology, future costs and the reliability of the safety that Volvo is known for.

Major Improvements
I traded my 2021 XC90 T8 for a 2024 T8. The first one was pretty good (obviously - since I went back). All the quirky things have been worked out. I previously complained about the charging pad - it's gone. The navigation is replaced by a great Google Maps. The dashboard is much improved and the touch screen is so much easier to use. The XC90 was already very comfortable car and very fast. The battery has almost double the range (>36 miles) and the upgraded Bowers Wilkins sound is amazing. For car in this class - I looked at them all (again) - this is currently the three row SUV to choose.
