One serious flaw
There is no way to turn off the engine auto stop start. In Florida at a stop light, air conditioning reduced. Unfortunately, a “fatal” flaw with this otherwise nice package.
Review 2024 xc40
This car is quite attractive inside and out. However I I am surprised and disappointed at the gas mileage with a 2.0 engine and electric start I expected better gas mileage. 2nd the backup camera turns off in many instances when needed. One example when changing your temperature control while in reverse the camera does not come on again although I may be backing up. 3rd the screen electronics are too difficult to use and creates safety concerns. The screen is far too difficult to make changes and frequently requires attention to the screen which takes your focus off driving.

Happy owner
What I like is the way it drives, it's very quiet I like the way that Google system works on a vehicle, I haven't found anything I don't like yet we have less than 500 miles on it.

Complicated and time consuming
I traded my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a Volvo primarily because my wife wasn’t comfortable driving the larger Jeep. 1st off I was very pleased with the appearance of th Volvo and it was a pleasure to drive. Disappointments were discovered after purchase which I’ll list. My XC40 B5 has dynamic cruse control buttons but no dynamic cruse control and it cannot be added. No tire pressure display. It does have a very old system based on wheel speed indicators that will provide a falt once a tire gets seriously deflated. I’m guessing it will not identify the offending tire. Blind spot indicator is visual only and audio is not available. All of the above features were standard on my Jeep

Some pros and cons. XC 40 Plus.
Start with the pros. The vehicle is well built. Fit and finish is good. Seats are comfortable and the interior materials are first class. The engine and transmission are paired well and the vehicle accelerates well. The brakes work well. The AWD system is seamless. The Google interface is one of the best I have used, and it understands verbal commands. The Cons. If you touch the gas pedal and release, then press again, the vehicle hesitates as it decides whether to us the 48 volt motor or gas engine to move the car from a start again. There is excessive tire noise at highway speeds. The gas mileage is not great for a hybrid. The seats could use a little more bolster. The engine is a little noisy, should be a little more quiet for a premium vehicle. The Harmon Kardon upgrade is TERRIBLE. I previously owned stereo stores. The sound is only centrally located, there is not an equalizer or real tone controls, there is no fader or balance controls (only driver/front/rear emphasis) and the sub-woofer/surround controls have little effect. The final decision to trade this car was the car leaked oil all over my garage after a dealer oil change service because they did not tighten the drain plug.
