Fisrt & Last VW
My VW experience has been horrible. I have finally given up on taking it back to the dealer for warranty issues because the problems are always there after the visit. Their response when I asked if they got everything taken care of was "couldn't duplicate the problem" or "onboard computer didn't show any issues." Well, let me tell you something, I'm surprised that someone hasn't been killed (maybe they have and I'm not aware) due to driving these defective vehicles. Specifically, I refer to pulling / merging into traffic and having it "fall on it's nose" when you try to accelerate! This is my biggest issue with the vehicle, however I have also had all the malfunctioning warning signals, etc.
One of the Best SUVs!!!
I tested and studied many SUVs before getting this one and I have to say it's the best value for the money right now and probably for a while. It's not the best in all of the fields, but it is either equal or better than the others. Something only a few can claim and prove. Performs similar to a BMW X5-on road, rides similar to a Lexus RX330, and performs similar to a Range Rover- off road.

Helluva Car
After 2,000 miles, car is just great. Have Audi A8 with similar engine. Both awsome. However, shifting from D3,D2,D1 or back up again, car goes into "no where land". Punch the gas, nothing. Also, nobody can figure out how to install XM Satellite Radio.
FUN Solid Drive
I havent had this much fun driving a car since my new '85 Corvette. Excellent in the deep snow and nibble on dry curve roads at speed, and I do mean speed! I test drove most of the top end SUVs..FX45/ML500/X5 and Murano. The Touareg beat them hands down for drive, acceleration and comfort . This is my daily commuter (125 miles) Wash. D.C. Beltway to rural roads in Pa. ONE FUN CAR!
never again
superb handling and performance is easily forgotten considering the problems its had. 15 months and 18k miles later it has been in the shop at least 8 times for more than 30 days. Service department was friendly but inept at fixing any of the electric malfunctions that plague this vehicle. I bought early and should have expected problems with the new model, but now 15 months later there is no excuse for not being able to fix the same issues I brought it in for within days of driving it off the lot. Do not buy one of these unless you have a satisfaction or money back guarantee from the dealer and at least 30 days to drive it before you pay.
