9,000 mi. car has been in shop more than 14 times. CD, NAV, constant problem with warning lights, rear lift keeps opening for no reason. Most dangerous is when driving from 1 thru 2nd car goes to neutral so you are turning into intersection and car does nothing. How many visits. VOA sent me to "Best" dlr. in area - clueless. Buy 2 cars year, never complained about the usual. This truck just has so many and nobody seems to care.

This vehicle has caused numerous problems for me. The technology is constantly misinforming me of things. For instance, the tire pressure monitoring system tells me my front driver side tire is flat. A big exclamation point is constanly on my screen. The tire has been checked and is perfectly normal. My advice is....give Volkswagen a few more years to perfect the gliches in this vehicle before you buy one.

Think twice about the Touareg

We bought the VW T, 8c, primarily looking for an SUV with the weight benefit for tax purposes (greater than 6k lbs.) The Touareg is great fun to drive, but the problems we have had with it, to date (9 months) have been RIDICULOUS. Started from day 1, when things were broken after getting back from the dealership. 3 different recall issues having to visit the service dealership. Dozens of little things, that are annoying and need to be fixed with service visits. I'd advise against the Touareg at least until the 2005 model year... too many things wrong with the first model year here in the US. memo to VW.. work on service if you want to compete

We loved the design and many other things. However, this car is at the garage all the time. The warning message comes up all the time , falsely stating that the tires are flat, or we shud check tire pressure. The break lights failed, then the radio/ nav system failed (they put in a new one, now we cant get certain chanels), then the hazard switch could not be turned off and neede replacing etc. We did 10000 miles and already need new tires. Tomorrow is the fifth time within 10 days that I am going to the garage...

We have owned the vehicle for about 3 months and the problems keep mounting. Terrible transmission. Gear changing is very hard and unpredictable. VW says this is normal. Seats are not comfortable and the vehicle rides rough. We like the Interior features such as the Navigation and Stereo. The constant reminders going off are annoying. We have taken it for 7 problems in a 4 month period, including 3 recalls. We wish we could trade it but the value has dropped like a rock so we are stuck with it. Let VW fix the many issues and consider purchasing one in about 3 years. Maybe then the transmission will actually resemble a car and not a bulldozer.
