Catchy little car
I bought a used 2018 Tiguan. It's a tidy vehicle and well-laid out. It has all the bells and whistles I wanted and then some. The panoramic sunroof is quite nice and led lighting that frames it is cool. The transmission is good, but the fun comes in S mode (Sport). If you haven't driven in S mode, you are missing out. A noticeable difference in acceleration for sure. It changed my entire opinion of this vehicle. But be aware, that when you tap that pedal to accelerate in S mode, it jumps off immediately, so if you are in stop and go traffic, I would recommend popping back into (D)rive, otherwise, things get jerky. I don't exactly have a light touch, so this is a strategy that works fine for me. It's a roomy car. My 6'3" brother fit easily into the back seat and was comfortable. No knee banging. I like the subtlety of the safety features. There is not a bunch of beeping and shuttering like I've experienced in other cars, but the warnings are enough to get your attention. I didn't want the start/stop feature, but this car does have it. But I do like that I can easily turn it off with the touch of a readily accessible button next to the gear shift. Also, if the AC or heat is on, the car will not execute the feature because it recognizes that the engine needs to stay on. It's a solid car and I am quite happy with its performance.

The Great Trap
The vehicle has a good feel to it, and the turbo engine is a very nice feature. I was only able to put 15k miles on it before it fell apart; again and again and again. I took it in for warranty repairs 19 times. The heated seat failed twice causing an airbag error. The CV joint went, the brake caliper and holder broke, the struts broke, the touch screen display glitches out and lags with rear camera trying its best to cause an accident, the tail light failed. The engine also had malfunctions and failures that needed work but I cant remember what the replacements made were called.. Additionally the car brakes with collision detection when there is nothing in front of you! The rental 2024 version did the same! Glad to know they haven't fixed the issue 6 years later. Absolutely pathetic product and company. The replacement parts are also failing but the warranty expires, time to trade-in. Nothing special about this car other than it's horrendous track record. I'm afraid to buy another car knowing that this vehicle has decent ratings. It just goes to show that it's a huge gamble with the lack of quality control. I will never buy a Volkswagen ever again, and encourage everyone else to do the same.

18 month Anniversary with 30K miles
So I bought the Tiguan SE last summer. We cross shopped VW against Acura as our final top two choices. My final decision to lease the Tiguan SE came down to Carnet, the ride of the Tiguan, thirdrow seat (for the little ones, we have an 8 year old). I decided to lease for my real estate business and love this car! I am planning on purchasing it when we come out of the lease if possible. I love the safety light sensors on the mirrors, the apple car play is fabulous. I live in my car so comfort, some good speakers and a nice ride are really important to me. There have been no service issues on our vehicle, some minor flat tires etc. We did receive a notice for a recall, will take the vehicle in soon, but hands down the best value for the money, drive and safety.

No issue after 3 years and 24000 miles
Over past 3 years there were few recalls but non major. After 3 years it still drives as solid and as tight like it did on day 1. 4motion works very well in rain. Fuel economy is 24city / 30highway on average I’m getting 26 miles per gallon. Two issues: 1 Ride is harsh on bad roads, but that is true for most German car companies. 2 Engine also sounds whiny on hard acceleration. My next car will be Lexus RX350
