It had 6 electrical failures in 3 years. That is just too much! This car was less reliable than my 9 year old Chrysler! Luckily, I leased it so I did not have to sell it.

Aesthetically fun car and very fun to drive. Durable exterior. Some pieces of interior are not very well-made, cup holder not well-engineered, sensors on dash not always reliable. Recent vehicle emission recall was issued.

I had problems with my car a week after delivery. Here are the problems. 1) Rear hatch not closing properly. 3 visits to the shop before it was fixed. 2) Door not shutting flushed. 3) Broken power window and switch. 5) Gas flap servo broken twice. 6) Both honks broken and a dead battery. 7) Broken speedometer cable. 8) Oxygen sensor broken twice. 9) Door handle cover plastic is peeling. 10) Paint on steering spooke is peeling. I should have gotten rid of the car a long time ago. This time I will as the last repair bill was $750, not to mention the time lost and the inconvenience I had to put up with.

Love to drive it, but tired of problems.

When I bought this car, it had about 60ish thousand miles on it. Has transmission problems, doesn't like to go in reverse or it slips around the third gear. (Automatic). And VW wants 3k+ for a replacement! Even rebuilt ones online are over 1k. Replaced the water pump twice, the timing belt once. The headlights have both gone out, and take forever to replace. We have done all of the work at home, to save money, and it is a pain to do work on it, things are hard to get to. Car burns oil Recently replaced the starter and battery. I love driving this car, I can take corners at 45+ with no problem. The CD player it came with never worked, and my seat heater stopped working- but it's a sturdy car

From this experience I will never buy another Volkswagen again, and that's sad because I own 3 older ones. Starting from the broken CD on through the broken sunroof, just about anything mechanical that can fall apart did. We have had our Beetle into the dealer 5 times for various issues which included a recalled oxygen sensor to sputtering performance. And ironically, everytime we took it in our moron mechanics failed to report it. I will never buy a car from Continental of Joplin again, and Volkswagen has lost my family's business forever for shoddy workmanship and terrible dealer service. I rate this car the worst ever purchased.
