Clutch Goes At 29000 miles?
Ok i have had my Jetta for 3 months now and i have had to pay 1500 to get my clutch and fly-Wheel replaced and I asked a friend that restores love bugs and he said that it has a hydrolic clutch that is damn neer impossible to beun out yet VW says it was all my faut. But last wed some trick rearended me and pushed my Jetta under a pickup truck totaling the jetta which i guess ended the saga of that car. The two things good about the car is the proformance and the car held its ground in the accident other than the fact that the air-bags didnt go off.
VW Service is for the Birds
With a missing amplifier at our purchase, to 4 years of sound system problems, I am fed up with VW's lack of responsibility for their product. After 2 1/2 years of daignosis on an poorly installed amplifier, we thought our days of leaving the Jetta for service all day were over. Wrong, now a little over a year later we are back with the same issue and Don Jacobs VW in Lexington, KY will not revisit their work to check the issue and VW of America will not support the consumer because the year's warranty on the replaced parts is now over. Consumers will spend more time at the dealership (without resolve) than enjoying their brand new cars!

Great looks - No reliability
Electronic problem with ABS system. Radiator sprung a leak. Electronic problems with air flow. Electronic problems with rear breaks. Master brake cylinder had an internal leak. Brake light switch is defective. Horse power and fuel efficiency are lower than spec. Power windows do not operate properly. Side mirror adjustment dial poorly made, for that matter there are cheap plastic parts throughout this car. Arm rest latch broke, ashtray for year passengers will not stay shut. Lower black grills in front of car fall out. Front bumber cover pops off. Black paint around dash board peels off. Cloth interior poorly made and glued down. The door locks have barbs on them that pinch skin!!
NEVER BUY ANOTHER VW
I was so excited to buy a new vw, but that excitment faded quickly. The coils in the engine are defective. Volkswagen will only replace them as they crack so you are forced to send your car to the dealership everytime it breaks down. They do give you a rental but I had a rental for over 2 months because they had so many problems with other cars that the coils where on back order. This was not the service I was expecting from vw. I also had been complaining about my drivers side window having problems and they said there is another manufacture problem but they will not fix the problem untill the window actually breaks and slides down into the door.
Poor reliablity
I purchased my Jetta used with 26000 miles on it in 2002. Within 6 weeks of owning, I had a repair bill of $600+ at the dealrship. Honestly this car has been a service nightmare, the most recent recall of the brake light switch required 3 trips within a 10 day period before it was operational. The first time it was taken in, I had to return it the next day as it lost all horsepower while driving. Needless to say, they told me they had no control over the part after it past testing. It has been the biggest headache of a car. steer clear unless you enjoy visiting the dealership on a monthly basis.
