Used 1999 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan Consumer Reviews
Loved this car!!
I bought this car when it was three years old, and it drove like new. I'd been wanting a Jetta for some time and it was everything I hoped it would be. The car is very comfy and everything on the dash and console was within my reach. In the five years I had it, it only had a few engine troubles, and it never cost more than $200 to fix. I never had the $1000+ repair bills like with previous cars (Nissan, Plymouth, Dodge). It served me well for the five years and 120K miles on it. I would still like to have kept it for a few more years, but I just got rear-ended and sadly it's totaled, so now I'm getting a 2005 Jetta Wagon! I love these cars!
Happy with Jetta
Above average vehicle. No engine leaks at 116,000 miles - unheard of. Still a tight running car.
Well Served
I've been very pleased with my Jetta. It's fun to drive and it looks great. The only draw back was the standard roll-up windows. I'm glad to know the 2003's will have power as part of the standard model. A little tight in the back seat. I would buy another.
I will NEVER buy a VW again
From day one, this car has been nothing but trouble. I fell in love with the looks (exterior/interior), but failed to research warranty and reliability. Things that happened: Exterior paint has come off in some places, had to have emergency brake cable replaced, had to have spark plug re-wiring done, had to get starter replaced (engine died), and had to have muffler replaced all under 50,000 miles. Tires didn't last long, and neither did the brake pads. Repairs have cost me $2,500 plus and dealers were not helpful. Buyer Beware...I think I'll go back to Toyotas which never gave me trouble. The new Camry we have is GREAT!
Love My Jetta
This has been the best car I have ever owned! All I do is the basic maintenance on it. I've had this car for over three years and will have it for many more. I see that a lot of people are complaining about the new model. Maybe VW should not have changed a good thing!
