I traded in a 2007 Camry Hybrid for the 2020 XLE. I LOVED my hybrid, I HATE the new Camry (not a hybrid-they had none available). Headroom is reduced and I actually hit my head getting out of the car. The engine, while it has pick-up is very sluggish when cold and extremely noisy. I never felt like I was driving a 4 cylinder in the hybrid but I certainly do now. The seats, I guess are … meant to hug you, but feel too narrow because of how they turn up and while I'm not little, I'm average sized so I can't imagine how a larger person would feel. They moved the button for the heated seats from in front of the under dash storage back to just in front of the console making it so that I have to look down to turn it off and on. The ride is stiff and the low profile tires don't help. While the trunk is larger (its now the same in a hybrid and regular as they moved the battery under the back seats), it isn't as large as you think if you are storing bins as there are plastic guards that narrow the opening all the way back. So far, the gas mileage is extremely disappointing. Should be 31 round town and 40 highway. I've only got 500 miles on the car and with combined, mostly round town driving, I'm getting 20. Even in my 2007 round town I got 28 and the new hybrid says it gets 50 everywhere. I'm told it needs to "break-in" and I should get better mileage after 5,000 miles - yeah, for me that's another 3+ years down the road. Other little features are more cheaply made and some added features are nice, like the back-up camera. Could be me, but I think they moved the mirrors toward the back a bit on the door and I just don't feel like I have a good view of cars coming up next to me, although the mirrors have a blinking light to tell you there is someone next to you. It is easy to drive and handles well, but I would take my 2007 hybrid back in a heartbeat. I wanted to stay with a Camry because of their reliability and I loved my 2007 and they may continue to be really safe but given more time, I would have looked at other cars. Very disappointed.
OK, so to update my review - I traded in my 2020 Camry for a 2020 Hybrid and I am much happier. I have gotten used to some of the changes which were annoying at first (smaller seat, position of seat heater buttons and don't need to put large bins in my trunk anymore), those are still the same, but the biggest change is the pick-up. The Hybrid makes ALL the difference in making this car enjoyable. No issues now with hesitation or lack of power when cold. While I'm still not getting 50 mpg, the 34 strictly around town is acceptable. It does increase with highway driving. I don't know how they get mileage, but I wish they'd be more realistic when they post mpg. Plus this car added options, some that should be standard, like lighted visor mirrors! I now have a sun roof and navigation and cooled seats, but the biggest plus is the pick-up which makes this 4 cylinder feel more like a 6. So, don't give up on Camry, just make sure you get the hybrid if you want pick-up.
