2023 Nissan Rogue
Had a 2013 Subaru Outback that was totaled in a crash. I did consider another Outback but it didn't pass muster. I purchased a 2023 Nissan Rogue SL for several important reasons, with one no more important than any other.
1. Better fuel economy and power from the engine. The 1.5L three cylinder turbo engine produces 50 lb-ft more torque than the larger four found in the Subaru and at … lower RPMs. Fuel economy is about 15% better than the Subaru and both vehicles are AWD.
2. The safety features are more intuitive and easier to use in the Nissan.
3. All controls such as climate, navigation, radio are dependent on a large touchscreen. If that fails, you are screwed. Nissan has separate buttons and knobs for climate and radio. Navigation is a combination of touchscreen and a knob as is audio.
4. The interior of the Nissan is more open and airy than the Subaru. The Nissan capacity to haul stuff is slightly less than the Subaru but the shape of the cargo area allows you to pack in more stuff. Outward visibility is pretty equal.
5. The Rogue is a better handling car hands down. It is more tossable on winding roads. It is also easier to park.
A couple of recommendations. Tires. Get something better than the Bridgestone tires that come with the car. Secondly, put a K&N in place of the stock engine air filter. Major difference in power delivery including significant reduction in turbo lag.
