9 years & 101K miles later the car runs great! The only major repairs I’ve had are a new alternator ($900) at 100K mikes and two new rear shocks ($600) at about 90k miles. Nearly all of the Venza's I see on the road are AWD. I got an LE FWD V6 & think it handles great in the snow. The stability control helps when roads are slick. I love the power, it rockets off of the line & aids with overtaking on the hwy. Fuel economy was right around 21 mpg until the last year with mostly in town drives. The new average is 19.3 mpg. This # is reflected in my math as well as the car's computer. This mileage comes with 87 & 91 octane, it dips to a lower mpg when I use 85 octane. I love this car & am really happy I got it. I test drove a Murano and found it rode too stiff (Jeepish), and a Ford Edge (which was nice but a bit stiff & felt smaller). The back seat overhead entry light did not work from the day I got it. I had the dealer check it out, and it took 3 different service visits for them to determine that the FRONT entry light/garage opener assembly had a defect. Once that was replaced it worked fine.

6 year update

2013 Toyota Venza Limited 4dr Wagon (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Have racked up my 6th year ownership (67+K miles) on my 2013 Venza Limited with V-6 engine and just traded it in for a new car. The Venza has been a pleasure to own and the most reliable car I've ever owned. I hate pickups and prefer sedans so this was a good compromise. The mileage could be better averaging around 22-23 MPG on regular fuel. There have been no maintenance issues other than one. Apparently Japanese manufacturers use "green" products under the hood that are derived from peanut oils and these attract rodents who will chew up your hoses, wires, etc. I caught this early before any severe damage was done (repairs cost about $300). I now use countermeasures like putting mothballs under the hood to keep out pests which seems to work for the most part. Otherwise I like the way this car drives and feel the V6 provides reasonable performance. The interior could be more luxurious and offer more features and some of the fit and finish is a bit off. The Infotainment system could be better and the screen's too small. Also the Nav system selects some truly bizarre routes at times which has me scrambling for my phone and Google Maps to bail me out. Bottom line, this is a practical and ultra reliable crossover with plenty of power, average mileage, and reasonably comfortable.

Sold the Venza and bought a Murano

The Venza was discontinued in 2015 and wish I would have known this before purchasing the 2014 model in August 2014. I suppose they were anxious to sell but would have been nice to know. Also, the AWD model is underpowered with a the 4 cylinder engine and cruise control on the highway is very jerky on hills so should have bought the 6 cylinder. There are also several little quirks such as the sunroof not fully opening and stopping when closing, USB cable dropping down from the docking station, window wind noise on the highway, unreadable navigation display in the sunlight, gas mileage lower than the advertised sticker and door locks not all opening simultaneously.
