My First 1,000 Miles in Venza

I just went over 1,000.00 miles on my 2014 Venza XLE FWD V6 after owning the car for 20 days. The most impressive thing about this vehicle is the 3.5 L V6. It is powerful, relatively quiet and works seamlessly with the 6 speed automatic transmission. I am averaging just over 20 mpg in mostly city driving thus far. I have observed up to 30 mpg on the computer in short highway trips traveling at 60 and 70 mph. (Hopefully these figures will improve even further as the engine gets fully broken in). The only negative that I need to write about is the jarring ride on rough pavement. Toyota must do a better job tuning the suspension to complement the 20 in. wheels. I like the roomy cabin.

Great car but really poor brakes

Bought this car new. Have taken it to three Dealerships: one in Texas, one in Georgia and the other here in Florida. The Brake pedal travel is excessive. Almost hit the rear of the car in front of me on numerous occasions. Very scary situation and will cause me to sell this car. The dealerships all have told me it's a design issue with this car and can't be fixed or improved. Even my brother-in-law's Toyota minivan's brakes are much better than this thing. To bad as it is such a well thought out utility sized vehicle.

I had a very bad experience with Karl Malone Toyota when buying this vehicle. My strongest suggestion whenever you buy a car is to PERSONALLY write down the VIN# of the vehicle you are buying and check it against the one they put on your contract!! DO NOT trust the sales staff!! While they were shoving paperwork at me and the car had been taken to the prep area, they switched cars on me. The vehicle I drove off in looked identical to the one I thought I had purchased but it did not seem to have the same power. Since I was the last one out the door that Friday night and lived 300 miles away, I chose to return the next week upon my return to the area. That's when I discovered they had put the VIN# of the four-cylinder vehicle on my contract, which was what I drove home, instead of the six-cylinder one I thought I had purchased. All that aside, for an underpowered vehicle she has done extremely well traveling upwards of 1500 miles a week on the I-15 corridor in Utah between St. George and Salt Lake City through the mountains and valleys, and changing the weather in between. The AWD has been most useful. When I first purchased the car she only got 12-15 mpg, while rated at 27mpg - SHOCKING! Through careful and proper maintenance I eventually raised it to 21mpg. Then I added a Hydrogen Assist Fuel Cell [HAFC] to the engine and that boosted me to 24-25. My only complaint is that the pedals are touchy. It's difficult to get smooth starts and stops. At 200,000+ miles she still runs like new!

100k mile Venza review. Super reliable SUV

Ok so I was super excited to buy this car when I did. Purchased it 1 year pre-loved here in Southern California with roughly 20k miles on it. I bought it because I wanted something that I knew I was going to have for awhile, and boy did I have this for awhile. I just recently sold it to buy a family truck, but I miss it!! It was SO RELIABLE, spacious, comfortable. I literally didn't have to do any unexpected maintenance on it the entire 9 years I owned it. Just oil changes, brakes, and regularly scheduled maintenance. The controls worked well and were easy to use. Yes now that it's 2023, 10 years later the tech has come a long way since this car but honestly it suited my needs perfectly well even up until now. Yeah, it doesn't have all the new stuff cars now have, like parking assist, lane keeping assist, heads up display, but it drove well, I always felt safe in it with my 4 year old. Though I must say the 4cyl could not keep up on uphill ascents, so I did wish I had purchased the V6. But it was plenty roomy for our family of 3 and all our stuff. We've taken it to Mammoth Mountain numerous times and it did fine. The new Venzas are smaller than this one, which is a bummer. If you want something that is super dependable, safe and comfortable for a growing family this is a great suv. Controls are simple, you can connect your phone via bluetooth. If they had made the new Venzas as big as this old one I would buy another one.
