Undrivable for EV-only mode
The pedestrian whine is running AT ALL TIMES under 22mph. You have a high pitched whine going off literally every time you approach a stop, or leave from a stop. My intention for this car was to be EV at all times in my most locally driving life, and then use the ICE/hybrid for longer trips. The whine is so loud it's infuriating. And I have only had it in winter with the windows closed so far. The backup whine makes sense, but the forward whine is unbearable. I had a Tesla model 3 for three years. Imagine the backup whine, but even louder, and running at all times under 22mph. I regret buying this car so much. It wasn't charged when I test drove it, so it was running the ICE. I was more concerned with comfort, and it never occurred to me there would be a forward whine.
Audio: F; CarPlay: D
It shouldn’t be so hard to turn on the radio and select stations or settings. But it involves multiple steps on a screen that takes eyes off the road. And wireless Apple CarPlay is great—when it works. It often won’t connect. Dealer couldn’t help when I called. On the plus side, I like the car, especially the 42 miles on a charge and low 50s in summer. It’s pretty too.

Stud car
Nice car my only complaint is it's hard for me to get in the car. Head room could be better!

Excellent car overall
RAV4 prime is really two different cars: a q rather exciting 300hp when your battery is full, and noticeably slower, traditional Toyota hybrid once the battery is depleted. One big con is the cost of electricity in my state is so high that I pay a lot more per mile on electric power. I thought I would save, but I don’t. However, I enjoy my 0 to 60 in 6 seconds so much, I keep charging it every day. I am glad I disregarded the low “handling” marks in reviews, because it performs amazingly well on electric power!
