Used 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Consumer Reviews
XSE exceeds expectations
Two weeks ago today, picked up XSE in Springfield OR (thanks KeIth!) Equipped exactly as I needed with Technology and weather packages. Panoramic sunroof. Only needed to add all OEM weather mats front, rear, and hatch areas. I live in Northern CA. Used Costco buying program to get significantly under MSRP. Not only did CA dealers not have XSE with specs I wanted, those few they had were over MSRP due to demand. I tried many CR buying program TruValue dealers to no avail. Last evening my desire to have the technology package for the rear braking paid off. As I was backing out of a parking place, a car veered off the adjacent street and sped inches past my bumper. I’d wondered how to test the auto braking feature. I’m a believer and thrilled with this safety feature. Already have over 1300 miles on odometer. My husband thinks the passenger seat is fine, not an issue as we’ve read in reviews. Looking forward to CR’s formal review. I’m totally delighted with ours. UDATE - One year later, our XSE proves ideal for us and our dogs! We have the synthetic leather seats and I got factory all weather mats for interior and cargo areas. They fit perfectly and I can wipe down everything quickly no matter what we haul. I’m so glad we didn’t go Subaru route. Caveat is we do have the hybrid fuel capacity limitation. That PEEVES me big time and it is shameful Toyota put a product out with driving range significantly below the advertised numbers! I loathe going to refuel more often than needed simply because it will not fill to capacity - a big deal during covid-19 pandemic times. Shameful, Toyota, where’s your promised fix?!?!?! That does not detract from my review because the vehicle itself works so well for us. No hesitation to buy again. Oh, this winter I loved the weather package with heated steering wheel, so glad I held out for that option.

Designed for apple iphone not galaxy
So far I really like this car, it drives nice and looks great. I bought the sxe hybrid with all of the upgrades... 2 things to be aware of. 1. The phone pairing system is an apple carplay system and doesn't play well with samsung. When I try and import my phone contacts it freezes up at 515 contacts and automatically reboots the whole system. The only way I can use bluetooth is if you go to settings and unselect the "Contact Access". This way you can at least play music. You just won't be able to use any contact information. This is really annoying considering it is almost a $40k vehicle. The Dealership couldn't figure it out either. 2. Since it's a hybrid it has a screeching almost ear piercing choir noise coming from a speaker under the hood when engaged in reverse as a safety feature. It's obscenely loud and I always get horrified looks from passerby's who think my car is about to explode. There is no fix for this as it will throw an error code if disabled. I just wish that Toyota would have made the noise a few decibels lower and a little more pleasant. Hopefully Toyota fixes these problems in the near future or I'm afraid I might have some buyers remorse.

Amazed by the deal that this AWD hybrid provides
I was surprised to learn that the 2019 Toyota Rav4 has much better mileage compared to similar competitors , while being less than $1,000.00 higher in price compared to the non-hybrid Rav4. I've been a CRV owner for decades but made the switch in order to take advantage of the gas mileage. So far I am getting about 44.5-45.5 mpg (with the higher range being on small-town roads and downtown driving, and the lower end of the range on highways). The car is smooth and quiet. I haven't driven it in winter months yet but Rav4s have a good reputation in this regard. It is comfortable and takes on hills and acceleration without problem. The rear view camera is much better than what I had in my last CRV, and the safety features that come standard are excellent. I did spring for the blind spot monitoring which did not come standard with the LE version. I believe was an additional $600.00 or so, but also came with side mirror heating which is nice. So far I am thrilled with the ride, and have so much fun watching how far I can go on one tank of gas!

Great ride !!!
Bought the hybrid xse trim and absolutely love it. Really pleased with Toyota safety sense features that you pay extra for in other suv`s. Wish I would have waited a bit to get the upgraded stereo but that's ok. Fit and finish. Excellent. Engine . Plenty of power quite nice actually. No problem passing on the highway. Acceleration isn't that loud at all to me. Saw reviews on gas model. Had a 15 rav so I'm familiar with them but when I saw the 19 in the showroom I was impressed !! More impressed now that I own one. I fully expect the craftsmanship to be quality thru and thru as all of my Toyota's have been and I've been driving them for 25 years now !! Fuel mileage ?? Spot on love it. Thru 4 tanks of gas I'm averaging 40.8 mpg!! 50/50 combined driving. I'm impressed I'll take it !! If you're looking check out the hybrid rav4. Great style great looks great ride. At least I think so !! I live in Wisconsin so we'll see how the AWD system in this hybrid version works in winter. So far though its 2 thumbs up for the hybrid !!!

Amazed
We have put on a little over 2k miles and are amazed with the gas mileage. We have averaged 47 over the 2k miles in mixed driving. We drive in eco mode and have tried to be light on the gas pedal, but not crazy. I think you would be crazy not to by the Hybrid version for only $800 more, you get an incredible bargain. This is definitely the best vehicle we have ever owned. Enjoy yours you won’t be disappointed.
