Used 2019 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews
The comfy Toyota Towncar, or taller Siena
Just got my for about 2 weeks. Love it! PRO: Drove a Lincoln Towncar many years ago for a long time, this Highlander reminded of that, but with much better handling in tight parking lot as well as open highway. It's quiet, comfy, bright inside. You can acutally enjoy the music on highway. Feels like in my living room most of the time while driving. Have to keep myself alert so I don't doze off. The BlindSpotMonitor (BSM) is a vital feature for me, so I no longer need to turn my head back in busy traffic for lane changes. The smart cruise control works most of the time, best on open straight highway without many exits and merging traffic. The dashboard controls are mostly straightforward. The info system touch screen are usable when not driving. Entrance stepping height is just right. Sitting position is great and the driver's power seat works great. Heated seat is very helpful in the morning. The slipt open lift gate glass is another very useful feature that I love. Lots of USB sockets! Multi-zone AC works great and extremely quiet. Lots of cargo space behind the 2rd row and tons more if they are folded. CON: Navigation is useless especially now I can use Google Map! Never like voice control of any type. The smart cruise control works but with limitations: it's pretty harsh when speeding up or slowing down. It has problem on curves and ramps and split sections, especially the off ramp straight side is on the left while I am following a car along the curve to continue on. The smart cruise control will stop and think I should follow the car straight ahead stopped at the off ramp. The Headroom is surprisingly, quite limited. I am only 5'9". Only got 22.x mpg on mostly hgihway driving, quite far from the sticker's 27 mpg highway. The weather and road condition are very nice around here, so it can't be for those reasons. It's bland look makes very hard to find in a crowded parking lot: it just looks like so many other cars and SUVs, big and small. Bottom Line: Quiet, and easy family town and country mover with grace and style. I think Toyota is not about love at first sight, but more a happy long term relationship.

2019 Highlander Platinum Nav System Voice Prompt
Bought a 2019 Highlander, Platinum in July 2019. Nav system voice prompt not working. Took car to dealer-who was "unaware" of an apparently long-standing problem. Finally informed me it's a known software issue with no software fix at this time. They did instruct me on the "workaround" hitting the ignition button twice then starting the car. Guess what? This is not acceptable nor practical. I usually remember to do this after I started the car and entered the interstate!!! Took car back to dealer 3 times since (it's Dec 2019) and no known software updates for this problem. I'm submitting a safety complaint to NHTSA as this is an extremely dangerous defect.

Disappointed
Seats are narrow, seat sides wrinkle easily. Does not feel like a luxury level package Beware- NO APPLE CARPLAY! Ridiculous that it was left out in the limited platinum package. Update- 1-14-22- had to have all brakes, rotors replaced at 20,000 miles. Also all 4 wheels are chipping and peeling. Replaced under warranty after 2 yrs.

Vehicle is ok, navigation system sucks
Been living in my house 2 years & navigation system doesnt know where I live. Dealer can't tell me when next update is due out. System does only a fraction so advertised & does most of that poorly. Entune is a joke.
