Used 2019 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews
Great Vehicle
Mark Miller Toyota gave us a great deal. Really happy with it. Usually go for American or German brands but this car is so fun to drive. I love the direct shift transmission and the smooth revving v6 engine. It’s powerful and so tight. Love it!

I have a Toyota bias... I love them!
My first new car was a 1971 Toyota Corona... it served me well! Over the years I have bought Oldsmobiles and Fords... they were good but not great! In the past decades I have purchased several (about six) Toyotas... only Avalons and Highlanders. They are GREAT cars. I just bought a 2019 Highlander... great car... with all of the latest computerized and camera safety features... super great! For me, this is the perfect car (although I wish it was all electric... I hate hybrids). When I was younger, I had to have a BMW 320i... great handling at high speed curves! I was young and foolish... but it was a lot of fun :-). For a super duper safe and practical car... if you can beat a Toyota Highlander.... please let me know.

I love my Highlander XLE!
I received a great price at only $34,000 out the door. If you are looking for a good deal, now is the time to buy!

Better than average but very little cargo space
We were looking to buy a new SUV and wanted one with as much cargo space as possible. Taking a tape measure to dealers' lots and measuring the distance from the back of the seat to the tailgate I found that the Highlander was smaller than the Subaru Outback. Handling is good and performance when needed to accelerate quickly to merge with freeway traffic is also very good (unlike the Honda Pilot). I also learned that the GVWR for the Highlander is exactly 6000 lbs. making it not eligible for a Section 179 accelerated depreciation which requires a weight greater than 6000 lbs for the vehicle to qualify. Even 6001 lbs would have changed the tax status of the vehicle. I bought the 2018 Chevy Traverse which has the most available cargo space of any SUV sold in the USA for that year and it has a very smooth ride, great handling, up to 27 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg around town, and it is compatible with current electronics from Apple and Android. After owning and driving the Traverse for the past year I am convinced it was the right SUV to buy. It performs perfectly and is the best designed and engineered vehicle I have owned over the past 50 years. I was able to buy an upright freezer and a 40 gallon water heater and to put them in their shipping boxes into the back of the Traverse with a lot of room to spare. The Traverse truely can take the place of a pickup truck in many situations.

Below expectations
Own a 2019 XLE. Been in the shop 3x for excessive wind noise. It sounds like a window is cracked. Very loud whistling. We were told that is normal and Toyota is aware of it. Front seats feel great initially, but after a few hours on a road trip, they become very uncomfortable. Needs more cushion on both back and bottom. Interior is disappointing. Any scratch on the black plastic leaves marks you cannot buff out. Cheap. No apple car play? Entune is an issue as well. Expensive vehicle for all of these issues. This is our first Toyota, not sure there will be another.
