On my first purchase of the car, I have been very satisfied with it. It is a very comfortable traveling car. I wish they could put these seats in the Prius and Rav 4. I tried the Prius again on a test drive, I could not handle the lack of lumbar support. I tried other Toyotas without power seats and the same problem surfaced. I spotted another Corolla IM on the lot, the only one left, and purchased it. Again great non power seats. The first one I paid 16,800., this one only 16,100. The only difference being all weather floor mats on the first purchase. I purchased all weather floor mats on the internet for this one., about $150. The resale value is great on these vehicles when you look it up. I have not had any issues with my first purchase, it has been trouble free. I have not experienced any issues with the Safety Sense System, and I have mine set on high sensitivity. We have all types of weather in Seattle and it does not seem to effect it. I did buy another manual transmission, so I cannot give an evaluation on the CVT automatic, I have never had a chance to drive one. I really enjoy the manual transmission. I find these vehicles very pleasant, especially out on the road, they are quiet and smooth. I thought I would miss a CD player or Satellite Radio, but that has not been the case, I just use Pandora or the HD radio. The Bluetooth and nice speakers do the job with my phone. The reliability and quality keep me coming back. I like the practicality of the hatchback. The 1.8 engine is perfect with the manual, I do not think I would want a larger engine. I had the larger engine in my TC and XB and the gas mileage suffered. If I was speed racer I would be looking elsewhere. I just want common sense transportation that is safe and reliable and practical and has a good resale value and good looking. This meets that criteria.

3-year update: 43,000 miles on the clock now. Still on the original set of tires, and the car still smells brand-new on the inside. My sister only ever drives this car to work and back; she has legitimately never taken a different exit or gone anywhere else with this car. Given how the car is still practically brand-new, even after 3 years and 43,000 miles, I truly believe that this car can will go 500,000 miles. We had a 2008 Corolla that we drove 440,000 miles (yes, you read that right: four-hundred and forty-four thousand miles), before we sold it to a college student, who still drives it. Can't beat Toyota! I am reviewing my sister's 2017 Corolla iM, which has 35K miles on it right now. We are a Toyota family and have owned many Corollas over the years, and also one Subaru. Right off the bat - this car is premium. It comes standard with alloy rims, stitched and bolstered seats, rubber mats, lane departure warning, a manual option (the M+/-), rear center armrest, cruise control, climate control, and many other features. All for $17K! The car doesn't feel like a Corolla - it feels much more like a Camry, given its comfort level. It has a very planted and sporty drive - albeit harsh on bumps due to its sport tires. Compared to a Corolla sedan, this car is literally another car. It's Toyota's hidden gem - they put so much effort into this little car, and you can tell the second you take a seat in it. Some cons/comparisons of the car: Visibility pales compared to other cars in the segment, especially out the rear window. It doesn't have as much legroom as a Corolla sedan, or is as wide and roomy as a Subaru Impreza, but it's the leader when it comes to technology, quality, and value. We've owned 6 Corollas over the years, and this one is the most impressive by-far. I literally cannot emphasize how good it is... Would I recommend this car as a family car? Only if you have 2 young children. I would definitely recommend it for any single person who wants reliable, premium transportation from point A to point B.

It's a Corolla, which means reliability and resale value are great. It's made in Japan, and I've found through experience that that's a plus. It has the practicality of a hatchback but the styling and handling of a sportier car. I've been surprised by how well it handles -- also by the number of standard features, including backup camera, lane change monitoring, forward collision monitoring, automatic headlights (with manual override), decent audio system, dual control heating/cooling system, bluetooth, USB port, height-adjustable driver's seat, sporty low profile tires with nice looking alloy wheels . . . and more. I like the analog speedometer and tachometer. Other reviewers are correct in saying that it's not a particularly powerful car, but with the manual transmission, power is sufficient (and the manual is more fun to drive). Gas mileage is good, though not as good as some other small cars. The CVT gets considerably better gas mileage than the manual, mostly because the manual doesn't have a really tall 6th gear -- at 75 mph the manual (6th gear) is turning at 3000 rpm while the CVT is at 2000 (I drove a CVT as a rental car.) So, it's not a performance car, but it handles very well, and it lasts forever. Not a bad tradeoff. Downsides? I'm 5'10" and I find that getting in and out of the car is less comfortable than on other cars I've owned due to the car's low profile -- you sit low and the car itself has sporty low ground clearance. The driver's seat lacks lumbar support (I use a small pillow to compensate). The lane change monitoring system uses a sensor housed in a small enclosure mounted behind the rear-view mirror -- this has a minor but negative effect on how much of a panorama you get out the windshield. The forward collision avoidance system works well, but lane change monitoring is overly sensitive, even though it can be adjusted. The automatic headlight option works ok, though it has trouble at night managing the brights. The 6 speed manual's clutch/accelerator coordination requires more practice than usual to get used to because the accelerator is a bit over sensitive and the clutch's friction point a bit narrow -- I'm guessing the accelerator is designed for the CVT. This affects manual shifting dexterity somewhat -- not a deal breaker, but something to notice. The 6 speed manual transmission is ok, though not as slick shifting as, for example, a Mazda 3 (I've compared them). For the money, I think the car is very good. If you want to spend $5,000 to $10,000 more, you can get better performance, but nothing will beat the Corolla IM in mechanical reliability or resale value. For $17,300, it's a great car.

Have had this car about a month now. I use almost every day. At first I thought the low power and cvt would bother me but car is sp smooth I hardly notice it anymore. Power in "sport" mode is actually adequate for everyday driving. Mpg are where they should be. Handling is where this car exceeds. I take off ramps and corners pretty fast and this car does not back down. It hugs the road pretty well. I don't regret buying this car especially with the deal I got on it.

I can honestly say great and wonderful things about my Corolla Hatchback! I owned a 2001 Toyota Corolla before this, yes drove it 17years, and hope to get that out or more years out of this great little car! I am only 5'2 female and I come from having some simple cars so I am Just happy with what is on this car, cause obviously the more stuff, the more to break. I've Just had this car two months and STILL look forward to driving it or will find reasons to go drive it ;) The Fuel economy is amazing as heck on this car!!!! I am blown away! So If your looking for a daily commuter car, with comfort, style and reliability..............THIS IS THE CAR!!!!
