First month of driving this car experienced low rattling sound in the engine like something loose then next couple of months sound was higher when engine cold,Sound like tractor and transmission also sound like something loose but when I take it to service they keep saying nothing wrong with the car although Toyota mechanics and manager where able to hear that sounds of engine and transmission so frustrating that absolutely no one including Toyota customer care don’t want to fix this problem.

6-7 mm body gaps are beyond belief. I've never seen another vehicle with body gaps like this. You can almost adjust the door hinges without opening the doors. Is this a Toyota? I thought it was perhaps that the car was built at the new Mazda-Toyota assembly plant in Alabama. I visited my local Mazda dealer to examine CX-50's that were built at the same plant as the Corolla Cross. The Mazda has consistent, tight 3mm body gaps that were repeatable on all three vehicles I measured. Then it was clear: Toyota used cheap on the body tools and the interior of this car is an ocean of hard black plastic. Not going to age well. Having said that the Gen 5 hybrid drivetrain is really well sorted.

Definitely not a family car. After driving 3 different model Camry's for over 20 years, this car is a complete disappointment. Only reason I bought this cross is, I was having a difficult time getting in and out of the Camrys, since they were much lower to the ground than the SUV. Other than the gas mileage and the original reason for purpose, this cars performance is very poor. Noisy, very sluggish, no get up and go,. Guaranteed. I will not have this car very long.

In a bind

We were driving to Florida when my beloved 2013 Highlander broke down. Fixing was going to take a day and a half away from our family trip. Inventory at all Toyota dealerships have been scarce for months now. We figured all costs and age of my car and decided to trade. The only small SUV on the lot was a Cross Hybrid. We bought it and boy do we have buyers remorse. Stupid idea of no spare tire, a repair kit in the trunk. The backseat is not spacious, cheated out of one back seat pocket, middle console can only hold a pair of glasses. Too many gadgets for a person over 60 to learn. When you change lanes it is quite difficult because there is a type of force that makes it scary in high speed traffic. Wireless charging pad is not compatible with every phone. I'm sorry to say that from our experience with Toyotas, this car is a hard pass.

Toyota Cross 2024

Of all Toyota's car that I had, this one is the worst! I was so happy to, finally, get a SUV smaller that a Rav 4 and, my expectations went out to a hole without end. First, let's talk about its price. Mine was $28,100 and, when I started negotiating here and there, they added $700 from nowhere. It is not Toyota's fault but the dealer for this one but, because the dealer says "Toyota," the company is responsible for everything their concessionaires do. My goal was to buy a Rav4, but it has 18 inches more. Eighteen inches means more money so, I was not in a huge mood to add more than $7,000 for a car to go to my work that is 4 minutes away from home. So, I decided to buy a Cross. The experience to drive it was a short 1-minute flat drive. FLAT... Important detail because its motor is the worst one that Toyota has. Before buying it, try to have a test drive on a hill. You will analyze better if you want to have such "investment." This is the second no, no, no for this car. Third, it's very light which helps you to save a lot of money in gasoline (which is a pro) but, if you take a hole (we have lots in Puerto Rico), you think that you are in a spaceship because it "flies." Another aspect that I am so concern is that no matter you have two hands on the wheel, the car wants to go to its own destiny. The last one, for now is that the basic model does not come with a rear windshield, and you need to clean it before you start to drive for your destination. In rainy days, this is not good because you have to use the mirror and cameras which are in the same condition as the back of the car. Good things: the interior features are good! Big space in the front and back to make comfortable guests.
