A Lexus for a Camry Price !!!
Bought the XLE V6 with every option on it except heated seats... who needs heated seats in Florida. Car is fantastic. Exterior reminds me of a 530i and the interior is plush especially with the light woodgrain finish. The Nav is easy to use and figure out compared to other reviews I have read on other makers. I have had zero problems so far at 2000 miles and am averaging around 27mpg with city and highway combined. This is my first Toyota after driving Chrysler products for the last 15 years.
Engine is garbage
The rest of the car is good, but the engine is bad enough to make this car not worth it. Insult to injury is the way Toyota handled the situation. The engine burns oil. A lot of oil. Apparently there was a problem with the piston rings. They never issued a recall. If you got your oil changed at the dealer and complained enough, they would make the repair and put in new rings to fix the problem at no cost. If you change your oil yourself, or at a quick lube place, and didn't make a big stink, they did nothing. As I said before, no recall. I found this out too late, as they would only make the fix if the car was under 100,000 miles. I had only ever bought Toyotas. The Camry was the fourth. Other manufacturers had made great strides in their reliability, but I stuck with Toyota. So very disappointed.

A Step Backward From Previous Generation
We bought this car based on Toyota's reputation for high quality/value, but were ultimately disappointed. Compared to the previous-generation (2001-06) Camry, the interior of the 2007 - while great LOOKING - is very cheap. Lots of hard, creaky plastics, thin seat material, and very cheap-feeling HVAC controls & some other switchgear. Both sun visors broke internally and would just hang down & had to be replaced (with same poor design). The struts had a reputation for failing early (ours were shot & leaking by 30K miles). Worst of all, the engine began using oil excessively by about 70K miles - which I discovered was common for this (2.4L) engine in all of the vehicles it was used.
camry fever
this car is awesome!! toyota is write that this car is more than just a car my friends and my family loves it, i always get attention with this car....
Transmission woes! Beware!
We looked at the '07 Impala and settled on the Camry SE. Gas mileage is terrific. Safety was #1 and mileage was #2. We love the ride with one exception.... the auto transmission is very poorly designed and Toyota hasn't decided what to do. When approaching a stop with little or no gas pedal pressure, the transmission downshifts normally until the car shifts gears and suddenly lurches ahead at a higher speed. This is very disturbing and perhaps even unsafe because now I have to apply much more of the brake to stop. It is a very surprising and unnatural experience. Will most likely be our last Toyota.
