Bought in spring 02, and after 18 months no issues. Runs smooth, quiet, 2.4L has plenty of power and good economy. Have taken many long trips and very pleasant driving with family of four--two teenagers.

I am very pleased with my 2002 Camry XLE. It was a replacement for my previous 1990 Camry which had 191K+ miles. I trust that my new 2002 will last as long. I am impressed with the MPG on road trips (30 MPG) and the comfort of the leather seats. I am also impressed with the Camry road handling. It may have been a bit pricey compared to the Honda Accord or Nissan Altima, but this 2002 is my fourth Toyota and I have had good experience with Toyota quality.

2002 Toyota Camry LE 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5M)

Very smooth riding car and quiet for this size and price range. Seats and roominess are very comfortable. Shifting is smooth, although acceleration for the 2.4L is not that great, but adequate nonetheless. AC works fine, although Toyota (as well as many other brands) has to get a clue about heating. As anybody knows, hot air rises; thus, put heating vents as low to the floor as possible. I find that no matter how hot and heavy I run the heater, my feet remain cold while my upper body burns up. Fortunately, I don't live in a really cold place like Minnesota.

Shouldn't have bought early production

My 2002 rattles big time (in the engine and transmission). I took the Camry back to dealer 4 times, and they couldn't find the problem. I suspect they didn't want to do the work, and just gave me some lame excuse. I learned my lesson, which is to wait until Toyota (or another manufacturer) works the kinks out of the production. I will never buy a new model until the second year. If I had spent an extra 5 grand, I could have bought the Lexus 300, which is practically the same car. Yes, my Toyota Camry still rattles.
