Used 2002 Toyota Camry Consumer Reviews
A little worried
Good looking, lots of extras, fun to drive and really good acceleration. Great stereo system and wonderful navigation system. Had to replace the transmission at 40000. It still jerks between 45-50mph.
Great car
All and all, this is an excellent car. I get between 27 and 32 mpg with mine, it has a smooth ride, good pickup, great sound system and is extremely reliable. I already have over 150K on it and literally only put about $150 per year into repairs. This has got to be one of the best vehicles I have ever had. Very economical, attractive and comfortable. Love it!

I would not buy it again
I bought this car for my wife to drive. She and my 2 kids really like it. Whenever I drive it on weekends and trips I cannot help but notice the poor handling and poor braking. This car handles like a buick. The car leans on almost turn. The brakes are very soft. You foot almost goes down to the floor when stopping. Also the driver side door handle broke off the first week we had the car and we had to wait three weeks before they could get the part in. The automatic drivers seat also slides during driving.
Once I Got Rid of the OEM Tires...
An excellent car from Toyota. I'm a Camry vet from '92 and '96 (skipping the horribly de-contented '97-'01 model), and after 18 months I am still in love with the car. Unfortunately, Toyota spoils the experience with inferior tires at the start - avoid the Bridgestone RE92's if you can. They lasted all of 30K miles. I now have Yokohamas and have an even quieter ride - and incredible wet and snow traction missing from the first 18 months. Another picky gripe is that the nav system is far too nannyish about not allowing the driver to use when in motion (although you can press touch-screen radio buttons to your heart's content at 80 mph).
Sweeeeet.....
My wife and I bought this car in February. We had driven the Nissan Maxima, Honda Accord (owned a Civic and CRV,so didn't want the same old blah Honda design) and looked at others as well. We finally narrowed in down to the Maxima and the Camry SE V6. We drove them back to back, Camry first. The Camry SE absolutely blew away the Maxima. The Maxima is more powerfull at 255 hp but the build quality wasn't there. It had a rough ride and a cheaper looking interior. The Camry is very roomy and comfortable. The engine purrs like a kitten. My wife drives it to work, but I can't wait for when I get to drive it on the weekends!!! Fabulous car....definitely not dissapointed.
