Used 1999 Toyota Camry Sedan Consumer Reviews
Hawaii '99 Camry
What I don't like is the left foot block on the floor. It causes my left leg cramps, and does not allow me to stretch out, especially on long drives. I removed it, and there is a stud on the floor, but, it is easier to live with. Otherwise, it runs like a champ, drives very well, and feels good.
Overall Great Car
I bought the Camry in April of 2002 and have had no major problems at all. The car is great on gas milage and has adequate power on city streets. Besides normal wear and tear the only issue i have had is the passanger door window motor which was inepensive to replace. Only complaints are that the rear cup holders are easily broken, that the car rides low or the suspension is too giving that the car scrapes its undercarriage alot on bumps, and that the stereo has no lights on the buttons to see at night; only glow in the dark stickers.
Comfy Commuter
I have had my 99 Camry for two years now. I bought the car with 56,000 miles on it and I purchased a 100,000 mile warranty, which I only used once on a $300 repair(I paid $1200 for the warranty). I would say that I am fairly rough on my car but it has withstood the test. My Camry now has 106,000 miles on it and there is not one thing, repair wise, that I can complain about. Some people say that it is a luxury car but I wouldn't go that far. It definately is more luxurious than other cars in its class though and has a much quieter ride than Accord or Altima.
Excellent - Best Car I have Ever Owned
Very impressed with quality, reliability - however in the comfort area - the front seats (drivers and passenger seats - comfort needs to be improved - too stiff. Other than that - love everything else about the car. Best and most reliable car I've owned. Still have the original brakes at 60,000 miles. Had to change tires at 35,000.
1999 Toyota Camry in N Maine
I purchased this car for $8500 and it had only 34,000 miles. The engine was clean and it ran perfect. The tires need replacing (stock tires), the interior needed some cleaning up, and the flex-pipe for the exhaust was replaced (covered under warranty); but other than that the car is very sound. It has a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with 5-speed manual transmission. At first I was wanting the automatic trans but with the high gas prices and the extra oomph with the manual, I'm glad I actually purchased it with the 5-speed.
