Greatest Car

The car has great mileage and the power of a six cylinder in a four cylinder hybrid. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for a great looking car with great gas mileage and power.

If you live in an area that doesn’t have cell service, forget using the navigation system to get where you’re going. You need to use your phone to have maps display on your screen. Salesman stated that most just look at the phone. In Oregon you would pay a fine if you are holding a cell phone while driving. Toyota really.

Other reviewers and pro reviews have covered the actual drive. It's a hybrid sedan, nothing powerful or super handling, but very efficient. Fine. But Toyota seems to have forgotten a few things in it's so - called top of the line Camry Hybrid XLE. First, you can't get A/C ventilated seats in this car, period. Or, as it turns out, in any Camry, period. Does this matter to you? Yeah, many of us live in climates with miserable summer heat or humidity or both so, if springing for the top model, it should come with or have A/C ventilated seats available. Second, no Camry Hybrid, let alone the top dog XLE, comes with "native" navigation. You have to hook up your own smart phone and use the "Scout" Toyota application. Since the XLE costs about the same as the other top of line mid sized sedan hybrids or more ( than Hyundai or Kia ), all of which come with native navigation plus car play applications for smart phone hook up if that's wanted ( in the higher end versions ), this strikes me as a cost - saving cheap out. Yes, there are a few nice, advanced features, like inductive smart phone charging ( for those smart phones with that capability ). It's also a much newer design than the Fusion, which is on it's sixth or so year the current version. Camry, new, Honda Accord hybrid ( when it comes out soon ), new, Kia and Hyundai new last year. But, come on Toyota, quit cheaping out in your top of the line XLE product. Oh, the salesperson had an idea - Move up to the full sized, more expensive Avalon, "not much" more. So I checked pricing on the Toyota web site - The Avalon Limited Hybrid is "only" $6K or so more window sticker price than the loaded Camry XLE. That's not so much, right? OK, it's a lot more car but I don't need or want a full sized car. Even with Toyota offering a $4K rebate this month....... Or to spend more money to buy it. Fuel it with less efficiency than the smaller, mid sized sedans. Insure it. Sorry, Toyota, you blew the Camry design, cheaped out, or both. No sale for me.

Toyota’s decision to use your cell phone for GPS has left customers stranded. Scout GPS Link & Entune no longer provide map view GPS and drains your minutes. In addition, Entune is clunky & fails to sync with the car at least 50-75% of the time. Absolutely horrible. Look at the Honda Accord if GPS & technology mean anything to your purchase.

Sorry I Bought This Car - Update 12/2019

UPDATE: JUNE 2022: Still have the car. Mechanically it's been great and they finally gave up on the entire Infotainment System so that's pretty useless as originally purchased, but the addition of Apple compatibility has made it functional through my iPhone for maps and other apps. UPDATE: December 4th, 2020: Into my 3rd year and the car has not had any mechanical issues and he holding up well. There have been several more update to the infotainment system which have greatly improved it's functionality although I rarely use it because on this car it's like a patch and not very seamless. I have softened somewhat to the initial frustration, but will probably hold this car for 1 year and more to a new car and perhaps a new brand. Toyota's warranty is now only 2 years and most others are longer. I used to have service covered free for 3 years so that's a change that could drive me elsewhere. UPDATE: December 4th, 2019: I've had the car now for 2 years and some things are really better. It's comfortable and it gets great mileage. The infotainment system finally has been upgraded. I had to bring it in for a few hours and about a year ago (a year from purchase) they added new firmware and then about 6 months ago they added Apple compatibility, so both those things are great. Unfortunately, the updates are patches so they are sometimes unreliable or fail completely, but I still get auto upgrades and it's much better than when I purchased it. Outside the technology, the car is fine, safe and comfortable. I will be wary in a bout a year when I'll start looking for my next vehicle. I don't think Toyota did a very good job handling this whole problem. Some communication and update information would have been great. ORIGINAL REVIEW:As a several decade long Toyota Camry fan I immediately jumped on the bandwagon and purchased this car in December as they were coming available. I made a mistake. For my first time ever, this Toyota was not ready for prime time. As several people mention the infotainment system which also controls the navigation (an $1800.00 mandatory option) is useless. This also effects all Bluetooth and phone operations which won't work compounded if you have an Apple iPhone. Forget it altogether as the car is barely compatible with anything Apple. I also live in a rural area and everything depends on data which I don't get well or at all in certain area deeming the navigation inoperable when it even works at all. Yes - it rides well and I have no doubt it's a safe and reliable car, but since I bought this top of the line for it mileage and "toys" I'm totally disappointed in both the car and Toyota who will not acknowledge their mistakes. It is the only Camry that they went to the Scout system which the worst. The mileage claim is 49, but that's only the LE model. This car gets 39-41 - terrible for a hybrid. I've talked to the dealer and they "try" to care but they don't and at this point I'll hold on for a year to get some value and then move on to a different brand. So disappointed in this model of what was a favorite car of mine - so sorry I turned in my 2013 on this horrible "upgrade".
