This car is known as a hidden gem. I had never heard of the Avalon before buying it used with 50k miles in 2015 for $22k. Eight years later, I still love it. Quiet. Powerful. Great mpg for such a large sedan — 40 mpg if not in “sport.” Handling in sport is really nice though. All I’ve done is maintenance (fluids). Brakes astonishingly are at 50% due to the hybrid regenerative breaking. Yes, the “infotainment center” display is outdated (hence the 4 stars instead of 5) and doesn’t have CarPlay, but synching the iPhone with Bluetooth is fine. The JBL sound system on the limited is outstanding. Seats are comfortable. Interior is holding up well with time. Feels like a luxury car. It is a luxury car. I plan to keep it for another ten years. Front end *is* low and fragile and was eventually redesigned. I did have some body work done on it. Back seats don’t fold down. Wish they did. Rims have chipping paint after almost ten years, but aren’t too bad. It’s a good feeling to love your car.

The ride is firm, The steering is tight and responsive. Like the dash Layout in simplicity of use. Added extra padding to the seat cushions in the front. Plenty of power for a 4 cylinder With the electric motor. Mileage forty four Miles per gallon at eighty five miles an hour. Around 35 mpg in town. Great car. Now 56k, no issues.
